1 Darauf bestimmte der Herr noch weitere [zweiund]siebzig und sandte sie zu zweien vor sich her in jede Stadt und jeden Ort, wohin er selber zu kommen gedachte.	1 And after these things the Lord appointed also other seventy-two: and he sent them two and two before his face into every city and place whither he himself was to come.
2 Er sprach zu ihnen: "Die Ernte ist groß, doch der Arbeiter sind wenige. Bittet daher den Herrn der Ernte, daß er Arbeiter aussende zu seiner Ernte.	2 And he said to them: The harvest indeed is great, but the labourers are few. Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he send labourers into his harvest.
3 Geht hin! Seht, ich sende euch wie Lämmer mitten unter Wölfe.	3 Go: Behold I send you as lambs among wolves.
4 Ihr sollt nicht Beutel mitnehmen, nicht Tasche, nicht Schuhe; und niemand auf dem Weg sollt ihr grüßen.	4 Carry neither purse, nor scrip, nor shoes; and salute no man by the way.
5 Betretet ihr ein Haus, so sagt zuerst: Friede diesem Haus!	5 Into whatsoever house you enter, first say: Peace be to this house.
6 Und ist darin ein Sohn des Friedens, so wird euer Friede sich niederlassen auf ihn, wenn aber nicht, so wird er auf euch zurückkehren.	6 And if the son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon him; but if not, it shall return to you.
7 Bleibt in jenem Hause und eßt und trinkt von dem, was ihrer ist; denn der Arbeiter ist seines Lohnes wert. Zieht nicht von einem Haus in das andere!	7 And in the same house, remain, eating and drinking such things as they have: for the labourer is worthy of his hire. Remove not from house to house.
8 Betretet ihr eine Stadt und nimmt man euch auf, so eßt, was euch vorgesetzt wird;	8 And into what city soever you enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you.
9 heilt die Kranken in ihr und sagt ihnen: Genaht hat sich euch das Reich Gottes.	9 And heal the sick that are therein, and say to them: The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.
10 Betretet ihr eine Stadt und nimmt man euch nicht auf, so geht hinaus auf ihre Straßen und sprecht:	10 But into whatsoever city you enter, and they receive you not, going forth into the streets thereof, say:
11 Sogar den Staub, der uns von eurer Stadt an den Füßen hängt, schütteln wir auf euch; doch sollt ihr wissen: Genaht hat sich das Reich Gottes.	11 Even the very dust of your city that cleaveth to us, we wipe off against you. Yet know this, that the kingdom of God is at hand.
12 Ich sage euch: Sodoma wird es an jenem Tage erträglicher ergehen als jener Stadt.	12 I say to you, it shall be more tolerable at that day for Sodom, than for that city.
13 Wehe dir, Chorazin! Wehe dir, Bethsaida! Denn wären in Tyrus und Sidon die Wunder geschehen, die bei euch geschahen, sie hätten längst, in Sack und Asche sitzend, sich bekehrt.	13 Woe to thee, Corozain, woe to thee, Bethsaida. For if in Tyre and Sidon had been wrought the mighty works that have been wrought in you, they would have done penance long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.
14 Doch Tyrus und Sidon wird es erträglicher ergehen beim Gericht als euch.	14 But it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgement, than for you.
15 Und du, Kapharnaum, wirst du wohl "bis in den Himmel erhoben werden? Bis in die Unterwelt wirst du geschleudert werden" (Is 14,13-15).	15 And thou, Capharnaum, which art exalted unto heaven, thou shalt be thrust down to hell.
16 Wer euch hört, der hört mich; und wer euch verachtet, der verachtet mich; wer aber mich verachtet, der verachtet den, der mich gesandt hat."	16 He that heareth you, heareth me; and he that despiseth you, despiseth me; and he that despiseth me, despiseth him that sent me.
17 Die [Zweiund]siebzig kehrten voll Freude zurück und sagten: "Herr, sogar die Dämonen sind uns untertan in deinem Namen."	17 And the seventy-two returned with joy, saying: Lord, the devils also are subject to us in thy name.
18 Er entgegnete ihnen: "Ich sah den Satan wie einen Blitz vom Himmel fallen.	18 And he said to them: I saw Satan like lightening falling from heaven.
19 Seht, ich habe euch Macht gegeben, auf "Schlangen und Skorpione zu treten" (Ps 91,13) sowie über jede feindliche Gewalt, und nichts wird euch schaden.	19 Behold, I have given you power to tread upon serpents and scorpions, and upon all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall hurt you.
20 Doch freut euch nicht darüber, daß die Geister euch untertan sind; sondern freut euch, daß eure Namen aufgezeichnet sind im Himmel."	20 But yet rejoice not in this, that spirits are subject unto you; but rejoice in this, that your names are written in heaven.
21 In jener Stunde frohlockte Jesus im Heiligen Geist und sprach: "Ich preise dich, Vater, Herr des Himmels und der Erde, daß du dies vor Weisen und Klugen verborgen, Kleinen aber geoffenbart hast. Ja, Vater, so war es wohlgefällig vor dir.	21 In that same hour, he rejoiced in the Holy Ghost, and said: I confess to thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hidden these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them to little ones. Yea, Father, for so it hath seemed good in thy sight.
