1 Ein Mann mit Namen Ananias verkaufte mit Saphira, seiner Frau, ein Grundstück,	1 But a certain man named Ananias, with his wife Sapphira, sold a field,
2 unterschlug aber unter Mitwissen auch selner Frau vom Erlös und brachte nur einen Teil und legte ihn zu Füßen der Apostel.	2 and he was deceitful about the price of the field, with his wife’s consent. And bringing only part of it, he placed it at the feet of the Apostles.
3 Petrus aber sprach: "Ananias, warum erfüllte der Satan dein Herz, daß du den Heiligen Geist belogen und vom Erlös des Grundstückes etwas unterschlagen hast?	3 But Peter said: “Ananias, why has Satan tempted your heart, so that you would lie to the Holy Spirit and be deceitful about the price of the land?
4 Wäre es nicht unverkauft dein eigen geblieben und auch nach dem Verkauf zu deiner Verfügung gestanden? Wie kamst du in deinem Herzen zu solcher Tat? Nicht Menschen hast du belogen, sondern Gott!"	4 Did it not belong to you while you retained it? And having sold it, was it not in your power? Why have you set this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men, but to God!”
5 Als Ananias diese Worte hörte, fiel er um und gab den Geist auf, und große Furcht kam über alle, die davon hörten.	5 Then Ananias, upon hearing these words, fell down and expired. And a great fear overwhelmed all who heard of it.
6 Die jungen Männer standen auf, hüllten ihn ein, trugen ihn hinaus und begruben ihn.	6 And the young men rose up and removed him; and carrying him out, they buried him.
7 Nach einer Zwischenzeit von etwa drei Stunden geschah es, da kam auch seine Frau herbei, ohne zu wissen, was geschehen war.	7 Then about the space of three hours passed, and his wife entered, not knowing what had happened.
8 Petrus sprach zu ihr: "Sage mir, habt ihr das Grundstück um so viel verkauft?" Sie sagte: "Ja, um so viel!"	8 And Peter said to her, “Tell me, woman, if you sold the field for this amount?” And she said, “Yes, for that amount.”
9 Petrus aber entgegnete ihr: "Warum habt ihr euch verbündet, den Geist des Herrn zu versuchen? Siehe, die Füße derer, die deinen Mann begruben, sind schon vor der Tür und werden auch dich hinaustragen."	9 And Peter said to her: “Why have you agreed together to test the Spirit of the Lord? Behold, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they shall carry you out!”
10 Und sie fiel auf der Stelle vor seinen Füßen um und gab den Geist auf; die jungen Männer kamen herein, fanden sie tot und trugen sie hinaus und begruben sie bei ihrem Mann.	10 Immediately, she fell down before his feet and expired. Then the young men entered and found her dead. And they carried her out and buried her next to her husband.
11 Große Furcht kam über die ganze Gemeinde und über alle die davon hörten.	11 And a great fear came over the entire Church and over all who heard these things.
12 Durch die Hände der Apostel geschahen viele Zeichen und Wunder unter dem Volke. Sie waren alle einmütig beisammen in der Halle Salomons;	12 And through the hands of the Apostles many signs and wonders were accomplished among the people. And they all met with one accord at Solomon’s portico.
13 von den anderen wagte niemand, sich zu ihnen zu gesellen, aber mit Hochachtung redete das Volk von ihnen.	13 And among the others, no one dared to join himself to them. But the people magnified them.
14 Mehr und mehr wuchs die Zahl derer, die an den Herrn glaubten, Scharen von Männern und Frauen.	14 Now the multitude of men and women who believed in the Lord was ever increasing,
15 Ja, man trug sogar die Kranken auf die Gassen und legte sie auf Betten und Tragbahren, damit, wenn Petrus käme, wenigstens sein Schatten auf einen von ihnen falle.	15 so much so that they laid the infirm in the streets, placing them on beds and stretchers, so that, as Peter arrived, at least his shadow might fall upon any one of them, and they would be freed from their infirmities.
16 Es kam aber auch das Volk der umliegenden Städte in Menge nach Jerusalem und brachte Kranke und von unreinen Geistern Geplagte, die alle Heilung fanden.	16 But a multitude also hurried to Jerusalem from the neighboring cities, carrying the sick and those troubled by unclean spirits, who were all healed.
17 Da erhoben sich der Hohepriester und alle seine Anhänger - nämlich die Partei der Sadduzäer -, und von Eifersucht erfüllt,	17 Then the high priest and all those who were with him, that is, the heretical sect of the Sadducees, rose up and were filled with jealousy.
18 legten sie Hand an die Apostel und setzten sie in das öffentliche Gefängnis.	18 And they laid hands on the Apostles, and they placed them in the common prison.
19 Ein Engel des Herrn aber öffnete in der Nacht die Türen des Gefängnisses, führte sie hinaus und sprach:	19 But in the night, an Angel of the Lord opened the doors of the prison and led them out, saying,
20 "Geht hin, tretet auf und kündet im Tempel dem Volk alle Worte dieses Lebens!"	20 “Go and stand in the temple, speaking to the people all these words of life.”
21 Als sie das hörten, gingen sie bei Tagesanbruch in den Tempel und lehrten. Der Hohepriester aber und seine Anhänger fanden sich ein, beriefen den Hohen Rat und die gesamte Ältestenschaft der Söhne Israels und schickten zum Gefängnis, um sie vorführen zu lassen.	21 And when they had heard this, they entered the temple at first light, and they were teaching. Then the high priest, and those who were with him, approached, and they called together the council and all the elders of the sons of Israel. And they sent to the prison to have them brought.
