Salmi 18

LA SACRA BIBBIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Al maestro di coro. Del servo del Signore Davide, il quale pronunciò al Signore le parole di questo canto nel giorno in cui lo liberò dalla mano dei suoi nemici e dal potere degli inferi,	1 [For the choirmaster Of David, the servant of Yahweh, who addressed the words of this song toYahweh when Yahweh had delivered him from all his enemies and from the clutches of Saul. He said:] I loveyou, Yahweh, my strength (my Saviour, you have saved me from violence).
2 dicendo: Ti esalto, o Signore, mia forza,	2 Yahweh is my rock and my fortress, my deliverer is my God. I take refuge in him, my rock, my shield,my saving strength, my stronghold, my place of refuge.
3 Signore, mia roccia, mia fortezza, mio scampo; mio Dio, mia rupe di rifugio; mio scudo, potenza di mia salvezza,	3 I call to Yahweh who is worthy of praise, and I am saved from my foes.
4 degno di ogni lode. Ho invocato il Signore e sono salvo dai miei nemici.	4 With Death's breakers closing in on me, Belial's torrents ready to swal ow me,
5 Flutti mortali mi circondarono, torrenti esiziali mi travolsero,	5 Sheol's snares every side of me, Death's traps lying ahead of me,
6 mi avvolsero vincoli infernali, mi avvinsero lacci di morte.	6 I called to Yahweh in my anguish, I cried for help to my God; from his Temple he heard my voice, mycry came to his ears.
7 Nella mia angoscia invocai il Signore, al mio Dio gridai aiuto; la mia voce udì dal suo tempio, giunse il mio grido alle sue orecchie.	7 Then the earth quaked and rocked, the mountains' foundations shuddered, they quaked at his blazinganger.
8 Allora vacillò la terra e sussultò; le basi dei monti tremarono, vacillarono allo scoppio della sua ira.	8 Smoke rose from his nostrils, from his mouth devouring fire (coals were kindled at it).
9 Salì fumo dalle sue narici, fuoco divorante dalla sua bocca, carboni fiammeggianti dalla sua persona.	9 He parted the heavens and came down, a storm-cloud underneath his feet;
10 Allora piegò i cieli e discese, con una nube sotto i suoi piedi;	10 riding one of the winged creatures, he flew, soaring on the wings of the wind.
11 salì sopra un cherubino e volò, librandosi su ali spiegate.	11 His covering he made the darkness, his pavilion dark waters and dense cloud.
12 Pose le tenebre quale velo all'intorno, fece sua tenda l'oscurità delle acque.	12 A brightness lit up before him, hail and blazing fire.
13 Dallo splendore della sua presenza si sprigionava grandine con carboni di fuoco.	13 Yahweh thundered from the heavens, the Most High made his voice heard.
14 Il Signore tuonò dal cielo, l'Altissimo emise la sua voce;	14 He shot his arrows and scattered them, he hurled his lightning and routed them.
15 scagliò le sue frecce e li disperse, moltiplicò i suoi lampi e li sbaragliò.	15 The very springs of ocean were exposed, the world's foundations were laid bare, at your roaring,Yahweh, at the blast of breath from your nostrils!
16 E apparvero le profondità del mare, si scoprirono le fondamenta del mondo, alla tua minaccia, o Signore, al soffio dell'alito delle tue narici.	16 He reached down from on high, snatched me up, pulled me from the watery depths,
17 Stese la sua mano e mi prese, mi trasse fuori dalle acque profonde,	17 rescued me from my mighty foe, from my enemies who were stronger than I.
18 mi liberò dai miei nemici benché assai più potenti, da quelli che m'odiavano benché più forti di me.	18 They assailed me on my day of disaster but Yahweh was there to support me;
19 Mi affrontarono nel giorno della mia sventura, ma il Signore divenne per me un sostegno.	19 he freed me, set me at large, he rescued me because he loves me.
20 Mi fece uscire al largo, mi trasse in salvo poiché mi vuol bene.	20 Yahweh rewards me for my uprightness, as my hands are pure, so he repays me,
21 Mi ha trattato il Signore secondo la mia giustizia, secondo la purezza delle mie mani mi ha ripagato.	21 since I have kept the ways of Yahweh, and not fallen away from my God.
22 Sì, ho osservato le vie del Signore e non mi sono allontanato dal mio Dio.	22 His judgements are al before me, his statutes I have not put away from me.
23 Sì, tutte le sue leggi sono dinanzi a me, i suoi decreti non ho rimosso da me.	23 I am blameless before him, I keep myself clear of evil.
24 Retto sono stato con lui e mi sono custodito da ogni mia colpa.	24 So Yahweh repaid me for acting uprightly because he could see I was pure.