22 Alles ist mir übergeben von meinem Vater. Niemand erkennt, wer der Sohn ist, als der Vater, und wer der Vater ist, als der Sohn und wem der Sohn es offenbaren will."	22 All things are delivered to me by my Father; and no one knoweth who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and to whom the Son will reveal him.
23 Und den Jüngern allein sich zuwendend, sprach er: "Selig die Augen, die sehen, was ihr seht!	23 And turning to his disciples, he said: Blessed are the eyes that see the things which you see.
24 Denn ich sage euch: Viele Propheten und Könige verlangten zu sehen, was ihr seht, und haben es nicht gesehen, und zu hören, was ihr hört, und haben es nicht gehört."	24 For I say to you, that many prophets and kings have desired to see the things that you see, and have not seen them; and to hear the things that you hear, and have not heard them.
25 Und siehe, ein Gesetzeslehrer trat heran, um ihn auf die Probe zu stellen, und sagte: "Meister, was muß ich tun, um ewiges Leben zu erlangen?"	25 And behold a certain lawyer stood up, tempting him, and saying, Master, what must I do to possess eternal life?
26 Er sprach zu ihm: "Was steht geschrieben im Gesetz? Wie liest du?"	26 But he said to him: What is written in the law? how readest thou?
27 Jener antwortete: ""Du sollst den Herrn, deinen Gott, lieben aus deinem ganzen Herzen, aus deiner ganzen Seele, aus deiner ganzen Kraft und aus deinem ganzen Denken" (5Mos 6,5) und: "Deinen Nächsten wie dich selbst"" (3Mos 19,18).	27 He answering, said: Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with thy whole heart, and with thy whole soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind: and thy neighbour as thyself.
28 Er sprach zu ihm: "Du hast richtig geantwortet; "tu das, so wirst du leben!"" (3Mos 18,5).	28 And he said to him: Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.
29 Jener aber wollte sich rechtfertigen und sagte zu Jesus: "Und wer ist mein Nächster?"	29 But he willing to justify himself, said to Jesus: And who is my neighbour?
30 Jesus nahm das Wort und sprach: "Es ging ein Mann von Jerusalem hinab nach Jericho und fiel unter die Räuber. Die plünderten ihn aus, schlugen ihn wund, ließen ihn halbtot liegen und gingen davon.	30 And Jesus answering, said: A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among robbers, who also stripped him, and having wounded him went away, leaving him half dead.
31 Da fügte es sich, daß ein Priester auf jenem Weg hinabging; er sah ihn und ging vorüber.	31 And it chanced, that a certain priest went down the same way: and seeing him, passed by.
32 Ebenso ging auch ein Levit, der an die Stelle kam und ihn sah, vorüber.	32 In like manner also a Levite, when he was near the place and saw him, passed by.
33 Ein Samariter aber, der des Weges zog, kam hinzu, sah ihn und erbarmte sich seiner.	33 But a certain Samaritan being on his journey, came near him; and seeing him, was moved with compassion.
34 Er ging hin, verband seine Wunden und goß Öl und Wein darauf. Dann hob er ihn auf sein Reittier, brachte ihn zu einer Herberge und trug Sorge für ihn.	34 And going up to him, bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine: and setting him upon his own beast, brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
35 Am andern Tag zog er zwei Denare heraus, gab sie dem Wirt und sagte: Trag Sorge für ihn, und was du darüber noch aufwendest, werde ich dir auf dem Rückweg bezahlen.	35 And the next day he took out two pence, and gave to the host, and said: Take care of him; and whatsoever thou shalt spend over and above, I, at my return, will repay thee.
36 Wer von diesen dreien, meinst du, hat sich als Nächster erwiesen an dem, der unter die Räuber fiel?"	36 Which of these three, in thy opinion, was neighbour to him that fell among the robbers?
37 Der antwortete: "Der Barmherzigkeit übte an ihm." Da sagte Jesus zu ihm: "Geh hin und tu desgleichen!"	37 But he said: He that shewed mercy to him. And Jesus said to him: Go, and do thou in like manner.
38 Auf ihrer Wanderung kam er in ein Dorf. Eine Frau mit Namen Martha nahm ihn auf in ihr Haus.	38 Now it came to pass as they went, that he entered into a certain town: and a certain woman named Martha, received him into her house.
39 Sie hatte eine Schwester, die Maria hieß, und diese setzte sich zu den Füßen des Herrn und lauschte seinem Wort.	39 And she had a sister called Mary, who sitting also at the Lord's feet, heard his word.
40 Martha aber, viel in Anspruch genommen mit dem Bedienen, trat hinzu und sagte: "Herr, kümmert es dich nicht, daß meine Schwester mich allein ließ in der Bewirtung? Sage ihr doch, sie möge mir helfen."	40 But Martha was busy about much serving. Who stood and said: Lord, hast thou no care that my sister hath left me alone to serve? speak to her therefore, that she help me.
41 Der Herr antwortete ihr: "Martha, Martha, du machst dir Sorge und Unruhe um vieles;	41 And the Lord answering, said to her: Martha, Martha, thou art careful, and art troubled about many things:
42 eines nur ist notwendig. Maria hat den guten Teil erwählt; der wird nicht genommen werden von ihr."	42 But one thing is necessary. Mary hath chosen the best part, which shall not be taken away from her.
