EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Por lo tanto, hermanos, yo los exhorto por la misericordia de Dios a ofrecerse ustedes mismos como una víctima viva, santa y agradable a Dios: este es el culto espiritual que deben ofrecer.	1 I urge you, then, brothers, remembering the mercies of God, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, dedicated and acceptable to God; that is the kind of worship for you, as sensible people.
2 No tomen como modelo a este mundo. Por el contrario, transfórmense interiormente renovando su mentalidad, a fin de que puedan discernir cuál es la voluntad de Dios: lo que es bueno, lo que le agrada, lo perfecto.	2 Do not model your behaviour on the contemporary world, but let the renewing of your mindstransform you, so that you may discern for yourselves what is the wil of God -- what is good and acceptable andmature.
3 En virtud de la gracia que me fue dada, le digo a cada uno de ustedes: no se estimen más de lo que conviene; pero tengan por ustedes una estima razonable, según la medida de la fe que Dios repartió a cada uno.	3 And through the grace that I have been given, I say this to every one of you: never pride yourself onbeing better than you real y are, but think of yourself dispassionately, recognising that God has given to eachone his measure of faith.
4 Porque así como en un solo cuerpo tenemos muchos miembros con diversas funciones,	4 Just as each of us has various parts in one body, and the parts do not al have the same function:
5 también todos nosotros formamos un solo Cuerpo en Cristo, y en lo que respecta a cada uno, somos miembros los unos de los otros.	5 in the same way, al of us, though there are so many of us, make up one body in Christ, and asdifferent parts we are al joined to one another.
6 Conforme a la gracia que Dios nos ha dado, todos tenemos aptitudes diferentes. El que tiene el don de la profecía, que lo ejerza según la medida de la fe.	6 Then since the gifts that we have differ according to the grace that was given to each of us: if it is agift of prophecy, we should prophesy as much as our faith tells us;
7 El que tiene el don del ministerio, que sirva. El que tiene el don de enseñar, que enseñe.	7 if it is a gift of practical service, let us devote ourselves to serving; if it is teaching, to teaching;
8 El que tiene el don de exhortación, que exhorte. El que comparte sus bienes, que dé con sencillez. El que preside la comunidad, que lo haga con solicitud. El que practica misericordia, que lo haga con alegría.	8 if it is encouraging, to encouraging. When you give, you should give generously from the heart; if youare put in charge, you must be conscientious; if you do works of mercy, let it be because you enjoy doing them.
9 Amen con sinceridad. Tengan horror al mal y pasión por el bien.	9 Let love be without any pretence. Avoid what is evil; stick to what is good.
10 Amense cordialmente con amor fraterno, estimando a los otros como más dignos.	10 In brotherly love let your feelings of deep affection for one another come to expression and regardothers as more important than yourself.
11 Con solicitud incansable y fervor de espíritu, sirvan al Señor.	11 In the service of the Lord, work not halfheartedly but with conscientiousness and an eager spirit.
12 Alégrense en la esperanza, sean pacientes en la tribulación y perseverantes en la oración.	12 Be joyful in hope, persevere in hardship; keep praying regularly;
13 Consideren como propias las necesidades de los santos y practiquen generosamente la hospitalidad.	13 share with any of God's holy people who are in need; look for opportunities to be hospitable.
14 Bendigan a los que los persiguen, bendigan y no maldigan nunca.	14 Bless your persecutors; never curse them, bless them.
15 Alégrense con los que están alegres, y lloren con los que lloran.	15 Rejoice with others when they rejoice, and be sad with those in sorrow.
16 Vivan en armonía unos con otros, no quieran sobresalir, pónganse a la altura de los más humildes. No presuman de sabios.	16 Give the same consideration to al others alike. Pay no regard to social standing, but meet humblepeople on their own terms. Do not congratulate yourself on your own wisdom.
17 No devuelvan a nadie mal por mal. Procuren hacer el bien delante de todos los hombres.	17 Never pay back evil with evil, but bear in mind the ideals that all regard with respect.
18 En cuanto dependa de ustedes, traten de vivir en paz con todos.	18 As much as possible, and to the utmost of your ability, be at peace with everyone.
19 Queridos míos, no hagan justicia por sus propias manos, antes bien, den lugar a la ira de Dios. Porque está escrito: Yo castigaré. Yo daré la retribución, dice el Señor.	19 Never try to get revenge: leave that, my dear friends, to the Retribution. As scripture says:Vengeance is mine -- I wil pay them back, the Lord promises.
20 Y en otra parte está escrito: Si tu enemigo tiene hambre, dale de comer; si tiene sed, dale de beber. Haciendo esto, amontonarás carbones encendidos sobre su cabeza.	20 And more: If your enemy is hungry, give him something to eat; if thirsty, something to drink. By this,you wil be heaping red-hot coals on his head.
21 No te dejes vencer por el mal. Por el contrario, vence al mal, haciendo el bien.	21 Do not be mastered by evil, but master evil with good.
