Deuteronomy 14

1 “Be sons of the Lord your God. You shall not cut yourselves, nor make yourselves bald, because of the dead.	1 Portatevi come figliuoli del Signore Dio vostro: non vi fate incisioni, e non vi tosate i capelli per ragion d'un morto.
2 For you are a holy people, for the Lord your God. And he chose you, so that you may be a people particularly his, out of all the nations on earth.	2 Perocché tu sei un popolo consacrato al Signore Dio tuo, ed egli ti elesse, perché tu sii specialmente suo popolo tra tutte le genti, che sono sopra la terra.
3 You shall not eat the things that are unclean.	3 Non mangiate delle cose, che sono immonde.
4 These are the animals which you ought to eat: the ox, and the sheep, and the goat,	4 Questi sono gli animali, de' quali dovete mangiare: il bue, e la pecora, e la capra,
5 the stag and the roe deer, the gazelle, the wild goat, the addax, the antelope, the giraffe.	5 Il cervo, il capriolo, il bufalo, il capro salvatico, il pigargo, l’orige, il camelopardo.
6 Every beast which has a hoof divided into two parts and which also chews the cud, you shall eat.	6 Mangerete di qualunque animale, che rumina, e ha lo zoccolo diviso in due parti.
7 But those which chew over again, but do not have a divided hoof, you must not eat, such as the camel, the hare, and the hyrax. Since these chew the cud, but do not have a divided the hoof, they shall be unclean to you.	7 Ma di quelli che ruminano, e non han lo zoccolo diviso, voi non ne mangerete, come del cammello, della lepre, e del porco spino: questi saranno immondi per voi, perché ruminano, e non hanno lo zoccolo diviso.
8 The pig also, since it has a divided hoof, but does not chew over again, shall be unclean. Their flesh shall not be eaten, and you shall not touch their carcasses.	8 Il porco parimente, perché ha lo zoccolo diviso, ma non rumina, sarà immondo: non mangerete delle sue carni, e morto nol toccherete.
9 These you shall eat out of all that dwells in the waters: whatever has fins and scales, you shall eat.	9 Di tutti gli animali, che abitano nelle acque, voi mangerete quelli che hanno le piccole ale, e le squamme:
10 Whatever is without fins and scales, you shall not eat, for these are unclean.	10 Quelli che sono senza le piccole ale, e senza squamme, non li mangiate, perché sono immondi.
11 All the clean birds, you shall eat.	11 Mangiate di tutti gli uccelli mondi.
12 You shall not eat those that are unclean: such as the eagle, and the griffin, and the osprey,	12 Astenetevi dagl’immondi, come è l’aquila, il grifone, l’aquila marina,
13 the crane, and the vulture, and the kite, according to their kind,	13 L'issione, e l’avoltoio e il milvo, e tutte le sue specie:
14 and any kind of raven,	14 E tutti quelli che sono del genere de' corvi,
15 and the ostrich, and the owl, and the gull, and the hawk, according to their kind,	15 E lo struzzolo, e la civetta, e il laro, e lo sparviere, e tutto quello che è della stessa specie:
16 the heron, and the swan, and the ibis,	16 L'airone, il cigno, e l’ibi,
17 and the sea bird, the marsh hen, and the night raven,	17 E il mergo, e il porfirione, e il cuculio,
18 the pelican and the plover, each in their kind, likewise the crested hoopoe and the bat.	18 L'onocrotalo, e il caradrio, ognuno colle loro specie: l'upupa, e il pipistrello,
19 And anything which crawls and also has little wings shall be unclean, and shall not be eaten.	19 E tutti quelli che hanno l'ale e si strascinan per terra, saranno immondi, e non si mangeranno.
20 All that is clean, you shall eat.	20 Mangiate di tutto quello che è mondo.
21 But whatever has died of itself, you shall not eat from it. Give it to the sojourner, who is within your gates, so that he may eat, or sell it to him. For you are the holy people of the Lord your God. You shall not boil a young goat in the milk of his mother.	21 Non mangiate di nissuna bestia morta da sé. Dalle o vendile al forestiero, che abita nelle stesse mura, perché ei le mangi: perocché tu sei un popolo consacrato al Signore Dio tuo. Tu non cuocerai il capretto nel latte di sua madre.
22 Each year, you shall separate the tithes out of all your crops which spring forth from the earth.	22 Ogni anno separerai la decima parte di tutti i frutti che nascono dalla terra.
23 And you shall eat these in the sight of the Lord your God, in the place which he will choose, so that his name may be invoked there: the tenth part of your grain and wine and oil, and the firstborn from the herds and your sheep. So may you learn to fear the Lord your God at all times.	23 E mangerai al cospetto del Signore Dio tuo nel luogo eletto da lui, affinché ivi sia invocato il suo nome, la decima del tuo frumento, e del vino, e dell’olio, e i primogeniti de' tuoi armenti; e de’ tuoi greggi: affinché tu impari a temere il Signore Dio tuo in ogni tempo.
24 But when the way and the place which the Lord your God will have chosen is further away, and he will have blessed you, so that you are not able to carry all these things to it,	24 Ma se il viaggio sarà troppo lungo per andare al luogo eletto dal Signore Dio tuo, ed egli ti avrà data benedizione copiosa, e non potrai portare ogni cosa;
25 you shall sell them all, so as to turn them into money, and you shall carry it in your hand, and you shall set out for the place which the Lord will choose.	25 Venderai tutto, e lo convertirai in denaro, e lo porterai colle tue mani, andando al luogo eletto dal Signore Dio tuo:
26 And you shall buy with the same money whatever pleases you, either from the herds or from the sheep, and also wine and liquor, and all that your soul desires. And you shall eat in the sight of the Lord your God, and you shall feast: you and your household.	26 E collo stesso denaro comprerai quel che ti piacerà o bovi, o pecore, e vino, e sicera, e tutto quel che più appetisci: e mangerai al cospetto del Signore Dio tuo, e farai banchetto tu, e la tua famiglia,
27 As for the Levite, who is within your gates, take care that you do not abandon him, for he has no other portion within your possession.	27 E il Levita che abita dentro le tue porte: guarda di non dimenticarlo, perocché egli non ha altra porzione dei tuoi beni.
28 In the third year, you shall separate another tenth part of all the things which spring forth for you at that time, and you shall store it within your gates.	28 Il terzo anno separerai un'altra decima di tutta la tua entrata di quel tempo: e la riporrai nella tua casa.
29 And the Levite, who has no other portion or possession with you, and the sojourner as well as the orphan and the widow who are within your gates, shall approach and eat and be satisfied, so that the Lord your God may bless you in all the works of your hands which you shall do.”	29 E verrà il Levita, che non ha altra porzione, né altro fondo tra voi, e il forestiero, e il pupillo, e la vedova, che abitano dentro le stesse mura con te, e mangeranno, e si sazieranno: affinché il Signore Dio tuo ti benedica in tutte le opere che farai colle tue mani.
