DOUAI-RHEIMSNEW JERUSALEM
And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:1 Yahweh then spoke to Moses and said,
The first month, the first day of the month, thou shalt set up the tabernacle of the testimony,2 'On the first day of the first month, you wil erect the Dwel ing, the Tent of Meeting,
And shalt put the ark in it, and shalt let down the veil before it:3 and place the ark of the Testimony in it and screen the ark with the curtain.
And thou shalt bring in the table, and set upon it the things that are commanded according to the rite. The candlestick shall stand with its lamps,4 You will then bring in the table and arrange what has to be arranged on it. You wil then bring in thelamp-stand and set up its lamps.
And the altar of gold whereon the incense is burnt, before the ark of the testimony. Thou shalt put the hanging in the entry of the tabernacle,5 You will place the golden altar of incense in front of the ark of the Testimony, and place the screen atthe entrance to the Dwel ing.
And before it the altar of holocaust:6 You will place the altar of burnt offerings in front of the entrance to the Dwel ing, the Tent of Meeting,
The laver between the altar and the tabernacle, and thou shalt fill it with water.7 and you wil place the basin between the Tent of Meeting and the altar, and fil it with water.
And thou shalt encompass the court with hangings, and the entry thereof.8 You will then set up the surrounding court and hang the screen at the gateway of the court.
And thou shalt take the oil of unction and anoint the tabernacle with its vessels, that they may be sanctified:9 Then, taking the anointing oil, you will anoint the Dwelling and everything inside, consecrating it and alits accessories; it wil then be holy.
The altar of holocaust and all its vessels:10 You wil then anoint the altar of burnt offerings and all its accessories, consecrating the altar; the altarwil then be especial y holy.
The laver with its foot: thou shalt consecrate all with the oil of unction, that they may be most holy.11 You wil then anoint the basin and its stand, and consecrate it.
And thou shalt bring Aaron and his sons to the door of the tabernacle of the testimony, and having washed them with water,12 You wil then bring Aaron and his sons to the entrance of the Tent of Meeting, bathe them thoroughly
Thou shalt put on them the holy vestments, that they may minister to me, and that the unction of them may prosper to an everlasting priesthood.13 and then dress Aaron in the sacred vestments, and anoint and consecrate him, to serve me in thepriesthood.
And Moses did all that the Lord had commanded.14 You wil then bring his sons, dress them in tunics
So in the first month of the second year, the first day of the month, the tabernacle was set up.15 and anoint them as you anointed their father, to serve me in the priesthood. Their anointing willconfer an everlasting priesthood on them for al their generations to come.'
And Moses reared it up, and placed the boards and the sockets and the bars, and set up the pillars,16 Moses did this; he did exactly as Yahweh had ordered him.
And spread the roof over the tabernacle, putting over it a cover, as the Lord had commanded.17 On the first day of the first month in the second year the Dwel ing was erected.
And he put the testimony in the ark, thrusting bars underneath, and the oracle above.18 Moses erected the Dwel ing. He fixed its sockets, set up its frames, put its crossbars in position andset up its poles.
And when he had brought the ark into the tabernacle, he drew the veil before it to fulfil the commandment of the Lord.19 He spread the tent over the Dwel ing and the covering for the tent over that, as Yahweh had orderedMoses.
And he set the table in the tabernacle of the testimony at the north side without the veil,20 He took the Testimony and put it in the ark, positioned the shafts on the ark and put the mercy-seaton top of the ark.
Setting there in order the loaves of proposition, as the Lord had commanded Moses.21 He brought the ark into the Dwel ing and put the screening curtain in place, screening the ark of theTestimony, as Yahweh had ordered Moses.
He set the candlestick also in the tabernacle of the testimony over against the table on the south side,22 He put the table inside the Tent of Meeting, against the side of the Dwel ing, on the north, outside thecurtain,
Placing the lamps in order, according to the precept of the Lord.23 and on it arranged the loaves before Yahweh, as Yahweh had ordered Moses.
He set also the altar of gold under the roof of the testimony over against the veil,24 He put the lamp-stand inside the Tent of Meeting, opposite the table, on the south side of theDwelling,
And burnt upon it the incense of spices, as the Lord had commanded Moses.25 and set up the lamps before Yahweh, as Yahweh had ordered Moses.
And he put also the hanging in the entry of the tabernacle of the testimony,26 He put the golden altar inside the Tent of Meeting, in front of the curtain,
And the altar of holocaust of the entry of the testimony, offering the holocaust, and the sacrifices upon it, as the Lord had commanded.27 and on it burnt fragrant incense, as Yahweh had ordered Moses.
And he set the laver between the tabernacle of the testimony and the altar, filling it with water.28 He then put the screen at the entrance to the Dwel ing.
And Moses and Aaron, and his sons washed their hands and feet,29 He put the altar of burnt offerings at the entrance to the Dwel ing, to the Tent of Meeting, and on itoffered the burnt offering and cereal offering, as Yahweh had ordered Moses.
When they went into the tabernacle of the covenant, and went to the altar, as the Lord had commanded Moses.30 He put the basin between the Tent of Meeting and the altar and put water in it for the ablutions,
He set up also the court round about the tabernacle and the altar, drawing the hanging in the entry thereof. After all things were perfected,31 where Moses, Aaron and his sons washed their hands and feet,
The cloud covered the tabernacle of the testimony, and the glory of the Lord filled it.32 whenever they entered the Tent of Meeting or approached the altar they washed, as Yahweh hadordered Moses.
Neither could Moses go into the tabernacle of the covenant, the cloud covering all things and the majesty of the Lord shining, for the cloud had covered all.33 He then set up the court round the Dwel ing and the altar and set up the screen at the gate-way tothe court. Thus Moses completed the work.
If at any time the cloud removed from the tabernacle, the children of Israel went forward by their troops:34 The cloud then covered the Tent of Meeting and the glory of Yahweh fil ed the Dwel ing.
If it hung over, they remained in the same place.35 Moses could not enter the Tent of Meeting, since the cloud stayed over it and the glory of Yahwehfilled the Dwelling.
For the cloud of the Lord hung over the tabernacle by day, and a fire by night, in the sight of all the children of Israel throughout all their mansions.36 At every stage of their journey, whenever the cloud rose from the Dwel ing, the Israelites wouldresume their march.
If the cloud did not rise, they would not resume their march until the day it did rise.
For Yahweh's cloud stayed over the Dwel ing during the daytime and there was fire inside the cloudat night, for the whole House of Israel to see, at every stage of their journey.
