LA SACRA BIBBIA	NEW AMERICAN BIBLE
1 Non confidare nelle tue ricchezze e non dire: "Sono autosufficiente".	1 Rely not on your wealth; say not: "I have the power."
2 Non fidarti di te stesso e della tua forza per seguire i desideri del tuo cuore.	2 Rely not on your strength in following the desires of your heart.
3 Non dire: "Chi può comandarmi?", perché il Signore ti punirà.	3 Say not: "Who can prevail against me?" for the LORD will exact the punishment.
4 Non dire: "Ho peccato e cosa è successo?", perché il Signore ha sempre tempo.	4 Say not: "I have sinned, yet what has befallen me?" for the LORD bides his time.
5 Visto che perdona, non essere sfacciato da aggiungere peccato a peccato.	5 Of forgiveness be not overconfident, adding sin upon sin.
6 Non dire: "La sua compassione è grande, perdonerà i miei peccati, anche se molti", perché in lui c'è misericordia e ira, il suo furore scenderà sui peccatori.	6 Say not: "Great is his mercy; my many sins he will forgive."
7 Non ritardare la conversione al Signore e non differirla di giorno in giorno, perché l'ira del Signore verrà improvvisa e nel tempo del giudizio sarai distrutto.	7 For mercy and anger alike are with him; upon the wicked alights his wrath.
8 Non confidare nelle ricchezze ingiuste: non ti serviranno nel giorno della sventura.	8 Delay not your conversion to the LORD, put it not off from day to day;
9 Non spulare ad ogni vento e non andare per ogni sentiero, come fa il peccatore e il simulatore.	9 For suddenly his wrath flames forth; at the time of vengeance, you will be destroyed.
10 Sii costante in quello che pensi e sia una sola la tua parola.	10 Rely not upon deceitful wealth, for it will be no help on the day of wrath.
11 Sii pronto nell'ascolto e lento nella risposta.	11 Winnow not in every wind, and start not off in every direction.
12 Se sai, rispondi al tuo prossimo, se no, la mano sia sulla tua bocca.	12 Be consistent in your thoughts; steadfast be your words.
13 Gloria e disonore nel modo di parlare: l'uomo cade per la sua lingua.	13 Be swift to hear, but slow to answer.
14 Non farti la fama di maldicente e non insidiare con la tua lingua, perché se c'è vergogna per il ladro, c'è amara condanna per il simulatore.	14 If you have the knowledge, answer your neighbor; if not, put your hand over your mouth.
15 Non sbagliare nelle cose grandi e nelle piccole, per non mutarti da amico in nemico.	15 Honor and dishonor through talking! A man's tongue can be his downfall.
	16 Be not called a detractor; use not your tongue for calumny;
	17 For shame has been created for the thief, and the reproach of his neighbor for the double-tongued.
