1 Since you have been raised up to be with Christ, you must look for the things that are above, whereChrist is, sitting at God's right hand.	1 Portanto, se ressuscitastes com Cristo, buscai as coisas que são lá de cima, onde Cristo está sentado à dextra de Deus;
2 Let your thoughts be on things above, not on the things that are on the earth,	2 afeiçoai-vos às coisas que são lá de cima, não às que estão sobre a terra.
3 because you have died, and now the life you have is hidden with Christ in God.	3 Com efeito, (pelo batismo) estais mortos (para as coisas terrenas) e a nossa vida está escondida com Cristo em Deus.
4 But when Christ is revealed -- and he is your life-you, too, wil be revealed with him in glory.	4 Quando aparecer Cristo, que é a vossa vida, então também vós aparecereis com ele na glória.
5 That is why you must kill everything in you that is earthly: sexual vice, impurity, uncontrol ed passion,evil desires and especially greed, which is the same thing as worshipping a false god;	5 Mortificai, pois, os vossos membros terrenos: a fornicação, a impureza, as paixões, os desejos maus e a avareza, que é uma idolatria,
6 it is precisely these things which draw God's retribution upon those who resist.	6 pelas quais coisas vem a ira de Deus sobre os filhos da incredulidade;
7 And these things made up your way of life when you were living among such people,	7 entre as quais coisas vós também andastes outrora, quando vivíeis nelas.
8 but now you also must give up al these things: human anger, hot temper, malice, abusive language anddirty talk;	8 Mas agora deixai, também vós, tudo isto: a ira, a indignação, a malícia, a maledicência, a palavra torpe da vossa boca.
9 and do not lie to each other. You have stripped off your old behaviour with your old self,	9 Não mintais uns aos outros, visto que vos despojastes do homem velho com as suas obras
10 and you have put on a new self which will progress towards true knowledge the more it is renewed inthe image of its Creator;	10 e vos revestistes do homem novo, daquele que se renova (continuamente, avançando sempre na perfeição) para o conhecimento mais perfeito (de Deus) segundo a imagem daquele que o criou,
11 and in that image there is no room for distinction between Greek and Jew, between the circumcisedand uncircumcised, or between barbarian and Scythian, slave and free. There is only Christ: he is everythingand he is in everything.	11 onde não há (diferença de) Grego e Judeu, circuncidado e incircuncidado, bárbaro e Scita, servo e livre, não há senão Cristo que é tudo em todos.
12 As the chosen of God, then, the holy people whom he loves, you are to be clothed in heartfeltcompassion, in generosity and humility, gentleness and patience.	12 Vós, pois, como escolhidos de Deus, santos e amados, revesti-vos de sentimentos de misericórdia, de benignidade, de humildade, de mansidão, de paciência,
13 Bear with one another; forgive each other if one of you has a complaint against another. The Lord hasforgiven you; now you must do the same.	13 sofrendo-vos uns aos outros e perdoando-vos mutuamente, se algum tem razão de queixa contra o outro. Assim como o Senhor vos perdoou a vós, também vós perdoai (uns aos outros).
14 Over al these clothes, put on love, the perfect bond.	14 Sobretudo, porém tende caridade, que é o vínculo da perfeição.
15 And may the peace of Christ reign in your hearts, because it is for this that you were cal ed together inone body. Always be thankful.	15 Triunfe em vossos corações a paz de Cristo, à qual fostes chamados, para (formar) um só corpo. Sede agradecidos.
16 Let the Word of Christ, in al its richness, find a home with you. Teach each other, and advise eachother, in al wisdom. With gratitude in your hearts sing psalms and hymns and inspired songs to God;	16 A palavra de Cristo habite em vós com toda a sua riqueza. Ensinai-vos e admoestai-vos uns aos outros, com toda a sabedoria, cantai a Deus, em vossos corações, salmos, hinos e cânticos espirituais, sob a ação da graça.
17 and whatever you say or do, let it be in the name of the Lord Jesus, in thanksgiving to God the Fatherthrough him.	17 Tudo o que fizerdes, em palavras ou por obras, fazei tudo em nome do Senhor Jesus, dando por ele graças a Deus Pai.
18 Wives, be subject to your husbands, as you should in the Lord.	18 Mulheres, estai sujeitas a vossos maridos, como convém, no Senhor.
19 Husbands, love your wives and do not be sharp with them.	19 Maridos, amai vossas mulheres e não sejais ásperos para com elas.
20 Children, be obedient to your parents always, because that is what will please the Lord.	20 Filhos, obedecei em tudo a vossos pais, porque isto é agradável ao Senhor.
21 Parents, do not irritate your children or they will lose heart.	21 Pais, não provoqueis à indignação os vossos filhos, para que se não tornem pusilânimes.
22 Slaves, be obedient in every way to the people who, according to human reckoning, are your masters;not only when you are under their eye, as if you had only to please human beings, but wholeheartedly, out ofrespect for the Master.	22 Servos, obedecei em tudo a vossos senhores temporais, não servindo só quando sob as (suas) vistas, como para agradar aos homens, mas com simplicidade de coração, temendo a Deus.
23 Whatever your work is, put your heart into it as done for the Lord and not for human beings,	23 Tudo o que fizerdes, fazei-o de boa vontade, como (quem o faz) pelo Senhor e não pelos homens,
24 knowing that the Lord wil repay you by making you his heirs. It is Christ the Lord that you are serving.	24 sabendo que recebereis do Senhor a herança (do céu) como recompensa. Servi a Cristo Senhor,
25 Anyone who does wrong wil be repaid in kind. For there is no favouritism.	25 porque aquele que cometer injustiça, receberá segundo o que fez injustamente: não há acepção de pessoas (diante de Deus).
