1 Wurdet ihr also auferweckt mit Christus, so sucht, was droben ist, wo Christus ist, sitzend zur Rechten Gottes!	1 If then you were raised with Christ, seek what is above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.
2 Was droben ist, habt im Sinn, nicht das auf Erden!	2 Think of what is above, not of what is on earth.
3 Denn gestorben seid ihr, und euer Leben ist mit Christus verborgen in Gott.	3 For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
4 Wenn Christus erscheinen wird, er, unser Leben, werdet auch ihr mit ihm erscheinen in Herrlichkeit.	4 When Christ your life appears, then you too will appear with him in glory.
5 So ertötet denn, was an euren Gliedern noch irdisch ist: Unzucht, Unlauterkeit, Leidenschaft, böse Begierde und die Habsucht, die Götzendienst ist.	5 Put to death, then, the parts of you that are earthly: immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and the greed that is idolatry.
6 Derentwegen kommt das Strafgericht Gottes über die Söhne des Ungehorsams;	6 Because of these the wrath of God is coming (upon the disobedient).
7 deren Weg seid ehedem auch ihr gegangen, als ihr in diesen Dingen lebtet.	7 By these you too once conducted yourselves, when you lived in that way.
8 Jetzt aber legt auch ihr dies alles ab: Zorn, Erbitterung, Bosheit, Lästerung, unehrbares Reden eures Mundes.	8 But now you must put them all away: anger, fury, malice, slander, and obscene language out of your mouths.
9 Belügt nicht einander, die ihr den alten Menschen samt seinen Werken ausgezogen habt	9 Stop lying to one another, since you have taken off the old self with its practices
10 und angezogen den neuen, den man in seiner Erneuerung wiedererkennen soll nach dem Bilde dessen, der ihn schuf (1Mos 1,27).	10 and have put on the new self, which is being renewed, for knowledge, in the image of its creator.
11 Da gilt nicht mehr Hellene und Jude, nicht Beschneidung und Unbeschnittensein, nicht Barbar, Skythe, Knecht, Freier, sondern alles und in allem Christus.	11 Here there is not Greek and Jew, circumcision and uncircumcision, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free; but Christ is all and in all.
12 So ziehet denn an als von Gott erwählte Heilige und Geliebte herzliches Erbarmen, Güte, Demut, Milde, Geduld!	12 Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, heartfelt compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience,
13 Ertragt und verzeiht einander, falls einer dem andern gegenüber zu klagen hat; wie auch der Herr euch verzieh, so sollt auch ihr es tun.	13 bearing with one another and forgiving one another, if one has a grievance against another; as the Lord has forgiven you, so must you also do.
14 Über all das ziehet die Liebe an, sie ist das zusammenschließende Band der Vollendung.	14 And over all these put on love, that is, the bond of perfection.
15 Der Friede Christi herrsche in euren Herzen; für ihn seid ihr ja gerufen in dem einen Leib. Auch dankbar sollt ihr sein.	15 And let the peace of Christ control your hearts, the peace into which you were also called in one body. And be thankful.
16 Das Wort Christi wohne in seiner Fülle unter euch: lehret und mahnet einander in Weisheit, und singet voll Dank in euren Herzen Gott Psalmen, Hymnen und geistliche Lieder!	16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, as in all wisdom you teach and admonish one another, singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.
17 Alles, was ihr tut, in Wort oder Werk, das tut alles im Namen des Herrn Jesus, und saget Dank Gott, dem Vater, durch ihn!	17 And whatever you do, in word or in deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
18 Ihr Frauen, seid untertan euren Männern, wie es sich geziemt im Herrn!	18 Wives, be subordinate to your husbands, as is proper in the Lord.
19 Ihr Männer, liebt eure Frauen und seid nicht bitter gegen sie!	19 Husbands, love your wives, and avoid any bitterness toward them.
20 Ihr Kinder, gehorcht den Eltern in allem; denn das ist wohlgefällig im Herrn.	20 Children, obey your parents in everything, for this is pleasing to the Lord.
21 Ihr Väter, verbittert nicht eure Kinder, damit sie nicht mutlos werden!	21 Fathers, do not provoke your children, so they may not become discouraged.
22 Ihr Sklaven, gehorcht in allem den irdischen Herren, nicht in Augendienerei, um Menschen zu gefallen, sondern in Einfalt des Herzens, in der Furcht des Herrn!	22 Slaves, obey your human masters in everything, not only when being watched, as currying favor, but in simplicity of heart, fearing the Lord.
23 Was ihr tut, das tut von Herzen als für den Herrn und nicht für Menschen,	23 Whatever you do, do from the heart, as for the Lord and not for others,
24 und wisset: ihr werdet vom Herrn als Lohn das Erbe empfangen; dient Christus, dem Herrn!	24 knowing that you will receive from the Lord the due payment of the inheritance; be slaves of the Lord Christ.
25 Denn wer unrecht tut, wird zurückerhalten, was er unrecht tat, und da gilt kein Ansehen der Person.	25 For the wrongdoer will receive recompense for the wrong he committed, and there is no partiality.
