1 Unto the end, for the morning protection, a psalm for David.	1 Au maître de chant. Sur l’air “Biche de l’aurore…”. Psaume de David.
2 O God my God, look upon me: why hast thou forsaken me? Far from my salvation are the words of my sins.	2 Mon Dieu, mon Dieu, pourquoi m’as-tu abandonné? Que tu es loin de mon appel, loin des paroles que je crie!
3 O my God, I shall cry by day, and thou wilt not hear: and by night, and it shall not be reputed as folly in me.	3 Mon Dieu, je t’appelle de jour sans que tu répondes, de toute la nuit je ne peux me taire.
4 But thou dwellest in the holy place, the praise of Israel.	4 C’est toi qui habites le Sanctuaire d’où monte vers toi la louange d’Israël.
5 In thee have our fathers hoped: they have hoped, and thou hast delivered them.	5 Nos pères ont mis en toi leur espérance, ils espéraient et tu les sauvais.
6 They cried to thee, and they were saved: they trusted in thee, and were not confounded.	6 Ils criaient vers toi et tu les délivrais, ils avaient confiance et n’étaient pas déçus.
7 But I am a worm, and no man: the reproach of men, and the outcast of the people.	7 Mais moi je ne suis plus un homme, rien qu’un ver; on a honte de moi, le peuple me méprise.
8 All they that saw me have laughed me to scorn: they have spoken with the lips, and wagged the head.	8 Ceux qui me voient se moquent, ils ricanent, ils hochent la tête et ils disent:
9 He hoped in the Lord, let him deliver him: let him save him, seeing he delighteth in him.	9 “Il s’en est remis au Seigneur, qu’il le délivre, qu’il le sauve, s’il tient à lui.”
10 For thou art he that hast drawn me out of the womb: my hope from the breasts of my mother.	10 C’est toi qui m’as accouché et placé entre les seins de ma mère.
11 I was cast upon thee from the womb. From my mother's womb thou art my God,	11 Au sortir du sein j’étais jeté sur toi, c’est toi mon Dieu dès le sein de ma mère.
12 depart not from me. For tribulation is very near: for there is none to help me.	12 Ne t’éloigne pas de moi quand l’angoisse est là, vois que personne ne me secourt.
13 Many calves have surrounded me: fat bulls have besieged me.	13 Me voici encerclé: c’est une horde de taureaux sauvages, de bêtes de Bashan.
14 They have opened their mouths against me, as a lion ravening and roaring.	14 Je crois voir la gueule grande ouverte de lions rugissants prêts à me dévorer.
15 I am poured out like water; and all my bones are scattered. My heart is become like wax melting in the midst of my bowels.	15 Je suis comme un vase qui perd l’eau, tous mes os se disloquent, mon cœur est une cire qui fond, il se défait dans mes entrailles.
16 My strength is dried up like a potsherd, and my tongue hath cleaved to my jaws: and thou hast brought me down into the dust of death.	16 J’ai la gorge sèche comme un tesson, ma langue se colle à mon palais, j’ai déjà sur les lèvres la poussière de la tombe.
17 For many dogs have encompassed me: the council of the malignant hath besieged me. They have dug my hands and feet.	17 Une meute de chiens m’entoure, une bande de malfaiteurs m’attaque, ils m’ont lié les mains et les pieds.
18 They have numbered all my bones. And they have looked and stared upon me.	18 Ils ont pu compter tous mes os, car ils me regardent et m’observent.
19 They parted my garments amongst them; and upon my vesture they cast lots.	19 Ils se partagent mes vêtements; ma tunique, ils l’ont tirée au sort.
20 But thou, O Lord, remove not thy help to a distance from me; look towards my defence.	20 Mais toi, Seigneur, ne reste pas au loin, toi qui es ma force, hâte-toi de me secourir.
21 Deliver, O God, my soul from the sword: my only one from the hand of the dog.	21 Réclame à l’épée ma vie: je n’en ai qu’une; reprends-la d’entre les pattes du chien.
22 Save me from the lion's mouth; and my lowness from the horns of the unicorns.	22 Délivre-moi de la gueule du lion, sauve celui qui n’est rien, des cornes du taureau.
23 I will declare thy name to my brethren: in the midst of the church will I praise thee.	23 Je ferai pour mes frères l’éloge de ton nom, je te louerai dans la grande assemblée:
24 Ye that fear the Lord, praise him: all ye the seed of Jacob, glorify him.	24 “Vous qui craignez le Seigneur, louez-le, que toute la race de Jacob le vénère, que les descendants d’Israël le redoutent!
25 Let all the seed of Israel fear him: because he hath not slighted nor despised the supplication of the poor man. Neither hath he turned away his face from me: and when I cried to him he heard me.	25 Car il n’a pas rougi de voir, il n’a pas méprisé le malheur du malheureux. Il n’a pas détourné de lui son regard, il a répondu à son appel.”
26 With thee is my praise in a great church: I will pay my vows in the sight of them that fear him.	26 Qui vais-je louer sinon toi, dans la grande assemblée? Je tiendrai mes promesses devant ceux qui te craignent.
27 The poor shall eat and shall be filled: and they shall praise the Lord that seek him: their hearts shall live for ever and ever.	27 Tes pauvres mangeront et seront rassasiés: vous qui cherchez le Seigneur, louez-le, et que vos cœurs vivent à jamais.
28 All the ends of the earth shall remember, and shall be converted to the Lord: And all the kindreds of the Gentiles shall adore in his sight.	28 Partout, alors, on fera mention du Seigneur, de toute la terre on reviendra vers lui, toutes les familles des nations viendront adorer.
29 For the kingdom is the Lord's; and he shall have dominion over the nations.	29 Car la royauté appartient au Seigneur, c’est lui qui a pouvoir sur les nations.
30 All the fat ones of the earth have eaten and have adored: all they that go down to the earth shall fall before him.	30 Ceux-là même qui dorment dans la terre se prosterneront devant lui; ceux qui sont devenus poussière lui rendront hommage. Mon âme vivra pour lui,
31 And to him my soul shall live: and my seed shall serve him.	31 ma race le servira, pour parler du Seigneur à la génération
32 There shall be declared to the Lord a generation to come: and the heavens shall shew forth his justice to a people that shall be born, which the Lord hath made.	32 qui vient, pour annoncer sa justice au peuple qui va naître: “Voilà ce qu’a fait le Seigneur!”
