1 Wisdom is better than power, and a prudent man is better than a powerful one.	1 La sapienza è migliore che le forze; e l' uomo prudente si è migliore che il forte.
2 Therefore, hear, O kings, and understand; learn, you judges of the ends of the earth.	2 Udite dunque, o re, e intendete; giùdici dei confini della terra, imprendete.
3 Listen closely, you who hold the attention of the crowds, and who please yourselves by disturbing the nations.	3 Date le orecchie, voi che contenete le moltitudini, e piacete a voi nelle turbe delle genti.
4 For power has been given to you from the Lord and strength from the Most High, who will examine your works and scrutinize your thoughts.	4 Egli è data da Dio potestade a voi, (e la possanza) e la virtude v'è data dallo Altissimo, il quale v' addomanderae delle opere vostre, e ricercherae li vostri pensieri.
5 For, when you were ministers of his kingdom, you did not judge correctly, nor keep the law of justice, nor walk according to the will of God.	5 Però che, conciosia cosa che voi foste gubernatori del suo regno, giudicaste non dirittamente, e non osservaste la legge della giustizia, e non andaste secondo la volontà di Dio.
6 Horribly and quickly he will appear to you, because he will make a severe judgment for those who are in charge.	6 E Iddio apparve tosto e ispaventevolmente a voi; però che il durissimo suo giudicio si farae in coloro i quali signoreggiano li altri.
7 For, to the little, great mercy is granted, but the powerful will endure powerful torment.	7 Al piccolo si concede la misericordia; li potenti potentemente fieno tormentati.
8 For the Lord will not exempt anyone’s character, nor will he stand in awe of anyone’s greatness, because he himself made the little and the great, and he is equally concerned for everyone.	8 Iddio (che è Signore di tutti) non ne trarrae (per maggioranza) la persona, di qualunque stato sia, e non temerae di che grandezza si sia; però ch' egli fece il piccolo e il grande, e hae uguale cura di tutti.
9 But a powerful torture pursues the powerful.	9 Il più forte tormento soprastae alli più forti.
10 Therefore, O kings, these, my words, are for you, so that you may learn wisdom and not perish.	10 A voi dunque, o re, sono queste mie parole, acciò che voi appariate sapienza, e non travalichiate.
11 For those who have justly preserved justice will be justified, and those who have learned these things will find what to answer.	11 Però che coloro che osservano la giustizia, saranno giudicati giustamente; e coloro che averanno imparato le cose giuste, troveranno (quando fieno domandati da Dio dello re loro) che rispondere.
12 Therefore, desire my words, love them, and you will have instruction.	12 Desiderate dunque li miei sermoni e amateli, e averete scienza.
13 Wisdom is pure and never fades away, and is easily seen by those who love her and found by those who seek her.	13 La sapienza è chiara, ed è quella che mai non si guasta; e leggermente si vede da coloro che l'amano, e fia trovata da coloro che la cercono.
14 She anticipates those who desire her, so that she first reveals herself to them.	14 Ed ella prima piglia coloro che lei desiderano, per mostrarsi prima a loro.
15 Whoever awakens early to seek her, will not labor, for he will find her sitting at his door.	15 Chi veggiò il die, non s' affaticherae invano in servigio di lei; però ch' elli la troverae sedere alle sue porte.
16 Therefore, by thinking about her, understanding is perfected, and whoever remains watchful for her, will quickly be secure.	16 Pensate di lei; il senno è venuto al fine suo; e chi veghiarae per lei, tosto fia securo.
17 For she goes about seeking such as are worthy of her, and she reveals herself to them cheerfully in the ways, and meets them with all foresight.	17 Però che ella, cercandone, accerchia coloro che di lei sono degni; e nelle (sue) vie allegramente si mostra loro, e fassi loro incontro in ogni providenza.
18 For the very true beginning of her is the desire for instruction.	18 Lo principio di quella è lo vero desiderio di lei.
19 Therefore, the zeal for instruction is love, and love is the keeping of her laws, and the keeping of her laws is the perfection of incorruptibility,	19 La diligenza dunque della disciplina è la dilezione; e la dilezione è la osservanza della legge sua; la osservanza della legge è compiuta incorruzione.
20 while incorruptibility makes us near to God.	20 La incorruzione fa l' uomo essere prossimato a Dio.
21 And so, the desire for wisdom leads to an everlasting kingdom.	21 Il desiderio della sapienza producerae l' uomo al perpetuale regno.
22 If, therefore, your delight is in thrones and scepters, O kings of the people, love wisdom, so that you may reign forever;	22 Se dunque voi, o re del popolo, vi dilettate nelle sedie e nelle verghe regali, amate la sapienza, sì che voi regniate in perpetuo.
23 love the light of wisdom, all you who lead the peoples.	23 Amate il lume della sapienza, voi che siete sopra i popoli.
24 But what wisdom is, and how she was made, I will report, and I will not hide the mysteries of God from you, but I will investigate her from the beginning of her birth, and I will place the knowledge of her in the light, and will not pass over the truth.	24 E io riconterò, che cosa è la sapienza, in che modo ella è fatta, e non nasconderoe da voi li sacramenti di Dio; ma io cercheroe dal principio della nativitade (della sapienza), e metteroe in luce la sua scienza; non taceroe la veritade.
25 Neither will I hold to the path that dwindles away with envy, because such a man will not partake in wisdom.	25 E non anderoe per via colla invidia attristante; però che (lo invidioso e) cotale uomo non sarà partecipe di sapienza.
26 For the proliferation of the wise is sanity for the world, and a wise king is the mainstay of the people.	26 La moltitudine della sapienza sì è sanitade dell' uomo; e il savio re sì è fermamento del popolo.
27 Therefore, receive instruction by my words, and it will benefit you.	27 Adunque togliete disciplina per le mie parole, e gioveravvi.
