1 Il limpido firmamento è un vanto del cielo, la visione dell'etere è uno splendido spettacolo.	1 The pride of the height, the clear firmament, the beauty of heaven, with his glorious shew;
2 Il sole, che si vede nell'alba, proclama d'essere l'opera meravigliosa dell'Altissimo;	2 The sun when it appeareth, declaring at his rising a marvellous instrument, the work of the most High:
3 a mezzogiorno dissecca la terra, davanti al suo calore chi può resistere?	3 At noon it parcheth the country, and who can abide the burning heat thereof?
4 Chi attizza la fornace lavora nella calura, il sole arroventa i monti tre volte di più; soffia vapori di fuoco e con i suoi raggi abbaglia gli occhi.	4 A man blowing a furnace is in works of heat, but the sun burneth the mountains three times more; breathing out fiery vapours, and sending forth bright beams, it dimmeth the eyes.
5 Grande è il Signore che l'ha fatto, con le sue parole ne accelera il corso.	5 Great is the Lord that made it; and at his commandment runneth hastily.
6 La luna ha pure il suo momento, per indicare le date e segnare il tempo.	6 He made the moon also to serve in her season for a declaration of times, and a sign of the world.
7 Dalla luna viene il segno della festa, è luce che svanisce dopo il suo giro;	7 From the moon is the sign of feasts, a light that decreaseth in her perfection.
8 il mese da essa prende nome e progredisce meravigliosamente nelle sue fasi; fiaccola degli eserciti dell'alto, brilla nel firmamento del cielo.	8 The month is called after her name, increasing wonderfully in her changing, being an instrument of the armies above, shining in the firmament of heaven;
9 Bellezza del cielo è la gloria degli astri, ornamento che splende nelle altezze del Signore;	9 The beauty of heaven, the glory of the stars, an ornament giving light in the highest places of the Lord.
10 sono fissi secondo le parole del Santo e il suo decreto, non abbandonano le loro posizioni.	10 At the commandment of the Holy One they will stand in their order, and never faint in their watches.
11 Vedi l'arcobaleno e benedici chi l'ha fatto, è molto bello nel suo splendore.	11 Look upon the rainbow, and praise him that made it; very beautiful it is in the brightness thereof.
12 Cinge il cielo col cerchio di gloria, l'hanno fatto le mani dell'Altissimo.	12 It compasseth the heaven about with a glorious circle, and the hands of the most High have bended it.
13 Col suo comando sollecita la neve, nel suo giudizio invia le folgori veloci;	13 By his commandment he maketh the snow to fall aplace, and sendeth swiftly the lightnings of his judgment.
14 per esso si aprono i tesori celesti e le nubi ne volano come uccelli.	14 Through this the treasures are opened: and clouds fly forth as fowls.
15 Nella sua potenza addensa le nubi e si spezzano i chicchi della grandine.	15 By his great power he maketh the clouds firm, and the hailstones are broken small.
16 quando appare, tremano i monti. Per la sua volontà soffia il vento dal sud,	16 At his sight the mountains are shaken, and at his will the south wind bloweth.
17 bdal nord viene la bufera e il turbine.	17 The noise of the thunder maketh the earth to tremble: so doth the northern storm and the whirlwind: as birds flying he scattereth the snow, and the falling down thereof is as the lighting of grasshoppers:
18 Egli sparge la neve come uccelli che scendono; essa discende come locuste che si posano. La bellezza del suo candore meraviglia gli occhi, e quando essa fiocca, il cuore si estasia.	18 The eye marvelleth at the beauty of the whiteness thereof, and the heart is astonished at the raining of it.
19 La brina egli versa come sale sopra la terra; quando essa gela è tutta punte di spine.	19 The hoarfrost also as salt he poureth on the earth, and being congealed, it lieth on the top of sharp stakes.
20 Egli soffia col gelido vento del nord, il ghiaccio s'indurisce sopra l'acqua, ricoprendo ogni bacino; l'acqua se ne riveste come di corazza.	20 When the cold north wind bloweth, and the water is congealed into ice, it abideth upon every gathering together of water, and clotheth the water as with a breastplate.
21 Egli divora le colline e brucia il deserto, come fosse fuoco distrugge l'erba.	21 It devoureth the mountains, and burneth the wilderness, and consumeth the grass as fire.
22 Ma viene la nube e subito rimedia ogni cosa, e la rugiada, che succede al caldo, riporta la gioia.	22 A present remedy of all is a mist coming speedily, a dew coming after heat refresheth.
23 Col suo pensiero ha calmato l'abisso e vi ha disseminato le isole.	23 By his counsel he appeaseth the deep, and planteth islands therein.
24 I naviganti descrivono i pericoli del mare, e ci stupiamo per quanto le orecchie ascoltano:	24 They that sail on the sea tell of the danger thereof; and when we hear it with our ears, we marvel thereat.
25 lì ci sono strane e meravigliose creature, animali d'ogni specie e mostri marini.	25 For therein be strange and wondrous works, variety of all kinds of beasts and whales created.
26 Il suo messaggero raggiunge per lui la sua meta, con la sua parola tutte le cose sono tenute insieme.	26 By him the end of them hath prosperous success, and by his word all things consist.
27 Se parliamo ancora molto, diciamo sempre poco, la somma del discorso è che egli è tutto.	27 We may speak much, and yet come short: wherefore in sum, he is all.
28 Dove troveremo la forza per glorificarlo? Egli è più grande di tutte le sue opere.	28 How shall we be able to magnify him? for he is great above all his works.
29 Il Signore è terribile e molto grande, la sua potenza è straordinaria.	29 The Lord is terrible and very great, and marvellous is his power.
30 Nel glorificare il Signore, esaltatelo quanto più potete: ne sopravanza sempre; per esaltarlo raccogliete le vostre forze, non stancatevi, perché non finirete mai.	30 When ye glorify the Lord, exalt him as much as ye can; for even yet will he far exceed: and when ye exalt him, put forth all your strength, and be not weary; for ye can never go far enough.
31 Chi l'ha mai visto per poterlo descrivere? Chi può lodarlo per quello che è?	31 Who hath seen him, that he might tell us? and who can magnify him as he is?
32 Le cose nascoste sono molte e superano quelle descritte, perché noi vediamo poco dell'opera sua.	32 There are yet hid greater things than these be, for we have seen but a few of his works.
33 Il Signore ha fatto tutte le cose e ha dato la sapienza a quanti sono pii.	33 For the Lord hath made all things; and to the godly hath he given wisdom.
