1 Whoever might vainly hope to do so need only see him to be overthrown.	1 ¡Sería vana tu esperanza porque su vista sola aterra!
2 Is he not relentless when aroused; who then dares stand before him?	2 No hay audaz que lo despierte, ¿y quién podrá resistir ante él?
3 Who has assailed him and come off safe-- Who under all the heavens?	3 ¿Quién le hizo frente y quedó salvo? ¡Ninguno bajo la capa de los cielos!
4 I need hardly mention his limbs, his strength, and the fitness of his armor.	4 Mencionaré también sus miembros, hablaré de su fuerza incomparable.
5 Who can strip off his outer garment, or penetrate his double corselet?	5 ¿Quién rasgó la delantera de su túnica y penetró en su coraza doble?
6 Who can force open the doors of his mouth, close to his terrible teeth?	6 ¿Quién abrió las hojas de sus fauces? ¡Reina el terror entre sus dientes!
7 Rows of scales are on his back, tightly sealed together;	7 Su dorso son hileras de escudos, que cierra un sello de piedra.
8 They are fitted each so close to the next that no space intervenes;	8 Están apretados uno a otro, y ni un soplo puede pasar entre ellos.
9 So joined one to another that they hold fast and cannot be parted.	9 Están pegados entre sí y quedan unidos sin fisura.
10 When he sneezes, light flashes forth; his eyes are like those of the dawn.	10 Echa luz su estornudo, sus ojos son como los párpados de la aurora.
11 Out of his mouth go forth firebrands; sparks of fire leap forth.	11 Salen antorchas de sus fauces, chispas de fuego saltan.
12 From his nostrils issues steam, as from a seething pot or bowl.	12 De sus narices sale humo, como de un caldero que hierve junto al fuego.
13 His breath sets coals afire; a flame pours from his mouth.	13 Su soplo enciende carbones, una llama sale de su boca.
14 Strength abides in his neck, and terror leaps before him.	14 En su cuello se asienta la fuerza, y ante él cunde el espanto.
	15 Son compactas las papadas de su carne: están pegadas a ella, inseparables.
16 His heart is hard as stone; his flesh, as the lower millstone.	16 Su corazón es duro como roca, resistente como piedra de molino.
17 When he rises up, the mighty are afraid; the waves of the sea fall back.	17 Cuando se yergue, se amedrentan las olas, y las ondas del mar se retiran.
18 Should the sword reach him, it will not avail; nor will the spear, nor the dart, nor the javelin.	18 Le alcanza la espada sin clavarse, lo mismo la lanza, jabalina o dardo.
19 He regards iron as straw, and bronze as rotten wood.	19 Para él e hierro es sólo paja, el bronce, madera carcomida.
20 The arrow will not put him to flight; slingstones used against him are but straws.	20 No le ahuyentan los disparos del arco, cual polvillo le llegan las piedras de la honda.
21 Clubs he esteems as splinters; he laughs at the crash of the spear.	21 Una paja le parece la maza, se ríe del venablo que silba.
22 His belly is sharp as pottery fragments; he spreads like a threshing sledge upon the mire.	22 Debajo de él tejas puntiagudas: un trillo que va pasando por el lodo.
23 He makes the depths boil like a pot; the sea he churns like perfume in a kettle.	23 Hace del abismo una olla borbotante, cambia el mar en pebetero.
24 Behind him he leaves a shining path; you would think the deep had the hoary head of age.	24 Deja tras sí una estela luminosa, el abismo diríase una melena blanca.
25 Upon the earth there is not his like, intrepid he was made.	25 No hay en la tierra semejante a él, que ha sido hecho intrépido.
26 All, however lofty, fear him; he is king over all proud beasts.	26 Mira a la cara a los más altos, es rey de todos los hijos del orgullo.
