| 1 Questi sono i comandamenti e le osservanze e li giudicii, i quali Iddio nostro Signore comandò ch' io insegnassi, e facessigli, nella terra la quale voi dovete possedere, | 1 "Now this is the commandment, the statutes and the ordinances which the LORD your God commanded me to teach you, that you may do them in the land to which you are going over, to possess it; |
| 2 acciò che tu (abbi paura, e) temi Iddio tuo Signore, e servi tutti i suoi comandamenti, i quali io ti comando, e ai figliuoli tuoi e nepoti tuoi, per tutti i dì della vita tua, acciò che i dì tuoi crescano. | 2 that you may fear the LORD your God, you and your son and your son's son, by keeping all his statutes and his commandments, which I command you, all the days of your life; and that your days may be prolonged. |
| 3 Odi, Israel; osserva e fa che faccia quelle cose che Iddio t'hae comandato, acciò che tu abbia bene, e moltiplichi (ancora e creschi) più, siccome Iddio, Signore de' tuoi padri, ti promise di dare la terra la quale mena latte e melle. | 3 Hear therefore, O Israel, and be careful to do them; that it may go well with you, and that you may multiply greatly, as the LORD, the God of your fathers, has promised you, in a land flowing with milk and honey. |
| 4 Odi, Israel (, e ascolta): Iddio, nostro Signore, è Iddio uno. | 4 "Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD; |
| 5 Ama Iddio, tuo Signore, con tutto il tuo cuore e con tutta l'anima tua e con tutta la fortezza tua. | 5 and you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might. |
| 6 E saranno quelle parole, le quali io ti comando oggi, nel cuore tuo. | 6 And these words which I command you this day shall be upon your heart; |
| 7 E sì le dirai a' tuoi figliuoli; (ed essendo) e stando nella casa tua e andando sì le penserai (; e rauna nella mente tua), e dormendo e levandoti. | 7 and you shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. |
| 8 Le legherai, e per segno sì le applicherai alla tua mano; e saranno loro e moverannosi dinanzi agli occhi tuoi. | 8 And you shall bind them as a sign upon your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. |
| 9 E sì le scriverai al piede dell' uscio della casa tua. | 9 And you shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates. |
| 10 E poi che Iddio t'avrà menato e messo (nella casa e) nella terra, per la quale Iddio, tuo Signore, giurò (e promise) a' tuoi padri, cioè ad Abraam, Isaac e Iacob, e avratti dato le cittadi grandi e ottime, le quali tu non (facesti nè) edificasti, | 10 "And when the LORD your God brings you into the land which he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give you, with great and goodly cities, which you did not build, |
| 11 case piene (d'ogni bene e) di tutte le ricchezze, le quali tu non edificasti, le cisterne dell' acqua le quali non, cavasti, le vigne e li oliveti i quali tu non piantasti, | 11 and houses full of all good things, which you did not fill, and cisterns hewn out, which you did not hew, and vineyards and olive trees, which you did not plant, and when you eat and are full, |
| 12 e puo' ti manicare e saziare; | 12 then take heed lest you forget the LORD, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. |
| 13 guarda diligentemente, che tu non dimentichi Iddio, tuo Signore, il quale ti trasse della terra d'Egitto, di casa di servitù. Iddio, tuo Signore, te merai e a lui servirai; e per lo nome suo sì giu rerai. | 13 You shall fear the LORD your God; you shall serve him, and swear by his name. |
| 14 Non anderete dietro agli dii altrui di tutte l'altre genti, le quali sono intorno a te. | 14 You shall not go after other gods, of the gods of the peoples who are round about you; |
| 15 Imperciò che Iddio è amatore, Iddio, tuo Signore, che istà in mezzo di te, acciò che per niuno tempo (esso si dimentichi di te e) si turbi il furore di Dio, tuo Signore, contra di te, e sì ti lievi di sopra la terra. | 15 for the LORD your God in the midst of you is a jealous God; lest the anger of the LORD your God be kindled against you, and he destroy you from off the face of the earth. |
| 16 Non tenterai Iddio, tuo Signore, sì come tu lo tentasti nel luogo della tentazione (colà dove tu avesti tentazione di manicare carne). | 16 "You shall not put the LORD your God to the test, as you tested him at Massah. |
| 17 Guarda i comandamenti di Dio, tuo Signore, e le cerimonie le quali io ti comandai. | 17 You shall diligently keep the commandments of the LORD your God, and his testimonies, and his statutes, which he has commanded you. |
| 18 E [ fa ] quello che piace ed è (accetto e) buono dinanzi a Dio, acciò che tu abbia bene, ed entrando abiti e possegghi la terra ottima, della quale Iddio giurò (di dare) a' tuoi padri, | 18 And you shall do what is right and good in the sight of the LORD, that it may go well with you, and that you may go in and take possession of the good land which the LORD swore to give to your fathers |
| 19 e che ispegnerebbe (e ucciderebbe) tutti quanti i nimici contro a te (che sono dinanzi), come egli disse. | 19 by thrusting out all your enemies from before you, as the LORD has promised. |
| 20 E quando il tuo figliuolo domani ti diman derà, e dirà: che vogliono dire questi testimonii e queste osservanze e questi giudicii, i quali ti comandò Iddio, nostro Signore? | 20 "When your son asks you in time to come, 'What is the meaning of the testimonies and the statutes and the ordinances which the LORD our God has commanded you?' |
| 21 (allora tu) gli dirai: noi eravamo in Egitto servi di Faraone, e Iddio sì ce ne trasse, e menocci d'Egitto colla mano sua forte. | 21 then you shall say to your son, 'We were Pharaoh's slaves in Egypt; and the LORD brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand; |
| 22 E (per noi) fece segni e grandi meraviglie, ree per quegli d'Egitto, contro a Faraone e contra la sua casa (innanzi a noi e) in nostra presenza. | 22 and the LORD showed signs and wonders, great and grievous, against Egypt and against Pharaoh and all his household, before our eyes; |
| 23 E sì ci trasse e meno quindi, acciò che menati sì ci desse la terra, sopra la quale giurò di darla a' nostri padri. | 23 and he brought us out from there, that he might bring us in and give us the land which he swore to give to our fathers. |
| 24 E sì ci comando Iddio, che noi facciamo tutte queste cose, (e abbiamo paura) e temiamo Iddio, nostro Signore, e abbiamo bene tutti i dì della vita nostra, come noi abbiamo oggi. | 24 And the LORD commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the LORD our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as at this day. |
| 25 E avrà misericordia di noi, se noi serve remo e faremo tutti quanti i suoi comandamenti, dinanzi da Dio nostro Signore, sì com ' egli ci comandò. | 25 And it will be righteousness for us, if we are careful to do all this commandment before the LORD our God, as he has commanded us.' |
