Proverbs 8

1 Does not wisdom call out, and prudence bestow her voice?	1 Forse la sapienza non chiama? e non alza la voce la prudenza?
2 At the summits and the tops of exalted places, standing above the ways, in the midst of the paths,	2 in cima alle alture, lungo la strada, ai crocicchi delle vie sta in piedi
3 beside the gates of the city, at the very doors, she speaks, saying:	3 vicino alle porte della città, dentro le stesse porte essa dice:
4 “O men, to you I call out, and my voice is to the sons of men.	4 « O uomini, a voi il mio grido, la mia voce si rivolge ai figli degli uomini.
5 O little ones, understand discernment. And you who are unwise, turn your souls.	5 Imparate, o piccoli, l'accortezza, e voi, o stolti, state attenti.
6 Listen, for I will speak about great things, and my lips will be opened, so as to foretell what is right.	6 Ascoltate, perchè vo' parlare di grandi cose, e le mie labbra s'apriranno a predicare ciò che è retto.
7 My throat shall practice truth, and my lips shall detest the impious.	7 La mia bocca ragionerà della verità, e le mie labbra detesteranno ciò che è empio.
8 All my words are just. There is no depravity in them, and no perversity.	8 I miei discorsi son tutti giusti; nulla v'è di falso o di storto;
9 They are upright to those who understand, and equitable to those who discover knowledge.	9 son retti per l'uomo intelligente ed equi per chi ha trovata la scienza.
10 Accept my discipline, and not money. Choose the doctrine that is greater than gold.	10 Preferite la mia disciplina al denaro e la scienza all'oro,
11 For wisdom is better than all that is most precious, and everything that is desirable cannot compare to her.	11 perchè la sapienza vai più di tutte le perle, e le cose più care non son da paragonarsi a lei.
12 I, wisdom, dwell in counsel, and I am inside learned thoughts.	12 Io, la sapienza, abito nel consiglio e presiedo ai saggi pensieri.
13 The fear of the Lord hates evil. I detest arrogance, and pride, and every wicked way, and a mouth with a double tongue.	13 Temere Dio vuol dire odiare il male. L'arroganza, la superbia, la perversa condotta e la bocca bilingue, io le detesto.
14 Counsel is mine, and equity. Prudence is mine. Strength is mine.	14 A me appartiene il consiglio e l'equità, a me la prudenza, a me la forza.
15 Through me, kings reign and legislators decree just conditions.	15 Per me regnano i re, e i legislatori ordinano ciò che è giusto.
16 Through me, princes rule and the powerful decree justice.	16 Per me comandano i principi, e i giudici amministrano la giustizia.
17 I love those who love me. And those who stand watch for me until morning shall discover me.	17 Io amo quelli che m'amano, e quelli che mi cercano con diligenza mi troveranno.
18 With me, are wealth and glory, superb riches and justice.	18 Meco sono le ricchezze e la gloria, i più alti beni e la giustizia.
19 For my fruit is better than gold and precious stones, and my progeny better than choice silver.	19 Il mio frutto è migliore dell'oro e delle pietre preziose, e il mio prodotto vai più dell'argento eletto.
20 I walk in the way of justice, in the midst of the paths of judgment,	20 Io cammino nelle vie della giustizia e per i sentieri della rettitudine,
21 so that I may enrich those who love me, and thus complete their treasures.	21 per arricchire quelli che mi amano e riempire i loro tesori.
22 The Lord possessed me in the beginning of his ways, before he made anything, from the beginning.	22 Dio mi possedette all'inizio delle sue opere, fin da principio, avanti la creazione.
23 I was ordained from eternity, and out of antiquity, before the earth was formed.	23 Ab eterno fui stabilita, al principio, avanti che fosse fatta la terra:
24 The abyss did not yet exist, and I was already conceived; neither had the fountains of waters yet erupted.	24 non erano ancora gli abissi, ed io ero già concepita. Non ancora le sorgenti delle acque rigurgitavano,
25 The mountains, with their great mass, had not yet been established. Before the hills, I was brought forth.	25 non ancora le montagne si erano fermate sulla grave mole. Prima delle colline io ero partorita.
26 Still he had not made the earth, and the rivers, and the poles of the globe of the earth.	26 Egli non aveva fatto ancora nè la terra, nè i fiumi, nè i cardini del mondo.
27 I was already present: when he prepared the heavens; when, with a certain law and a circuit, he fortified the abyss;	27 Quando preparava i cieli io ero presente, quando con legge inviolabile chiuse sotto la volta l'abisso,
28 when he made firm the sky above, and set free the fountains of waters;	28 quando rese stabile in alto la volta celeste e vi sospese le fonti delle acque,
29 when he encompassed the sea within its limits, and laid down a law for the waters, lest they transgress their limits; when he weighed the foundations of the earth.	29 quando fissava al mare i suoi confini e dava legge alle acque di non passare il loro termine, quando gettava i fondamenti della terra,
30 I was with him in composing all things. And I was delighted, throughout every day, by playing in his sight at all times,	30 io ero con lui a ordinare tutte le cose. Sempre nella gioia, scherzavo dinanzi a lui continuamente,
31 playing in globe of the earth. And my delight was to be with the sons of men.	31 scherzavo nell'universo: è mia delizia stare coi figli degli uomini.
32 Therefore, sons, hear me now. Blessed are those who preserve my ways.	32 Or dunque, o figli, ascoltatemi: beati quelli che battono le mie vie.
33 Listen to discipline, and become wise, and do not be willing to cast it aside.	33 Ascoltate i miei avvisi per diventar saggi, non li ricusate.
34 Blessed is the man who listens to me, and who stands watch at my gates everyday, and who observes at the posts of my doors.	34 Beato l'uomo che mi ascolta e veglia ogni giorno alla mia porta, e aspetta all'ingresso della mia casa.
35 He who finds me, finds life, and he will draw salvation from the Lord.	35 Chi troverà me avrà trovata la vita, e riceverà dal Signore la salute.
36 But he who sins against me will wound his own soul. All who hate me love death.”	36 Ma chi peccherà contro di me farà torto a se stesso. Tutti quelli che mi odiano amano la morte ».
