Proverbs 8

CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAIN	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Does not wisdom call out, and prudence bestow her voice?	1 ¿No está llamando la Sabiduría y no hace oír su voz la Inteligencia?
2 At the summits and the tops of exalted places, standing above the ways, in the midst of the paths,	2 En las cumbres más altas que bordean el camino, apostada en el cruce de los senderos,
3 beside the gates of the city, at the very doors, she speaks, saying:	3 al lado de las puertas, a la entrada de la ciudad, en los lugares de acceso, ella dice en alta voz:
4 “O men, to you I call out, and my voice is to the sons of men.	4 «A ustedes, hombres, yo los llamo, y mi voz se dirige a los seres humanos.
5 O little ones, understand discernment. And you who are unwise, turn your souls.	5 Entiendan, incautos, qué es la perspicacia; entiendan, necios, qué es la sensatez.
6 Listen, for I will speak about great things, and my lips will be opened, so as to foretell what is right.	6 Escuchen: es muy importante lo que voy a decir, mis labios se abren para expresar lo que es recto.
7 My throat shall practice truth, and my lips shall detest the impious.	7 Sí, mi boca profiere la verdad, la maldad es una abominación para mis labios.
8 All my words are just. There is no depravity in them, and no perversity.	8 Todas mis palabras son conformes a la justicia, no hay en ellas nada retorcido o sinuoso;
9 They are upright to those who understand, and equitable to those who discover knowledge.	9 todas son exactas para el que sabe entender y rectas para los que ha hallado la ciencia.
10 Accept my discipline, and not money. Choose the doctrine that is greater than gold.	10 Adquieran mi instrucción, no la plata, y la ciencia más que el oro acrisolado.
11 For wisdom is better than all that is most precious, and everything that is desirable cannot compare to her.	11 Porque la Sabiduría vale más que las perlas, y nada apetecible se le puede igualar».
12 I, wisdom, dwell in counsel, and I am inside learned thoughts.	12 Yo, la Sabiduría, habito con la prudencia y poseo la ciencia de la reflexión.
13 The fear of the Lord hates evil. I detest arrogance, and pride, and every wicked way, and a mouth with a double tongue.	13 El temor del Señor es detestar el mal: yo detesto la soberbia, el orgullo, la mala conducta y la boca perversa.
14 Counsel is mine, and equity. Prudence is mine. Strength is mine.	14 A mí me pertenecen el consejo y la habilidad, yo soy la inteligencia, mío es el poder.
15 Through me, kings reign and legislators decree just conditions.	15 Por mí reinan los reyes y los soberanos decretan la justicia;
16 Through me, princes rule and the powerful decree justice.	16 por mí gobiernan los príncipes y los nobles juzgan la tierra.
17 I love those who love me. And those who stand watch for me until morning shall discover me.	17 Yo amo a los que me aman y los que me buscan ardientemente, me encontrarán.
18 With me, are wealth and glory, superb riches and justice.	18 Conmigo están la riqueza y la gloria, los bienes perdurables y la justicia.
19 For my fruit is better than gold and precious stones, and my progeny better than choice silver.	19 Mi fruto vale más que el oro, que el oro fino, y rindo más que la plata acrisolada.
20 I walk in the way of justice, in the midst of the paths of judgment,	20 Yo voy por el sendero de la justicia, en medio de las sendas de la equidad,
21 so that I may enrich those who love me, and thus complete their treasures.	21 para repartir posesiones a los que me aman y para colmar sus tesoros.
22 The Lord possessed me in the beginning of his ways, before he made anything, from the beginning.	22 El Señor me creó como primicia de sus caminos, antes de sus obras, desde siempre.
23 I was ordained from eternity, and out of antiquity, before the earth was formed.	23 Yo fui formada desde la eternidad, desde el comienzo, antes de los orígenes de la tierra.
24 The abyss did not yet exist, and I was already conceived; neither had the fountains of waters yet erupted.	24 Yo nací cuando no existían los abismos, cuando no había fuentes de aguas caudalosas.
25 The mountains, with their great mass, had not yet been established. Before the hills, I was brought forth.	25 Antes que fueran cimentadas las montañas, antes que las colinas, yo nací,
26 Still he had not made the earth, and the rivers, and the poles of the globe of the earth.	26 cuando él no había hecho aún la tierra ni los espacios ni los primeros elementos del mundo.
27 I was already present: when he prepared the heavens; when, with a certain law and a circuit, he fortified the abyss;	27 Cuando él afianzaba el cielo, yo estaba allí; cuando trazaba el horizonte sobre el océano,
28 when he made firm the sky above, and set free the fountains of waters;	28 cuando condensaba las nubes en lo alto, cuando infundía poder a las fuentes del océano,
29 when he encompassed the sea within its limits, and laid down a law for the waters, lest they transgress their limits; when he weighed the foundations of the earth.	29 cuando fijaba su límite al mar para que las aguas no transgredieran sus bordes, cuando afirmaba los cimientos de la tierra,
30 I was with him in composing all things. And I was delighted, throughout every day, by playing in his sight at all times,	30 yo estaba a su lado como un hijo querido y lo deleitaba día tras día, recreándome delante de él en todo tiempo,
31 playing in globe of the earth. And my delight was to be with the sons of men.	31 recreándome sobre la faz de la tierra, y mi delicia era estar con los hijos de los hombres.
32 Therefore, sons, hear me now. Blessed are those who preserve my ways.	32 Y ahora, hijos, escúchenme: ¡felices los que observan mis caminos!
33 Listen to discipline, and become wise, and do not be willing to cast it aside.	33 Escuchen la instrucción y sean sabios: ¡no la descuiden!
34 Blessed is the man who listens to me, and who stands watch at my gates everyday, and who observes at the posts of my doors.	34 ¡Feliz el hombre que me escucha, velando a mis puertas día tras día y vigilando a la entrada de mi casa!
35 He who finds me, finds life, and he will draw salvation from the Lord.	35 Porque el que me encuentra ha encontrado la vida y ha obtenido el favor del Señor;
36 But he who sins against me will wound his own soul. All who hate me love death.”	36 pero el que peca contra mí se hace daño a sí mismo y todos los que me odian, aman la muerte.
