1 Ein Gebet Davids.Neige, o HERR, dein Ohr, erhöre mich,denn elend bin ich und arm!	1 A Prayer of David. Incline thy ear, O LORD, and answer me, for I am poor and needy.
2 Bewahre meine Seele, denn ich bin fromm;hilf du, mein Gott, deinem Knecht, der auf dich vertraut!	2 Preserve my life, for I am godly; save thy servant who trusts in thee. Thou art my God;
3 Sei mir gnädig, o Allherr,denn zu dir rufe ich allezeit.	3 be gracious to me, O Lord, for to thee do I cry all the day.
4 Erfreue das Herz deines Knechtes,denn zu dir, o Allherr, erheb’ ich meine Seele.	4 Gladden the soul of thy servant, for to thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul.
5 Denn du, o Allherr, bist gütig und bereit zum Verzeihen,bist reich an Gnade für alle, die dich anrufen.	5 For thou, O Lord, art good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call on thee.
6 Vernimm, o HERR, mein Gebetund merke auf mein lautes Flehen!	6 Give ear, O LORD, to my prayer; hearken to my cry of supplication.
7 Bin ich in Not, so ruf’ ich zu dir,denn du erhörst mich.	7 In the day of my trouble I call on thee, for thou dost answer me.
8 Keiner kommt dir gleich unter den Göttern, o Allherr,und nichts ist deinen Werken vergleichbar.	8 There is none like thee among the gods, O Lord, nor are there any works like thine.
9 Alle Völker, die du geschaffen,werden kommen und vor dir anbeten,o Allherr, und deinen Namen ehren;	9 All the nations thou hast made shall come and bow down before thee, O Lord, and shall glorify thy name.
10 denn du bist groß, und Wunder tust du:ja du, nur du bist Gott.	10 For thou art great and doest wondrous things, thou alone art God.
11 Lehre mich, HERR, deinen Weg,daß ich ihn wandle in deiner Wahrheit (oder: in Treue gegen dich);richte mein Herz auf das Eine,daß es deinen Namen fürchte!	11 Teach me thy way, O LORD, that I may walk in thy truth; unite my heart to fear thy name.
12 Preisen will ich dich, Allherr, mein Gott, von ganzem Herzenund deinen Namen ewiglich ehren;	12 I give thanks to thee, O Lord my God, with my whole heart, and I will glorify thy name for ever.
13 denn deine Gnade ist groß gegen mich gewesen:du hast meine Seele (oder: mein Leben) errettet aus der Tiefe des Totenreichs.	13 For great is thy steadfast love toward me; thou hast delivered my soul from the depths of Sheol.
14 O Gott! Vermessene haben sich gegen mich erhoben,eine Rotte von Schreckensmännern steht mir nach dem Leben;sie haben dich nicht vor Augen.	14 O God, insolent men have risen up against me; a band of ruthless men seek my life, and they do not set thee before them.
15 Doch du, o Allherr, bist ein Gott voll Erbarmen und Gnade,langmütig und reich an Gnade und Treue.	15 But thou, O Lord, art a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness.
16 Wende dich zu mir und sei mir gnädig;verleih deine Kraft deinem Knechtund hilf dem Sohne deiner Magd!	16 Turn to me and take pity on me; give thy strength to thy servant, and save the son of thy handmaid.
17 Tu ein Zeichen an mir zum Guten,daß meine Feinde es sehn und sich schämen müssen,weil du, o HERR, mein Helfer und Tröster gewesen!	17 Show me a sign of thy favor, that those who hate me may see and be put to shame because thou, LORD, hast helped me and comforted me.