22 Als jedoch die Diener hinkamen und sie nicht im Gefängnis vorhanden, kehrte sie zurück und meldeten:	22 But when the attendants had arrived, and, upon opening the prison, had not found them, they returned and reported to them,
23 "Das Gefängnis fanden wir zwar mit aller Sorgfalt verschlossen und die Wachen vor den Türen stehen, als wir aber öffneten, fanden wir niemand darin."	23 saying: “We found the prison certainly locked up with all diligence, and the guards standing before the door. But upon opening it, we found no one within.”
24 Als sie diese Worte hörten, gerieten der Hauptmann des Tempels und die Hohenpriester ihretwegen in große Verlegenheit und fragten sich, was das werden solle.	24 Then, when the magistrate of the temple and the chief priests heard these words, they were uncertain about them, as to what should happen.
25 Da kam einer herbei und meldete ihnen: "Seht, die Männer, die ihr ins Gefängnis gesetzt habt, sind im Tempel und lehren das Volk."	25 But someone arrived and reported to them, “Behold, the men whom you placed in prison are in the temple, standing and teaching the people.”
26 Darauf ging der Tempelhauptmann mit seinen Leuten hin und führte sie her, jedoch ohne Gewalt; denn sie fürchteten, vom Volk gesteinigt zu werden.	26 Then the magistrate, with the attendants, went and brought them without force. For they were afraid of the people, lest they be stoned.
27 Sie brachten sie und stellten sie vor den Hohen Rat, und der Hohepriester befragte sie:	27 And when they had brought them, they stood them before the council. And the high priest questioned them,
28 "Haben wir euch nicht streng geboten, nicht in diesem Namen zu lehren? Doch seht, ihr habt Jerusalem erfüllt mit eurer Lehre und wollt über uns das Blut dieses Menschen bringen!"	28 and said: “We strongly order you not to teach in this name. For behold, you have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and you wish to bring the blood of this man upon us.”
29 Petrus und die Apostel antworteten: "Man muß Gott mehr gehorchen als den Menschen.	29 But Peter and the Apostles responded by saying: “It is necessary to obey God, more so than men.
30 Der Gott unserer Väter hat Jesus auferweckt, ihn, den ihr ans Holz gehängt und ums Leben gebracht habt.	30 The God of our fathers has raised up Jesus, whom you put to death by hanging him on a tree.
31 Ihn hat Gott als Fürsten und Heiland erhöht zu seiner Rechten, daß er Israel Bekehrung bringe und Vergebung der Sünden.	31 It is he whom God has exalted at his right hand as Ruler and Savior, so as to offer repentance and the remission of sins to Israel.
32 Wir sind Zeugen für das Gesagte, und Zeuge ist der Heilige Geist, den Gott denen verlieh, die ihm gehorchen."	32 And we are witnesses of these things, with the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to all who are obedient to him.”
33 Als sie dies hörten, ergrimmten sie und sannen darauf, sie umzubringen.	33 When they had heard these things, they were deeply wounded, and they were planning to put them to death.
34 Da erhob sich im Hohen Rat ein Pharisäer namens Gamaliel, ein Gesetzeslehrer, angesehen beim ganzen Volk; er beantragte, sie möchten für kurz die Männer hinausführen,	34 But someone in the council, a Pharisee named Gamaliel, a teacher of the law honored by all the people, rose up and ordered the men to be put outside briefly.
35 und sprach zu ihnen: "Ihr Männer von Israel, überlegt euch wohl, was ihr mit diesen Menschen tun wollt.	35 And he said to them: “Men of Israel, you should be careful in your intentions about these men.
36 Denn vor diesen Tagen stand Theudas auf und behauptete, etwas Besonderes zu sein. Eine Zahl von etwa vierhundert Männern schloß sich ihm an; er wurde getötet, und alle, die zu ihm hielten, wurden zerstreut und vernichtet.	36 For before these days, Theudas stepped forward, asserting himself to be someone, and a number of men, about four hundred, joined with him. But he was killed, and all who believed in him were scattered, and they were reduced to nothing.
37 Nach ihm erhob sich Judas, der Galiläer, in den Tagen der Schätzung und brachte Leute auf seine Seite; auch dieser kam um, und alle, die zu ihm hielten, wurden zerstreut.	37 After this one, Judas the Galilean stepped forward, in the days of the enrollment, and he turned the people toward himself. But he also perished, and all of them, as many as had joined with him, were dispersed.
38 Und für diesmal sage ich euch: Steht ab von diesen Menschen und laßt sie in Ruhe; denn ist dieses Vorhaben oder dieses Werk von Menschen, wird es zunichte werden;	38 And now therefore, I say to you, withdraw from these men and leave them alone. For if this counsel or work is of men, it will be broken.
39 ist es aber von Gott, könnt ihr sie nicht vernichten; ihr könntet sonst gar als Widersacher Gottes gefunden werden." Sie ließen sich von ihm überzeugen	39 Yet truly, if it is of God, you will not be able to break it, and perhaps you might be found to have fought against God.” And they agreed with him.
40 und riefen die Apostel herein, ließen sie züchtigen, geboten ihnen, nicht im Namen Jesu zu reden, und ließen sie frei.	40 And calling in the Apostles, having beaten them, they warned them not to speak at all in the name of Jesus. And they dismissed them.
41 Diese aber gingen weg vom Hohen Rat, voll Freude, daß sie gewürdigt worden waren, um des Namens Jesu willen Schmach zu leiden.	41 And indeed, they went forth from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were considered worthy to suffer insult on behalf of the name of Jesus.
42 Sie hörten nicht auf, täglich im Tempel und in den Häusern zu lehren und die Frohbotschaft zu künden von Christus Jesus.	42 And every day, in the temple and among the houses, they did not cease to teach and to evangelize Christ Jesus.
