1 as fire sets brushwood alight, as fire makes water boil -- to make your name known to your foes; thenations would tremble at your presence,	1 Se tu squarciassi i cieli, e scendessi! al tuo cospetto si liquefarebbero i monti.
2 at the unexpected miracles you would do. (Oh, that you would come down, in your presence themountains would quake!)	2 Si consumerebbero come in una fornace di fuoco, le acque prenderebbero l'ardore del fuoco, affinchè si rendesse manifesto il tuo nome a' tuoi nemici; e dinanzi a te si turbassero le nazioni.
3 Never has anyone heard, no ear has heard, no eye has seen any god but you act like this for the sakeof those who trust him.	3 Allorché avrai fatto queste cose amirabili, noi non le sosterremo: tu se' disceso, e dinanzi a te i monti si non disciolti.
4 You come to meet those who are happy to act uprightly; keeping your ways reminds them of you. Yes,you have been angry and we have been sinners; now we persist in your ways and we shal be saved.	4 Pe' secoli indietro nissuno seppe, né orecchia udì, né occhio vide, o Dio, eccetto te, quel, che tu hai preparato per coloro, che ti aspettano.
5 We have al been like unclean things and our upright deeds like filthy rags. We wither, al of us, likeleaves, and al our misdeeds carry us off like the wind.	5 Tu vai incontro a quelli, che si rallegrano in te, e praticano la giustizia: nelle tue vie si ricorderanno di te secco, che tu se' irato, e noi abbiam peccato: in peccato fummo noi sempre, e saremo salvati.
6 There is no one to invoke your name, to rouse himself to hold fast to you, for you have hidden your facefrom us and given us up to the power of our misdeeds.	6 Siam diventati tutti noi come un immondo, e quasi sucido panno sono tutte le nostre giustificazioni: siamo caduti tutti come foglie, e le nostre iniquità sono state come il vento, che ci ha dispersi.
7 And yet, Yahweh, you are our Father; we the clay and you our potter, al of us are the work of yourhands.	7 Non è chi invochi il tuo nome, chi si alzi, e ti rattenga: tu hai nascosa a noi la tua faccia, e ci hai schiacciati sotto la nostra iniquità.
8 Yahweh, do not let your anger go too far and do not remember guilt for ever. Look, please, we are alyour people;	8 E adesso, o Signore, tu se' il Padre nostro, e noi fango; e facitore nostro se' tu, e tutti noi opere delle tue mani.
9 your holy cities have become a desert, Zion has become a desert, Jerusalem a wasteland.	9 Non adirarti troppo, o Signore, e non voler più ricordarti della nostra iniquità; ecco, rimiraci, tuo popolo (siam) tutti noi.
10 Our holy and glorious Temple, in which our ancestors used to praise you, has been burnt to theground; al our delight lies in ruins.	10 La città del tuo santuario è diven tata deserta, Sionne è diventata deserta, Gerusalemme è desolata.
11 Yahweh, can you restrain yourself at al this? Wil you stay silent and afflict us beyond endurance?	11 La casa della nostra santificazione,e della nostra gloria, dove le tue lodi cantarono i padri nostri, è stata consumata dal fuoco, e tutte le nostre grandezze son cangiate in rovine.
	12 A tali cose ti ratterai tu forse, o Signore, e starai in silenzio, e ci affliggerai for misura?
