1 The man who remains stiff-necked and hates rebuke will be crushed suddenly beyond cure.	1 L'uomo che, spesso rimproverato, persiste nell'errore, improvvisamente e irrimediabilmente sarà distrutto.
2 When the just prevail, the people rejoice; but when the wicked rule, the people groan.	2 Quando governano i giusti, il popolo si allieta; quando dominano gli empi, il popolo sospira.
3 He who loves wisdom makes his father glad, but he who consorts with harlots squanders his wealth.	3 Un uomo che ama la sapienza allieta il padre; chi frequenta le prostitute dissipa la ricchezza.
4 By justice a king gives stability to the land; but he who imposes heavy taxes ruins it.	4 Con la giustizia un re consolida il paese; chi aggrava le esazioni lo conduce alla rovina.
5 The man who flatters his neighbor is spreading a net under his feet.	5 Un uomo che adula il suo prossimo tende un laccio sotto i suoi piedi.
6 The wicked man steps into a snare, but the just man runs on joyfully.	6 Nel peccato di un uomo empio c'è un laccio; il giusto invece esulta e si rallegra.
7 The just man has a care for the rights of the poor; the wicked man has no such concern.	7 Il giusto conosce il diritto dei poveri, ma l'empio non comprende la scienza.
8 Arrogant men set the city ablaze, but wise men calm the fury.	8 Gli uomini senza scrupoli turbano la città, i saggi allontanano il furore.
9 If a wise man disputes with a fool, he may rage or laugh but can have no peace.	9 Un uomo saggio ha un processo con lo stolto? Si agiti o rida, non ci sarà mai pace.
10 Bloodthirsty men hate the honest man, but the upright show concern for his life.	10 Gli omicidi odiano chi è retto; i retti invece cercano la sua vita.
11 The fool gives vent to all his anger; but by biding his time, the wise man calms it.	11 Tutto il suo bollore fa esplodere lo stolto; il saggio invece lo reprime e lo trattiene.
12 If a ruler listens to lying words, his servants all become wicked.	12 Un capo si interessa a un resoconto falso? Tutti i suoi subalterni diventano cattivi.
13 The poor and the oppressor have a common bond: the LORD gives light to the eyes of both.	13 Il povero e l'oppressore vanno insieme: dà luce agli occhi di ambedue il Signore.
14 If a king is zealous for the rights of the poor, his throne stands firm forever.	14 Un re che giudica con equità i poveri: il suo trono per sempre si consolida.
15 The rod of correction gives wisdom, but a boy left to his whims disgraces his mother.	15 Verga e correzione dànno la sapienza; l'uomo lasciato a se stesso disonora sua madre.
16 When the wicked prevail, crime increases; but their downfall the just will behold.	16 Quando dominano gli empi la colpa si moltiplica; ma i giusti assisteranno alla loro rovina.
17 Correct your son, and he will bring you comfort, and give delight to your soul.	17 Correggi tuo figlio e ti darà conforto; procurerà delizie alla tua anima.
18 Without prophecy the people become demoralized; but happy is he who keeps the law.	18 Quando non c'è visione il popolo si sfrena; ma chi osserva la legge è felice.
19 By words no servant can be trained; for he understands what is said, but obeys not.	19 Con i discorsi non si corregge un servo; egli comprende, ma non obbedisce.
20 Do you see a man hasty in his words? More can be hoped for from a fool!	20 Tu vedi un uomo svelto con le chiacchiere? C'è più speranza in uno stolto che in costui!
21 If a man pampers his servant from childhood, he will turn out to be stubborn.	21 Chi tratta mollemente il suo servo dall'infanzia, alla fine costui diventerà insolente.
22 An ill-tempered man stirs up disputes, and a hotheaded man is the cause of many sins.	22 L'uomo collerico suscita le liti e l'uomo passionale moltiplica i peccati.
23 Man's pride causes his humiliation, but he who is humble of spirit obtains honor.	23 L'orgoglio dell'uomo gli procura umiliazione e l'umile di spirito avrà l'onore.
24 The accomplice of a thief is his own enemy: he hears himself put under a curse, yet discloses nothing.	24 Fa le parti con il ladro e odia la sua anima chi sente la maledizione e non denunzia nulla.
25 The fear of man brings a snare, but he who trusts in the LORD is safe.	25 La paura dell'uomo ti crea un laccio; chi confida nel Signore è al sicuro.
26 Many curry favor with the ruler, but the rights of each are from the LORD.	26 Molti cercano i favori del capo, ma viene dal Signore la sorte di ciascuno.
27 The evildoer is an abomination to the just, and he who walks uprightly is an abomination to the wicked.	27 Obbrobrio per i giusti è l'uomo empio; obbrobrio per l'empio è chi agisce rettamente.
