Deuteronomy 14

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLES DES PEUPLES
1 'You are children of Yahweh your God. You must not gash yourselves or shave your foreheads for thedead.	1 Vous êtes des fils pour Yahvé votre Dieu. Vous ne vous ferez pas d’incisions ni de tonsures sur le front pour un mort.
2 For you are a people consecrated to Yahweh your God, and Yahweh has chosen you to be his ownpeople from al the peoples on the earth.	2 Tu es un peuple saint pour Yahvé ton Dieu, il t’a choisi pour que tu sois son peuple au milieu de tous les peuples de la terre.
3 'You must not eat anything disgusting.	3 Tu ne mangeras rien d’abominable.
4 These are the animals you may eat: ox, sheep, goat,	4 Voici les animaux que vous pourrez manger: le bœuf, le mouton, la chèvre,
5 deer, gazel e, roebuck, ibex, antelope, oryx, mountain sheep.	5 le cerf, la gazelle, le daim, la chèvre de Nubie, l’antilope, le bœuf sauvage et la chèvre sauvage.
6 You may eat any animal that has a divided and cloven hoof and that is a ruminant.	6 Vous mangerez de tout animal qui a le sabot divisé, le pied fourchu, et qui rumine;
7 Of those, however, that are ruminants and of those that have a divided and cloven hoof you may noteat the fol owing: the camel, the hare and the coney, which are ruminants but have no cloven hoof; you mustclass them as unclean.	7 mais vous ne mangerez pas ceux qui ruminent seulement ou qui ont seulement le sabot divisé, le pied fourchu. Ainsi vous ne mangerez pas le chameau, le lièvre et le lapin qui ruminent mais qui n’ont pas le sabot divisé. Ils seront impurs à vos yeux.
8 So also the pig, which though it has a cloven hoof is not a ruminant; you must class it as unclean. Youmust neither eat the meat of such animals nor touch their dead bodies.	8 C’est encore le cas pour le porc qui a le sabot divisé mais qui ne rumine pas: il sera impur à vos yeux. Vous ne mangerez pas de leur chair et vous ne toucherez pas leur cadavre.
9 'Of whatever lives in water you may eat the fol owing: you may eat anything that has fins and scales.	9 Parmi tous les êtres qui vivent dans l’eau, vous pourrez manger ceux qui ont nageoires et écailles.
10 But you must not eat anything without fins and scales: you must class it as unclean.	10 Mais vous ne mangerez pas de ceux qui n’ont ni nageoires ni écailles: ils seront impurs à vos yeux.
11 'You may eat al clean birds,	11 Vous pourrez manger tous les oiseaux purs.
12 but the fol owing birds you must not eat: the tawny vulture, the griffon, the osprey,	12 Voici ceux que vous ne mangerez pas: l’aigle, la buse et le vautour,
13 the kite and the several kinds of buzzard,	13 le faucon, le milan et toute espèce de rapaces,
14 al kinds of raven,	14 toute espèce de corbeaux,
15 the ostrich, the screech owl, the seagul , the several kinds of hawk,	15 l’autruche, le hibou, la mouette et toute espèce d’éperviers,
16 owl, barn owl, ibis,	16 le chat-huant, l’ibis et la chouette,
17 pelican, white vulture, cormorant,	17 le pélican, le cygne et le cormoran,
18 stork, the several kinds of heron, hoopoe and bat.	18 la cigogne, le héron de toute espèce, la huppe et la chauve-souris.
19 You are to class al winged insects as unclean and must not eat them.	19 Tous les insectes ailés seront impurs à vos yeux,
20 You may eat any clean fowl.	20 mais de tout oiseau pur vous pourrez manger.
21 'You must not eat any animal that has died a natural death. You may give it to a resident foreigner toeat, or sel it to a foreigner. For you are a people consecrated to Yahweh your God. 'You must not boil a kid in itsmother's milk.	21 Tu ne mangeras d’aucune bête morte, mais tu pourras la donner à l’étranger qui habite au milieu de toi: il la mangera ou la vendra à un autre étranger. Mais toi, tu es un peuple saint pour Yahvé ton Dieu. Tu ne feras pas cuire un chevreau dans le lait de sa mère.
22 'Every year, you must take a tithe of what your fields produce from what you have sown	22 Tu prélèveras chaque année la dîme sur le produit de ce que tu auras semé, sur le produit de tes champs.
23 and, in the presence of Yahweh your God, in the place where he chooses to give his name a home,you must eat the tithe of your wheat, of your new wine and of your oil, and the first-born of your herd and flock;and by so doing, you wil learn always to fear Yahweh your God.	23 Tu mangeras devant Yahvé ton Dieu, dans le lieu qu’il aura choisi pour y faire habiter son Nom, la dîme de ton blé, de ton vin et de ton huile, ainsi que les premiers-nés de la vache et de la brebis. Ainsi tu apprendras à garder toujours la crainte de Yahvé, ton Dieu.
24 'If the road is too long for you, if you cannot bring your tithe because the place in which Yahwehchooses to make a home for his name is too far away, when Yahweh your God has blessed you,	24 Cependant, lorsque Yahvé ton Dieu t’aura béni, si le lieu qu’il a choisi pour y faire habiter son Nom est trop éloigné et que le chemin est trop long pour toi,
25 you must convert it into money and, with the money clasped in your hand, you must go to the placechosen by Yahweh your God;	25 tu échangeras ta dîme contre de l’argent, tu prendras l’argent sur toi et tu te rendras au lieu que Yahvé ton Dieu aura choisi.
26 there you may spend the money on whatever you like, oxen, sheep, wine, fermented liquor, anythingyou please. There you must eat in the presence of Yahweh your God and rejoice, you and your household.	26 Là, avec ton argent, tu achèteras tout ce que tu voudras: des bœufs, des brebis, du vin, des liqueurs fermentées, en un mot, tout ce que tu voudras, et tu le mangeras là devant Yahvé ton Dieu. Tu feras la fête, toi et ta famille,
27 Do not neglect the Levite living in your community, since he has no share or heritage of his ownamong you.	27 sans oublier le Lévite qui habite au milieu de toi, car il n’a ni part ni héritage avec toi.
28 'At the end of every three years, you must take al the tithes of your harvests for that year and col ectthem in your community.	28 Tous les trois ans, tu mettras de côté, toute la dîme de tes récoltes de l’année et tu la garderas dans ta cité.
29 Then the Levite -- since he has no share or heritage of his own among you -- the foreigner, theorphan and the widow living in your community, wil come and eat all they want. And so Yahweh your God wilbless you in al the labours that you undertake.'	29 Alors le Lévite qui n’a ni part ni héritage avec toi, l’étranger, l’orphelin et la veuve qui habitent au milieu de toi viendront, ils mangeront et seront comblés. Ainsi Yahvé ton Dieu te bénira dans tout ce que tu entreprendras.
