On the eighth day Moses summoned Aaron and his sons, together with the elders of Israel,1 Then, the eighth day having arrived, Moses called Aaron and his sons, and those greater by birth from Israel, and he said to Aaron:
and said to Aaron, "Take a calf for a sin offering and a ram for a holocaust, both without blemish, and offer them before the LORD.2 “Take a calf for sin from the herd, and a ram as a holocaust, both immaculate, and offer them in the sight of the Lord.
Tell the elders of Israel, too: Take a he-goat for a sin offering, a calf and a lamb, both unblemished yearlings, for a holocaust,3 And to the sons of Israel, you shall say: ‘Take a he-goat for sin, and a calf as well as a lamb, both one-year-old and without blemish, as a holocaust.
and an ox and a ram for a peace offering, to sacrifice them before the LORD, along with a cereal offering mixed with oil; for today the LORD will reveal himself to you."4 Take also an ox and a ram for peace offerings. And immolate them before the Lord, offering with the sacrifice of each one fine wheat flour sprinkled with oil. For today the Lord will appear to you.’ ”
So they brought what Moses had ordered. When the whole community had come forward and stood before the LORD,5 And so they brought everything that Moses had ordered before the door of the tabernacle, where, when all the multitude stood together,
Moses said, "This is what the LORD orders you to do, that the glory of the LORD may be revealed to you.6 Moses said: “This is the word, which the Lord has instructed. Accomplish it, and his glory will appear to you.”
Come up to the altar," Moses then told Aaron, "and offer your sin offering and your holocaust in atonement for yourself and for your family; then present the offering of the people in atonement for them, as the LORD has commanded."7 And he said to Aaron: “Approach toward the altar, and immolate on behalf of your sin. Offer the holocaust, and pray for yourself and for the people. And when you have slain the victim for the people, pray for them, just as the Lord has instructed.”
Going up to the altar, Aaron first slaughtered the calf that was his own sin offering.8 And immediately Aaron, approaching toward the altar, immolated the calf for his sin.
When his sons presented the blood to him, he dipped his finger in the blood and put it on the horns of the altar. The rest of the blood he poured out at the base of the altar.9 And his sons brought its blood to him, and dipping his finger in it, he touched the horns of the altar, and he poured out the remainder at its base.
He then burned on the altar the fat, the kidneys and the lobe of the liver that were taken from the sin offering, as the LORD had commanded Moses;10 And the fat, and the little kidneys, and the mesh of the liver, which are for sin, he burned upon the altar, just as the Lord had instructed Moses.
but the flesh and the hide he burned up in the fire outside the camp.11 Yet truly, the flesh and its skins he burned with fire beyond the camp.
Then Aaron slaughtered his holocaust. When his sons brought him the blood, he splashed it on all sides of the altar.12 He also immolated the victim of holocaust. And his sons brought its blood to him, which he poured out all around the altar.
They then brought him the pieces and the head of the holocaust, and he burned them on the altar.13 And when the victim itself was cut into pieces, they brought him the head and each of the limbs, all of which he burned with fire upon the altar,
Having washed the inner organs and the shanks, he burned these also with the holocaust on the altar.14 having first washed the intestines and the feet with water.
Thereupon he had the people's offering brought up. Taking the goat that was for the people's sin offering, he slaughtered it and offered it up for sin as before.15 And making an offering for the sin of the people, he slew the he-goat. And expiating the altar,
Then he brought forward the holocaust, other than the morning holocaust, and offered it in the usual manner.16 he accomplished the holocaust,
He then presented the cereal offering; taking a handful of it, he burned it on the altar.17 adding to it the sacrifice of the libations, which are to be offered together, and burning them upon the altar, separately from the ceremonies of the morning holocaust.
Finally he slaughtered the ox and the ram, the peace offering of the people. When his sons brought him the blood, Aaron splashed it on all sides of the altar.18 He also immolated the ox, as well as the ram, as peace offerings for the people. And his sons brought him the blood, which he poured out upon the altar all around.
The portions of fat from the ox and from the ram, the fatty tail, the fatty membrane over the inner organs, the two kidneys, with the fat that is on them, and the lobe of the liver,19 Then the fat of the ox, and the rump of the ram, and the two little kidneys with their fat, and the mesh of the liver,
he placed on top of the breasts and burned them on the altar,20 they placed upon the breasts. And when the fat had been burned upon the altar,
having first waved the breasts and the right legs as a wave offering before the LORD, in keeping with the LORD'S command to Moses.21 Aaron separated their breasts and the right shoulders, lifting them up in the sight of the Lord, as Moses had instructed.
Aaron then raised his hands over the people and blessed them. When he came down from offering the sin offering and holocaust and peace offering,22 And extending his hands to the people, he blessed them. And so, the victims for sin, and the holocausts, and the peace offerings being completed, he descended.
Moses and Aaron went into the meeting tent. On coming out they again blessed the people. Then the glory of the LORD was revealed to all the people.23 Then Moses and Aaron entered the tabernacle of the testimony, and afterwards came out and blessed the people. And the glory of the Lord appeared to the entire multitude.
Fire came forth from the LORD'S presence and consumed the holocaust and the remnants of the fat on the altar. Seeing this, all the people cried out and fell prostrate.24 And, behold, a fire from the Lord devoured the holocaust, and the fat which was on the altar. When the crowd had seen this, they praised the Lord, falling on their faces.