25 Il Signore mi ha ripagato secondo la mia giustizia, essendo pure le mie mani davanti ai suoi occhi.	25 You are faithful to the faithful, blameless with the blameless,
26 Con l'uomo pietoso ti fai pietoso, con l'uomo retto ti mostri retto,	26 sincere to the sincere, but cunning to the crafty,
27 con chi è puro agisci da puro, con chi è perverso ti fai guardingo.	27 you save a people that is humble and humiliate those with haughty looks.
28 Sì, tu un popolo umile poni in salvo e occhi superbi esponi al disprezzo.	28 Yahweh, you yourself are my lamp, my God lights up my darkness;
29 Sì, tu sei la mia lucerna, o Signore, il mio Dio che dà luce alla mia oscurità.	29 with you I storm the rampart, with my God I can scale any wal .
30 Sì, con te sono pieno di forza quando vado all'assalto; con il mio Dio do la scalata a qualunque muraglia.	30 This God, his way is blameless; the word of Yahweh is refined in the furnace, for he alone is theshield of al who take refuge in him.
31 La via di Dio è integra, la parola del Signore è sicura; uno scudo egli è per quanti si rifugiano in lui.	31 For who is God but Yahweh, who is a rock but our God?
32 Poiché chi è Dio all'infuori del Signore e chi è una rupe all'infuori del nostro Dio?	32 This God who girds me with strength, who makes my way free from blame,
33 Dio mi cinse di forza e rese piana la mia via,	33 who makes me as swift as a deer and sets me firmly on the heights,
34 rese i miei piedi come di cerve e sopra le alture mi fa stare sicuro;	34 who trains my hands for battle, my arms to bend a bow of bronze.
35 le mie mani addestrò alla guerra e le mie braccia a tirar l'arco di bronzo.	35 You give me your invincible shield (your right hand upholds me) you never cease to listen to me,
36 Hai dato a me il tuo scudo di salvezza; con la tua destra sei stato il mio sostegno moltiplicando su di me la tua benignità.	36 you give me the strides of a giant, give me ankles that never weaken.
37 Hai fatto largo ai miei passi sotto di me e i miei talloni non hanno ceduto.	37 I pursue my enemies and overtake them, not turning back til they are annihilated;
38 Inseguivo i miei nemici e li raggiungevo e non mi voltavo senz'averli annientati;	38 I strike them down and they cannot rise, they fall, they are under my feet.
39 li abbattevo e non potevano rialzarsi, essi cadevano sotto i miei piedi;	39 You have girded me with strength for the fight, bent down my assailants beneath me,
40 mi cingevi di forza per la battaglia, sotto di me piegavi i miei avversari;	40 made my enemies retreat before me; and those who hate me I destroy.
41 ai miei nemici mi ponevi alle spalle, quanti mi odiavano io li sterminai.	41 They cry out, there is no one to save; to Yahweh, but no answer comes.
42 Al loro grido d'aiuto nessuno rispose, gridarono al Signore e non li esaudì;	42 I crumble them like dust before the wind, trample them like the mud of the streets.
43 li disperdevo come polvere del suolo, come fango delle strade io li calpestavo.	43 You free me from the quarrels of my people, you place me at the head of the nations, a people I didnot know are now my servants;
44 Da contese di popolo mi hai liberato, mi hai posto a capo delle nazioni. Popoli che non conoscevo sono diventati miei sudditi.	44 foreigners come wooing my favour, no sooner do they hear than they obey me;
45 All'udir d'orecchio essi mi obbediscono, gli stranieri si inchinano davanti a me;	45 foreigners grow faint of heart, they come trembling out of their fastnesses.
46 cadono esausti i popoli stranieri, escono trepidanti dai loro rifugi.	46 Life to Yahweh! Blessed be my rock! Exalted be the God of my salvation,
47 Viva il Signore e benedetta la mia rupe, sia esaltato il Dio del mio soccorso,	47 the God who gives me vengeance, and subjects whole peoples to me,
48 il Dio che mi ha dato vittoria e sotto di me ha soggiogato i popoli.	48 who rescues me from my raging enemies. You lift me high above those who attack me, you deliverme from the man of violence.
49 Mi ha liberato da rabbiosi nemici, mi ha esaltato sui miei avversari, mi ha sottratto a uomini violenti.	49 For this I wil praise you, Yahweh, among the nations, and sing praise to your name.
50 Per questo ti lodo, o Signore, fra i popoli, voglio celebrare con canto il tuo nome.	50 He saves his king time after time, displays his faithful love for his anointed, for David and his heirs forever.
51 Ha dato al suo re strepitose vittorie, ha usato misericordia con il suo consacrato, con Davide e la sua discendenza per sempre.
