Psalms 93

1 A Psalm of David himself. The Fourth Sabbath. The Lord is the God of retribution. The God of retribution acts in order to deliver.	1 - Salmo di David. Per il quarto giorno della settimana. Il Dio delle vendette, il Signore, il Dio delle vendette liberamente agisce.
2 Lift yourself up, for you judge the earth. Repay the arrogant with retribution.	2 Lèvati su, tu che giudichi la terra, rendi ai superbi quel che si meritano.
3 How long will sinners, O Lord, how long will sinners glory?	3 Fino a quando gli empi, o Signore, fino a quando gli empi si glorieranno?
4 How long will they utter and speak iniquity? How long will all who work injustice speak out?	4 apriran la bocca e parleran [con] protervia? parleranno [e si vanteranno] tutti gli operatori d'iniquità?
5 They have humiliated your people, O Lord, and they have harassed your inheritance.	5 Il tuo popolo, o Signore, opprimonoe la tua eredità malmenano.
6 They have executed the widow and the new arrival, and they have slaughtered the orphan.	6 La vedova e il forestiero uccidonoe gli orfanelli assassinano!
7 And they have said, “The Lord will not see, nor will the God of Jacob understand.”	7 E dicono: «Non vedrà il Signore, nè s'accorgerà il Dio di Giacobbe!».
8 Understand, you senseless ones among the people. And be wise at last, you foolish ones.	8 Intendetela, voi stupidi nel popolo, e voi, stolti, fate una volta senno.
9 He who formed the ear, will he not hear? And he who forged the eye, does he not look closely?	9 Chi ha piantato l'orecchio, non udrà? o chi ha plasmato l'occhio non ci vede?
10 He who chastises nations, he who teaches man knowledge, will he not rebuke?	10 Chi ammonisce le genti non punirà? lui che insegna all'uomo la sapienza?
11 The Lord knows the thoughts of men: that these are in vain.	11 Il Signore sa che i pensieri degli uomini son vani.
12 Blessed is the man whom you will instruct, O Lord. And you will teach him from your law.	12 Beato l'uomo che tu istruisci, o Signore, e nella tua legge l'ammaestri,
13 So may you soothe him from the evil days, until a pit may be dug for sinners.	13 per sollevarlo ne' giorni tristi, finchè sia scavata per l'empio la fossa.
14 For the Lord will not drive away his people, and he will not abandon his inheritance,	14 Perchè non rigetta il Signore il suo popolo, e la sua eredità non abbandona,
15 even until the time when justice is being converted into judgment, and when those who are close to justice are all those who are upright of heart.	15 fino a che torni la giustizia nel giudicare e stian con lei tutti i retti di cuore.
16 Who will rise up with me against the malignant? Or who will stand with me against the workers of iniquity?	16 Chi si leverà per me contro i malvagi? o chi starà con me contro gli operatori d'iniquità?
17 Except that the Lord assisted me, my soul almost would have dwelt in Hell.	17 Se non fosse stato che il Signore m'ha aiutato, abiterebbe già negli Inferi l'anima mia!
18 If ever I said, “My foot is slipping,” then your mercy, O Lord, assisted me.	18 Se dicevo: «Vacilla il mio piede!», la tua grazia, o Signore, m'aiutava.
19 According to the multitude of my sorrows in my heart, your consolations have given joy to my soul.	19 Se molti erano i miei affanni entro il mio cuore, le tue consolazioni rallegravan l'anima mia.
20 Does the seat of iniquity adhere to you, you who contrive hardship within a commandment?	20 Forsechè fa lega con te il tribunale dell'ingiustizia?[con te] che [sì grave] travaglio c'imponi co' tuoi comandamenti?
21 They will hunt down the soul of the just, and they will condemn innocent blood.	21 Insidiano alla vita del giusto, e il sangue innocente condannano!
22 And the Lord has been made into a refuge for me, and my God into the assistance of my hope.	22 Ma il Signore è il mio rifugioe il mio Dio è l'aiuto in cui spero.
23 And he will repay them their iniquity, and he will destroy them in their malice. The Lord our God will utterly destroy them.	23 E renderà loro la loro ingiustizia, e nella malizia loro li disperderà, li disperderà il Signore Iddio nostro.
