1 E dopo queste cose partendosi Paulo di Atene, pervenne in Corinto.	1 After these things, having departed from Athens, he arrived at Corinth.
2 E trovando uno giudeo, che avea nome Aquila, della insula di Ponto, con la sua donna che avea nome Priscilla, li quali erano nuovamente venuti d'Italia, però che Claudio (imperatore) avea comandato che tutti li giudei uscisseno di Roma, andò a stare con loro;	2 And upon finding a certain Jew named Aquila, born in Pontus, who had recently arrived from Italy with Priscilla his wife, (because Claudius had ordered all Jews to depart from Rome,) he met with them.
3 perciò ch' erano d' un' arte medesima, cioè che facevano (le funi e le corde, e sapeano fare) tende e trabacche; e operava (e lavorava) con loro.	3 And because he was of the same trade, he lodged with them and was working. (Now they were tentmakers by trade.)
4 ...	4 And he was arguing in the synagogue on every Sabbath, introducing the name of the Lord Jesus. And he was persuading Jews and Greeks.
5 E quivi venendo (a lui, tornando) da Macedonia (li predetti) Sila e Timoteo (per li quali elli mandato aveva), predicavano insieme con Paulo, dicendo a' iudei che per certo Iesù era Cristo, (cioè il Messia promesso loro).	5 And when Silas and Timothy had arrived from Macedonia, Paul stood firm in the Word, testifying to the Jews that Jesus is the Christ.
6 E contradicendo elli e biastemiando, squassando Paulo le vestimenta sue sopra loro, sì disse: lo sangue vostro (cioè il peccato vostro tornerà) sopra il capo vostro; io (son ormai scusato, e) mondo (e innocente) mi parto da voi, e vado a predicare alle genti pagane.	6 But since they were contradicting him and blaspheming, he shook out his garments and said to them: “Your blood is on your own heads. I am clean. From now on, I will go to the Gentiles.”
7 E così, partendosi da loro, entrò in casa d'uno fedele, che aveva nome Tito, uomo giusto; la quale casa era congiunta a lato della sinagoga (de' iudei).	7 And moving from that place, he entered into the house of a certain man, named Titus the Just, a worshiper of God, whose house was adjoined to the synagogue.
8 E il principe della sinagoga, che avea nome Crispo, e tutta la sua famiglia, e altri molti da Corinto, udendo credettero, e ricevettero il battesimo.	8 Now Crispus, a leader of the synagogue, believed in the Lord, with his entire house. And many of the Corinthians, upon hearing, believed and were baptized.
9 E (dopo queste cose) il Signore apparve in visione a Paulo, e disseli: non temere, ma parla (arditamente), e non tacere;	9 Then the Lord said to Paul, through a vision in the night: “Do not be afraid. Instead, speak out and do not be silent.
10 però ch' io sono teco; niuno sarà ardito. d' offenderti; ma sappi che tu mi guadagnerai molto popolo in questa città.	10 For I am with you. And no one will take hold of you, so as to do you harm. For many of the people in this city are with me.”
11 Onde Paulo rimase quivi uno anno e sei mesi a predicare, e molti ne convertitte.	11 Then he settled there for a year and six months, teaching the Word of God among them.
12 E (dopo queste cose) tutti li giudei di quelle contrade, provocati contra Paulo, sì il presero a furore, e menarolo inanzi a Gallione proconsole (della provincia) di Acaia (della quale provincia era la detta terra di Corinto).	12 But when Gallio was proconsul of Achaia, the Jews rose up with one accord against Paul. And they brought him to the tribunal,
13 E (accusaronlo e) dissero: questo rio predica contra la legge nostra, e introduce un altro Iddio (cioè Iesù), e induce la gente a crederli.	13 saying, “He persuades men to worship God contrary to the law.”
14 E incominciando Paulo a rispondere e a scusarsi, disse (il proconsole) Gallione a' giudei (che l'accusavano): se voi avete nissuna cosa iniqua o alcuno grande male contra a costui, ditelo, e io ne farò giustizia.	14 Then, when Paul was beginning to open his mouth, Gallio said to the Jews: “If this were some matter of injustice, or a wicked deed, O noble Jews, I would support you, as is proper.
