Deuteronomy 14

1 'You are children of Yahweh your God. You must not gash yourselves or shave your foreheads for thedead.	1 Portatevi come figliuoli del Signore Dio vostro: non vi fate incisioni, e non vi tosate i capelli per ragion d'un morto.
2 For you are a people consecrated to Yahweh your God, and Yahweh has chosen you to be his ownpeople from al the peoples on the earth.	2 Perocché tu sei un popolo consacrato al Signore Dio tuo, ed egli ti elesse, perché tu sii specialmente suo popolo tra tutte le genti, che sono sopra la terra.
3 'You must not eat anything disgusting.	3 Non mangiate delle cose, che sono immonde.
4 These are the animals you may eat: ox, sheep, goat,	4 Questi sono gli animali, de' quali dovete mangiare: il bue, e la pecora, e la capra,
5 deer, gazel e, roebuck, ibex, antelope, oryx, mountain sheep.	5 Il cervo, il capriolo, il bufalo, il capro salvatico, il pigargo, l’orige, il camelopardo.
6 You may eat any animal that has a divided and cloven hoof and that is a ruminant.	6 Mangerete di qualunque animale, che rumina, e ha lo zoccolo diviso in due parti.
7 Of those, however, that are ruminants and of those that have a divided and cloven hoof you may noteat the fol owing: the camel, the hare and the coney, which are ruminants but have no cloven hoof; you mustclass them as unclean.	7 Ma di quelli che ruminano, e non han lo zoccolo diviso, voi non ne mangerete, come del cammello, della lepre, e del porco spino: questi saranno immondi per voi, perché ruminano, e non hanno lo zoccolo diviso.
8 So also the pig, which though it has a cloven hoof is not a ruminant; you must class it as unclean. Youmust neither eat the meat of such animals nor touch their dead bodies.	8 Il porco parimente, perché ha lo zoccolo diviso, ma non rumina, sarà immondo: non mangerete delle sue carni, e morto nol toccherete.
9 'Of whatever lives in water you may eat the fol owing: you may eat anything that has fins and scales.	9 Di tutti gli animali, che abitano nelle acque, voi mangerete quelli che hanno le piccole ale, e le squamme:
10 But you must not eat anything without fins and scales: you must class it as unclean.	10 Quelli che sono senza le piccole ale, e senza squamme, non li mangiate, perché sono immondi.
11 'You may eat al clean birds,	11 Mangiate di tutti gli uccelli mondi.
12 but the fol owing birds you must not eat: the tawny vulture, the griffon, the osprey,	12 Astenetevi dagl’immondi, come è l’aquila, il grifone, l’aquila marina,
13 the kite and the several kinds of buzzard,	13 L'issione, e l’avoltoio e il milvo, e tutte le sue specie:
14 al kinds of raven,	14 E tutti quelli che sono del genere de' corvi,
15 the ostrich, the screech owl, the seagul , the several kinds of hawk,	15 E lo struzzolo, e la civetta, e il laro, e lo sparviere, e tutto quello che è della stessa specie:
16 owl, barn owl, ibis,	16 L'airone, il cigno, e l’ibi,
17 pelican, white vulture, cormorant,	17 E il mergo, e il porfirione, e il cuculio,
18 stork, the several kinds of heron, hoopoe and bat.	18 L'onocrotalo, e il caradrio, ognuno colle loro specie: l'upupa, e il pipistrello,
19 You are to class al winged insects as unclean and must not eat them.	19 E tutti quelli che hanno l'ale e si strascinan per terra, saranno immondi, e non si mangeranno.
20 You may eat any clean fowl.	20 Mangiate di tutto quello che è mondo.
21 'You must not eat any animal that has died a natural death. You may give it to a resident foreigner toeat, or sel it to a foreigner. For you are a people consecrated to Yahweh your God. 'You must not boil a kid in itsmother's milk.	21 Non mangiate di nissuna bestia morta da sé. Dalle o vendile al forestiero, che abita nelle stesse mura, perché ei le mangi: perocché tu sei un popolo consacrato al Signore Dio tuo. Tu non cuocerai il capretto nel latte di sua madre.
22 'Every year, you must take a tithe of what your fields produce from what you have sown	22 Ogni anno separerai la decima parte di tutti i frutti che nascono dalla terra.
23 and, in the presence of Yahweh your God, in the place where he chooses to give his name a home,you must eat the tithe of your wheat, of your new wine and of your oil, and the first-born of your herd and flock;and by so doing, you wil learn always to fear Yahweh your God.	23 E mangerai al cospetto del Signore Dio tuo nel luogo eletto da lui, affinché ivi sia invocato il suo nome, la decima del tuo frumento, e del vino, e dell’olio, e i primogeniti de' tuoi armenti; e de’ tuoi greggi: affinché tu impari a temere il Signore Dio tuo in ogni tempo.
24 'If the road is too long for you, if you cannot bring your tithe because the place in which Yahwehchooses to make a home for his name is too far away, when Yahweh your God has blessed you,	24 Ma se il viaggio sarà troppo lungo per andare al luogo eletto dal Signore Dio tuo, ed egli ti avrà data benedizione copiosa, e non potrai portare ogni cosa;
25 you must convert it into money and, with the money clasped in your hand, you must go to the placechosen by Yahweh your God;	25 Venderai tutto, e lo convertirai in denaro, e lo porterai colle tue mani, andando al luogo eletto dal Signore Dio tuo:
26 there you may spend the money on whatever you like, oxen, sheep, wine, fermented liquor, anythingyou please. There you must eat in the presence of Yahweh your God and rejoice, you and your household.	26 E collo stesso denaro comprerai quel che ti piacerà o bovi, o pecore, e vino, e sicera, e tutto quel che più appetisci: e mangerai al cospetto del Signore Dio tuo, e farai banchetto tu, e la tua famiglia,
27 Do not neglect the Levite living in your community, since he has no share or heritage of his ownamong you.	27 E il Levita che abita dentro le tue porte: guarda di non dimenticarlo, perocché egli non ha altra porzione dei tuoi beni.
28 'At the end of every three years, you must take al the tithes of your harvests for that year and col ectthem in your community.	28 Il terzo anno separerai un'altra decima di tutta la tua entrata di quel tempo: e la riporrai nella tua casa.
29 Then the Levite -- since he has no share or heritage of his own among you -- the foreigner, theorphan and the widow living in your community, wil come and eat all they want. And so Yahweh your God wilbless you in al the labours that you undertake.'	29 E verrà il Levita, che non ha altra porzione, né altro fondo tra voi, e il forestiero, e il pupillo, e la vedova, che abitano dentro le stesse mura con te, e mangeranno, e si sazieranno: affinché il Signore Dio tuo ti benedica in tutte le opere che farai colle tue mani.
