DOUAI-RHEIMSKING JAMES BIBLE
A psalm for David himself. Mercy and judgment I will sing to thee, O Lord: I will sing,1 I will sing of mercy and judgment: unto thee, O LORD, will I sing.
and I will understand in the unspotted way, when thou shalt come to me. I walked in the innocence of my heart, in the midst of my house.2 I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way. O when wilt thou come unto me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart.
I did not set before my eyes any unjust thing: I hated the workers of iniquities.3 I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me.
The perverse heart did not cleave to me: and the malignant, that turned aside from me, I would not know.4 A froward heart shall depart from me: I will not know a wicked person.
The man that in private detracted his neighbour, him did I persecute. With him that had a proud eye, and an unsatiable heart, I would not eat.5 Whoso privily slandereth his neighbour, him will I cut off: him that hath an high look and a proud heart will not I suffer.
My eyes were upon the faithful of the earth, to sit with me: the man that walked in the perfect way, he served me.6 Mine eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me: he that walketh in a perfect way, he shall serve me.
He that worketh pride shall not dwell in the midst of my house: he that speaketh unjust things did not prosper before my eyes.7 He that worketh deceit shall not dwell within my house: he that telleth lies shall not tarry in my sight.
In the morning I put to death all the wicked of the land: that I might cut off all the workers of iniquity from the city of the Lord.8 I will early destroy all the wicked of the land; that I may cut off all wicked doers from the city of the LORD.