15 Ma se voi (contendete e) questionate di vostre leggi, fra voi la partite, ch' io per me non voglie essere giudice in queste cose.	15 Yet if truly these are questions about a word and names and your law, you should see to it yourselves. I will not be the judge of such things.”
16 E così gli mandò via.	16 And he ordered them from the tribunal.
17 E allora tutti, prendendo Sostene principe della sinagoga (il quale era molto principale contra a Paulo), sì lo percotevano (eziandio) dinanzi al proconsole; ma esso non se ne curava niente.	17 But they, apprehending Sosthenes, a leader of the synagogue, beat him in front of the tribunal. And Gallio showed no concern for these things.
18 E poi dopo alquanti di Paulo, accomiatandosi da' cristiani, navigò in Siria, e con lui (li predetti) Aquila e Priscilla, li quali in Cencri s' avevano tonduti li capilli (per segno di rifiutare il mondo, e) per certo voto che avevano.	18 Yet truly, Paul, after he had remained for many more days, having said goodbye to the brothers, sailed into Syria, and with him were Priscilla and Aquila. Now he had shaved his head in Cenchreae, for he had made a vow.
19 E giunti che furono a Efeso, li lasciò quivi. Ed elli entrava per le sinagoghe de' giudei, disputando con loro (e predicandoli).	19 And he arrived at Ephesus, and he left them behind there. Yet truly, he himself, entering into the synagogue, was disputing with the Jews.
20 Ed elli pregandolo che vi stèsse alquanto tempo, non volse.	20 Then, although they were asking him to remain for a longer time, he would not agree.
21 Ma togliendo comiato da loro, promise di tornar un' altra volta se Iddio glielo permettesse; e partendosi da Efeso,	21 Instead, saying goodbye and telling them, “I will return to you again, God willing,” he set out from Ephesus.
22 pervenne in Cesarea, e visitò e salutò la Chiesa de' fedeli; e poi si partì, e andò in Antiochia.	22 And after going down to Caesarea, he went up to Jerusalem, and he greeted the Church there, and then he descended to Antioch.
23 E poi che vi fu stato alquanto tempo, si partì, (e cercò) e visitò quasi tutte le contrade di Galazia e di Frigia, (predicando e) confermando li fedeli.	23 And having spent some length of time there, he set out, and he walked in order through the region of Galatia and Phrygia, strengthening all the disciples.
24 E uno iudeo ch' era nato d' Alessandria, che avea nome Apollo, il quale era molto eloquente, si venne in Efeso. Questo essendo molto dotto delle Scritture,	24 Now a certain Jew named Apollo, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man who was powerful with the Scriptures, arrived at Ephesus.
25 e ammaestrato della fede di Cristo, parlava con grande fervore di spirito, e insegnava diligentemente la fede di Iesù; ma non sapea (e non aveva) se non il battesimo di Giovanni (Battista).	25 He was learned in the Way of the Lord. And being fervent in spirit, he was speaking and teaching the things that are of Jesus, but knowing only the baptism of John.
26 Ma con grande fidanza predicava contra ai iudei nelle loro sinagoghe. Il quale udendo li predetti Aquila e Priscilla, ricevetterlo e insegnorongli meglio la via (della fede) di Cristo (e dieronli il vero battesimo).	26 And so, he began to act faithfully in the synagogue. And when Priscilla and Aquila had heard him, they took him aside and expounded the Way of the Lord to him more thoroughly.
27 E volendo elli andare in Acaia, scrissero ai discepoli (in Acaia) da parte loro e degli altri fedeli, che il ricevessero (con onore sicuramente). Onde giungendo a loro, (essendo ben ricevuto) fu molto utile ai fedeli.	27 Then, since he wanted to go to Achaia, the brothers wrote an exhortation to the disciples, so that they might accept him. And when he had arrived, he held many discussions with those who had believed.
28 Però che essendo giudeo (e sapendo la legge), molto li convincea, mostrando loro pubblicamente per le (loro) Scritture, che Iesù era Cristo (cioè il Messia promesso).	28 For he was vehemently and publicly reproving the Jews, by revealing through the Scriptures that Jesus is the Christ.
