Isaiah 57

1 The just man perishes, but no one takes it to heart; Devout men are swept away, with no one giving it a thought. Though he is taken away from the presence of evil, the just man	1 El justo perece, y no hay quien haga caso; los hombres buenos son arrebatados, y no hay quien lo considere. Cuando ante la desgracia es arrebatado el justo,
2 enters into peace; There is rest on his couch for the sincere, straightforward man.	2 se va en paz. ¡Descansen en sus lechos todos los que anduvieron en camino recto!
3 But you, draw near, you sons of a sorceress, adulterous, wanton race!	3 Pero vosotros venid acá, hijos de hechicera, raza adúltera que te prostituyes:
4 Of whom do you make sport, at whom do you open wide your mouth, and put out your tongue? Are you not rebellious children, a worthless race;	4 ¿De quién os mofáis? ¿Contra quién abrís la boca y sacáis la lengua? ¿No sois vosotros engendros de pecado, prole bastarda?
5 You who are in heat among the terebinths, under every green tree; You who immolate children in the wadies, behind the crevices in the cliffs?	5 Los que entráis en calor entre terebintos, bajo cualquier árbol frondoso, degolladores de niños en las torrenteras, debajo de los resquicios de las peñas.
6 Among the smooth stones of the wadi is your portion, these are your lot; To these you poured out libations, and brought offerings. Should I decide not to punish these things?	6 En las piedras lisas del torrente tengas tu parte: ¡ellas, ellas te toquen en suerte! Que también sobre ellas vertiste libaciones, hiciste oblación. ¿Acaso con estas cosas me voy a aplacar?
7 Upon a high and lofty mountain you made your bed, and there you went up to offer sacrifice.	7 Sobre montaña alta y empinada pusiste tu lecho. Hasta allí subiste a hacer el sacrificio.
8 Behind the door and the doorpost you placed your indecent symbol. Deserting me, you spread out your high, wide bed; And of those whose embraces you love you carved the symbol and gazed upon it	8 Detrás de la puerta y de la jamba pusiste tu memorial. Sí, te desnudaste, subiste, y no conmigo, a tu lecho, y lo extendiste. Llegaste a un acuerdo con aquellos con quienes te plugo acostarte, mirando el monumento.
9 While you approached the king with scented oil, and multiplied your perfumes; While you sent your ambassadors far away, down even to the nether world.	9 Te has acercado con aceite para Mélek, multiplicaste tus aromas. Enviaste a tus emisarios muy lejos, y los hiciste bajar hasta el seol.
10 Though worn out by your many misdeeds, you never said, "It is hopeless"; New strength you found, and so you did not weaken.	10 De tanto caminar te cansaste, pero sin decir: «Me rindo». Hallaste el vigor de tu mano, y así no quedaste debilitada.
11 Of whom were you afraid? Whom did you fear, that you became false And did not remember me or give me any thought? Was I to remain silent and unseeing, so that you would not have me to fear?	11 Pues bien, ¿de quién te asustaste y tuviste miedo, que fuiste embustera, y de mí no te acordaste, no hiciste caso de ello? ¿No es que porque me callé desde siempre, a mí no me temiste?
12 I will expose your justice and your works;	12 Yo voy a denunciar tu virtud y tus hechos, y no te aprovecharán.
13 They shall not help you when you cry out, nor save you in your distress. All these the wind shall carry off, the breeze shall bear away; But he who takes refuge in me shall inherit the land, and possess my holy mountain.	13 Cuando grites, que te salven los reunidos en torno a ti, que a todos ellos los llevará el viento, los arrebatará el aire. Pero aquel que se ampare en mí poseerá la tierra y heredará mi monte santo.
14 Build up, build up, prepare the way, remove the stumbling blocks from my people's path.	14 Entonces se dirá: Reparad, reparad, abrid camino, quitad los obstáculos del camino de mi pueblo.
15 For thus says he who is high and exalted, living eternally, whose name is the Holy One: On high I dwell, and in holiness, and with the crushed and dejected in spirit, To revive the spirits of the dejected, to revive the hearts of the crushed.	15 Que así dice el Excelso y Sublime, el que mora por siempre y cuyo nombre es Santo. «En lo excelso y sagrado yo moro, y estoy también con el humillado y abatido de espíritu, para avivar el espíritu de los abatidos, para avivar el ánimo de los humillados.
16 I will not accuse forever, nor always be angry; For their spirits would faint before me, the souls that I have made.	16 Pues no disputaré por siempre ni estaré eternamente enojado, pues entonces el espíritu ante mí desmayaría y las almas que yo he creado.
17 Because of their wicked avarice I was angry, and struck them, hiding myself in wrath, as they went their own rebellious way.	17 Por culpa de su codicia me enojé y le herí, ocultándome en mi enojo. Pero el rebelde seguía su capricho.
18 I saw their ways, but I will heal them and lead them; I will give full comfort to them and to those who mourn for them,	18 Sus caminos vi. Yo le curaré y le guiaré, y le daré ánimos a él y a los que con él lloraban,
19 I, the Creator, who gave them life. Peace, peace to the far and the near, says the LORD; and I will heal them.	19 poniendo alabanza en los labios: ¡Paz, paz al de lejos y al de cerca! - dice Yahveh -. Yo le curaré».
20 But the wicked are like the tossing sea which cannot be calmed, And its waters cast up mud and filth.	20 Los malos son como mar agitada cuando no puede calmarse, cuyas aguas lanzan cieno y lodo.
21 No peace for the wicked! says my God.	21 «No hay paz para los malvados» - dice mi Dios -.
