KING JAMES BIBLENOVA VULGATA
And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;1 Dicebat autem parabolam ad illos, quoniam oportet semper orare et nondeficere,
Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man:2 dicens: “ Iudex quidam erat in quadam civitate, qui Deum nontimebat et hominem non reverebatur.
And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary.3 Vidua autem erat in civitate illa etveniebat ad eum dicens: “Vindica me de adversario meo”.
And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man;4 Et nolebat permultum tempus; post haec autem dixit intra se: “Etsi Deum non timeo nechominem revereor,
Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.5 tamen quia molesta est mihi haec vidua, vindicabo illam, nein novissimo veniens suggillet me” ”.
And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith.6 Ait autem Dominus: “ Audite quidiudex iniquitatis dicit;
And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?7 Deus autem non faciet vindictam electorum suorumclamantium ad se die ac nocte, et patientiam habebit in illis?
I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?8 Dico vobis:Cito faciet vindictam illorum. Verumtamen Filius hominis veniens, putas,inveniet fidem in terra? ”.
And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:9 Dixit autem et ad quosdam, qui in se confidebant tamquam iusti etaspernabantur ceteros, parabolam istam:
Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.10 “ Duo homines ascenderunt intemplum, ut orarent: unus pharisaeus et alter publicanus.
The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.11 Pharisaeus stanshaec apud se orabat: “Deus, gratias ago tibi, quia non sum sicut ceterihominum, raptores, iniusti, adulteri, velut etiam hic publicanus;
I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.12 ieiuno bisin sabbato, decimas do omnium, quae possideo”.
And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.13 Et publicanus a longe stansnolebat nec oculos ad caelum levare, sed percutiebat pectus suum dicens: “Deus,propitius esto mihi peccatori”.
I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.14 Dico vobis: Descendit hic iustificatus indomum suam ab illo. Quia omnis, qui se exaltat, humiliabitur; et, qui sehumiliat, exaltabitur ”.
And they brought unto him also infants, that he would touch them: but when his disciples saw it, they rebuked them.15 Afferebant autem ad illum et infantes, ut eos tangeret; quod cum viderent,discipuli increpabant illos.
But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.16 Iesus autem convocans illos dixit: “ Sinitepueros venire ad me et nolite eos vetare; talium est enim regnum Dei.
Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.17 Amendico vobis: Quicumque non acceperit regnum Dei sicut puer, non intrabit in illud”.
And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?18 Et interrogavit eum quidam princeps dicens: “ Magister bone, quid faciensvitam aeternam possidebo? ”.
And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God.19 Dixit autem ei Iesus: “ Quid me dicis bonum?Nemo bonus nisi solus Deus.
Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother.20 Mandata nosti: non moechaberis, non occides, nonfurtum facies, non falsum testimonium dices, honora patrem tuum et matrem ”.
And he said, All these have I kept from my youth up.21 Qui ait: “ Haec omnia custodivi a iuventute ”.
Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.22 Quo audito, Iesus aitei: “ Adhuc unum tibi deest: omnia, quaecumque habes, vende et da pauperibuset habebis thesaurum in caelo: et veni, sequere me ”.
And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich.23 His ille auditis,contristatus est, quia dives erat valde.
And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!24 Videns autem illum Iesus tristemfactum dixit: “ Quam difficile, qui pecunias habent, in regnum Dei intrant.
For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.25 Facilius est enim camelum per foramen acus transire, quam divitem intrare inregnum Dei ”.
And they that heard it said, Who then can be saved?26 Et dixerunt, qui audiebant: “ Et quis potest salvus fieri?”.
And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.27 Ait autem illis: “ Quae impossibilia sunt apud homi nes, possibiliasunt apud Deum ”.
Then Peter said, Lo, we have left all, and followed thee.28 Ait autem Petrus: “ Ecce nos dimisimus nostra et secutisumus te ”.
And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God's sake,29 Qui dixit eis: “ Amen dico vobis: Nemo est, qui reliquitdomum aut uxorem aut fratres aut parentes aut filios propter regnum Dei,
Who shall not receive manifold more in this present time, and in the world to come life everlasting.30 etnon recipiat multo plura in hoc tempore et in saeculo venturo vitam aeternam ”.
Then he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished.31 Assumpsit autem Duodecim et ait illis: “ Ecce ascendimus Ierusalem, etconsummabuntur omnia, quae scripta sunt per Prophetas de Filio hominis:
For he shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully entreated, and spitted on:32 tradetur enim gentibus et illudetur et contumeliis afficietur et conspuetur;
And they shall scourge him, and put him to death: and the third day he shall rise again.33 et, postquam flagellaverint, occident eum, et die tertia resurget ”.
And they understood none of these things: and this saying was hid from them, neither knew they the things which were spoken.34 Etipsi nihil horum intellexerunt; et erat verbum istud absconditum ab eis, et nonintellegebant, quae dicebantur.
And it came to pass, that as he was come nigh unto Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the way side begging:35 Factum est autem, cum appropinquaret Iericho, caecus quidam sedebat secusviam mendicans.
And hearing the multitude pass by, he asked what it meant.36 Et cum audiret turbam praetereuntem, interrogabat quid hocesset.
And they told him, that Jesus of Nazareth passeth by.37 Dixerunt autem ei: “ Iesus Nazarenus transit ”.
And he cried, saying, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me.38 Et clamavitdicens: “ Iesu, fili David, miserere mei! ”.
And they which went before rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: but he cried so much the more, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me.39 Et qui praeibant,increpabant eum, ut taceret; ipse vero multo magis clamabat: “ Fili David,miserere mei! ”.
And Jesus stood, and commanded him to be brought unto him: and when he was come near, he asked him,40 Stans autem Iesus iussit illum adduci ad se. Et cumappropinquasset, interrogavit illum:
Saying, What wilt thou that I shall do unto thee? And he said, Lord, that I may receive my sight.41 “ Quid tibi vis faciam? ”. At illedixit: “ Domine, ut videam ”.
And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight: thy faith hath saved thee.42 Et Iesus dixit illi: “ Respice! Fides tuate salvum fecit ”. 43 Et confestim vidit et sequebatur illum magnificans Deum.Et omnis plebs, ut vidit, dedit laudem Deo.
And immediately he received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God: and all the people, when they saw it, gave praise unto God.
