Hosea 12

Pattloch Bibel	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Mit Lüge umgibt mich Ephraim, mit Betrug das Haus Israel. Aber Juda - noch kennt es Gott, und Volk der Heiligen wird es genannt.	1 Ephraim besieges me with lying, the House of Israel with duplicity. (But Judah stil is on God's side, heis faithful to the Holy One.)
2 Ephraim jagt dem Winde nach und läuft die ganze Zeit hinter dem Ostwind her, häuft Lügen und Gewalt. Mit Assur geht man ein Bündnis ein, nach Ägypten liefert man Öl.	2 Ephraim feeds himself on wind, all day he chases the wind from the East, he heaps up cheating andviolence; they make a treaty with Assyria, at the same time sending oil to Egypt.
3 Mit Israel tritt der Herr ins Gericht, um Jakob zur Rechenschaft zu ziehen nach seinem Wandel; nach seinen Taten vergilt er ihm.	3 Yahweh has a case against Judah, he will punish Jacob as his conduct merits, he will repay him as hisdeeds deserve.
4 Im Mutterleib überlistete er seinen Bruder, und in seiner Manneskraft rang er mit Gott.	4 In the very womb he overreached his brother, in maturity he wrestled against God.
5 Er rang mit dem Engel und siegte. Er weinte und flehte ihn an. In Betel fand er ihn, und dort redete er mit ihm:	5 He wrestled with the angel and beat him, he wept and pleaded with him. He met him at Bethel andthere God spoke to us-
6 [Nämlich der Herr, der Gott der Heerscharen, dessen Name Jahwe lautet.]	6 yes, Yahweh, God Sabaoth, Yahweh is his title!
7 "Du sollst zurückkehren zu deinem Gott! Bewahre Treue und Recht und hoffe stets auf deinen Gott!"	7 So turn back with God's help, maintain faithful love and loyalty and always put your trust in your God.
8 In der Hand des Händlers ist falsche Waage; er liebt das Unrecht.	8 Merchants use fraudulent scales. To defraud is his delight.
9 Aber Ephraim spricht: "Ich bin doch reich geworden, habe mir Vermögen erworben! Alle meine Gewinne stellen für mich kein Vergehen dar, das Sünde wäre."	9 'How rich I have become!' says Ephraim, 'I have made a fortune.' But of al his gains he wil keepnothing because of the sin of which he is guilty.
10 "Aber ich bin der Herr, dein Gott vom Lande Ägypten an. Ich lasse dich wieder in Zelten wohnen wie zur Zeit, da wir zusammentrafen.	10 But I have been Yahweh your God since your days in Egypt and will make you live in tents again asin the days of Meeting.
11 Ich habe zu den Propheten geredet, ich ließ häufig Gesichte schauen, und durch die Propheten wirke ich Vernichtung.	11 I will speak through prophets, I will give vision after vision and through the ministry of prophets wilspeak in parables.
12 In Gilead herrschte Frevel. Wahrlich, sie sind zunichte geworden! In Gilgal opfert man Stiere. So sollen auch ihre Altäre wie Steinhaufen werden an den Furchen des Feldes."	12 Is Gilead a sink of iniquity? Yes, they are a worthless lot! At Gilgal they sacrifice to bulls, that is whytheir altars are like heaps of stones in a ploughed field.
13 Jakob floh ins Gebiet von Aram; um eine Frau wurde Israel Knecht, um eine Frau wurde er Hirt.	13 Jacob fled to the countryside of Aram, Israel slaved to win a wife, to win a wife he looked after sheep.
14 Aber durch einen Propheten führte der Herr Israel aus Ägypten herauf, und durch einen Propheten ward er behütet.	14 By a prophet Yahweh brought Israel out of Egypt and by a prophet Israel was preserved.
15 Bitteren Verdruß hat Ephraim erregt. Nun läßt sein Herr auf ihn seine Blutschuld fallen und vergilt ihm seinen Hohn.	15 Ephraim gave bitter provocation- Yahweh will bring his bloodshed down on him, his Lord wil repayhim for his insult.
