1 The man who remains stiff-necked and hates rebuke will be crushed suddenly beyond cure.	1 O homem que, apesar das admoestações, se obstina será logo irremediavelmente arruinado.
2 When the just prevail, the people rejoice; but when the wicked rule, the people groan.	2 Quando dominam os justos, alegra-se o povo; quando governa o ímpio, o povo geme.
3 He who loves wisdom makes his father glad, but he who consorts with harlots squanders his wealth.	3 Quem ama a sabedoria alegra seu pai; o que freqüenta as prostitutas dissipa sua fortuna.
4 By justice a king gives stability to the land; but he who imposes heavy taxes ruins it.	4 É pela justiça que um rei firma seu país, mas aquele que o sobrecarrega com muitos impostos, o arruína.
5 The man who flatters his neighbor is spreading a net under his feet.	5 O homem que adula seu próximo estende redes aos seus pés.
6 The wicked man steps into a snare, but the just man runs on joyfully.	6 No delito do ímpio há um ardil, mas o justo corre alegremente.
7 The just man has a care for the rights of the poor; the wicked man has no such concern.	7 O justo conhece a causa dos pobres; o ímpio a ignora.
8 Arrogant men set the city ablaze, but wise men calm the fury.	8 Os escarnecedores ateiam fogo na cidade, mas os sábios acalmam o furor.
9 If a wise man disputes with a fool, he may rage or laugh but can have no peace.	9 Discute um sábio com um tolo? Que ele se zangue ou que ele se ria, não terá paz.
10 Bloodthirsty men hate the honest man, but the upright show concern for his life.	10 Os homens sanguinários odeiam o íntegro, mas os homens retos tomam cuidado com sua vida.
11 The fool gives vent to all his anger; but by biding his time, the wise man calms it.	11 O insensato desafoga toda sua ira, mas o sábio a domina e a recalca.
12 If a ruler listens to lying words, his servants all become wicked.	12 Quando um soberano presta atenção às mentiras, todos os seus servidores tornam-se maus.
13 The poor and the oppressor have a common bond: the LORD gives light to the eyes of both.	13 O pobre e o opressor se encontram: é o Senhor que ilumina os olhos de cada um.
14 If a king is zealous for the rights of the poor, his throne stands firm forever.	14 Um rei que julga com eqüidade os humildes terá seu trono firmado para sempre.
15 The rod of correction gives wisdom, but a boy left to his whims disgraces his mother.	15 Vara e correção dão a sabedoria; menino abandonado à sua vontade se torna a vergonha da mãe.
16 When the wicked prevail, crime increases; but their downfall the just will behold.	16 Quando se multiplicam os ímpios, multiplica-se o crime, mas os justos contemplarão sua queda.
17 Correct your son, and he will bring you comfort, and give delight to your soul.	17 Corrige teu filho e ele te dará repouso e será as delícias de tua vida.
18 Without prophecy the people become demoralized; but happy is he who keeps the law.	18 Por falta de visão, o povo vive sem freios; ditoso o que observa a instrução!
19 By words no servant can be trained; for he understands what is said, but obeys not.	19 Não é com palavras que se corrige um escravo, porque ele compreende, mas não se atém a elas.
20 Do you see a man hasty in his words? More can be hoped for from a fool!	20 Viste um homem precipitado no falar: há mais esperança num tolo do que nele.
21 If a man pampers his servant from childhood, he will turn out to be stubborn.	21 Um escravo mimado desde sua juventude, acaba por se tornar desobediente.
22 An ill-tempered man stirs up disputes, and a hotheaded man is the cause of many sins.	22 Um homem irascível excita contendas; o colérico acumula as faltas.
23 Man's pride causes his humiliation, but he who is humble of spirit obtains honor.	23 O orgulho de um homem leva-o à humilhação, mas o humilde de espírito obtém a glória.
24 The accomplice of a thief is his own enemy: he hears himself put under a curse, yet discloses nothing.	24 Quem partilha com o ladrão, odeia-se a si mesmo; ouve a maldição e nada denuncia.
25 The fear of man brings a snare, but he who trusts in the LORD is safe.	25 O temor dos homens prepara um laço, mas quem confia no Senhor permanece seguro.
26 Many curry favor with the ruler, but the rights of each are from the LORD.	26 Muitos buscam o favor dum príncipe, mas é do Senhor que cada homem alcança justiça
27 The evildoer is an abomination to the just, and he who walks uprightly is an abomination to the wicked.	27 O homem iníquo é abominado pelos justos; o ímpio abomina aquele que anda pelo caminho certo.
