1 Au maître de chant. À Yédoutoun. Psaume d’Asaf.	1 Unto the end, for Idithun, a psalm of Asaph.
2 J’appelle Dieu à haute voix, à haute voix, pour qu’il m’entende.	2 I cried to the Lord with my voice; to God with my voice, and he gave ear to me.
3 Je cherche le Seigneur au temps de l’épreuve; de nuit, sans me lasser, je tends la main vers lui et mon âme refuse de se consoler.	3 In the day of my trouble I sought God, with my hands lifted up to him in the night, and I was not deceived. My soul refused to be comforted:
4 Je ne me souviens pas de Dieu sans tristesse, je médite et le doute assaille mon esprit.	4 I remembered God, and was delighted, and was exercised, and my spirit swooned away.
5 Il m’empêche de fermer l’œil, je me trouble et les paroles me manquent.	5 My eyes prevented the watches: I was troubled, and I spoke not.
6 C’est que je repense aux jours d’autrefois, il y a très longtemps… Je me souviens,	6 I thought upon the days of old: and I had in my mind the eternal years.
7 et toute la nuit mon cœur s’en tourmente; je médite et mon esprit s’interroge.	7 And I meditated in the night with my own heart: and I was exercised and I swept my spirit.
8 Le Seigneur voudra-t-il se taire pour des siècles et ne pas rouvrir le temps de ses faveurs?	8 Will God then cast off for ever? or will he never be more favourable again?
9 A-t-il mis sous clé, pour toujours, sa grâce, enfermé sa parole pour les temps à venir?	9 Or will he cut off his mercy for ever, from generation to generation?
10 Est-ce que Dieu oublie sa compassion, la colère a-t-elle fermé son cœur?	10 Or will God forget to shew mercy? or will he in his anger shut up his mercies?
11 Et je dis: Voilà ce qui me brise, que le Très-Haut ait changé ses façons d’agir.	11 And I said, Now have I begun: this is the change of the right hand of the most High.
12 Je me souviens des exploits du Seigneur, je me rappelle ses miracles d’autrefois.	12 I remembered the works of the Lord: for I will be mindful of thy wonders from the beginning.
13 Je reprends une à une tes œuvres et je médite sur tes exploits.	13 And I will meditate on all thy works: and will be employed in thy inventions.
14 Ô Dieu, tout est saint dans tes œuvres, y a-t-il un Dieu grand comme est notre Dieu?	14 Thy way, O God, is in the holy place: who is the great God like our God?
15 Tu es le Dieu qui fis des merveilles, qui fis connaître aux nations ta force;	15 Thou art the God that dost wonders. Thou hast made thy power known among the nations:
16 tu as racheté ton peuple, les fils de Jacob et de Joseph.	16 with thy arm thou hast redeemed thy people the children of Jacob and of Joseph.
17 Les eaux t’ont vu, ô Dieu, elles t’ont vu, elles se sont effrayées, jusqu’en leurs profondeurs elles se sont émues.	17 The waters saw thee, O God, the waters saw thee: and they were afraid, and the depths were troubled.
18 Les nuées ont déchargé leurs eaux, les nuages ont donné de la voix, cependant que tes flèches tourbillonnaient!	18 Great was the noise of the waters: the clouds sent out a sound. For thy arrows pass:
19 On entendait le roulement de ton tonnerre et tes éclairs illuminaient le monde, une terre étonnée et tremblante.	19 the voice of thy thunder in a wheel. Thy lightnings enlightened the world: the earth shook and trembled.
20 Ton chemin croisait la mer, tes sentiers couraient sur le fond des eaux, et nul ensuite n’a retrouvé tes traces.	20 Thy way is in the sea, and thy paths in many waters: and thy footsteps shall not be known.
21 Alors tu conduisais ton peuple, ton troupeau, par la main de Moïse, avec Aaron.	21 Thou hast conducted thy people like sheep, by the hand of Moses and Aaron
