| 1 Questa è la benedizione, nella quale bene disse Moisè, uomo di Dio, i figliuoli d'Israel innanzi ch' egli morisse. | 1 This is the blessing with which Moses the man of God blessed the children of Israel before his death. |
| 2 E disse: Iddio Signore verrà (del monte) di Sinai, e di Seir sì ci apparì; egli apparì del monte di Faran, e con lui migliaia di santi; nella mano sua ritta sì era legge di fuoco. | 2 He said, "The LORD came from Sinai, and dawned from Seir upon us; he shone forth from Mount Paran, he came from the ten thousands of holy ones, with flaming fire at his right hand. |
| 3 Egli amò tutti i popoli; tutti quanti i santi sono nella mano sua; e quegli che s'approssimano a' suoi piedi, sì piglieranno (del suo ammaestramento e) della sua dottrina. | 3 Yea, he loved his people; all those consecrated to him were in his hand; so they followed in thy steps, receiving direction from thee, |
| 4 Moisè sici (comandò, e diede) la legge, a Iacob la ereditade della moltitudine. | 4 when Moses commanded us a law, as a possession for the assembly of Jacob. |
| 5 Egli sarà dinanzi a rettissimo re, insieme raunati i principi del popolo colle schiatte d'Israel. | 5 Thus the LORD became king in Jeshurun, when the heads of the people were gathered, all the tribes of Israel together. |
| 6 Viva Ruben, e non muoia; e sia picciolo di numero (di gente). | 6 "Let Reuben live, and not die, nor let his men be few." |
| 7 Questa è la benedizione di Giuda: odi, Signore Iddio, la voce di Giuda, e menalo al popolo suo; le sue mani combatteranno per lui, e saranno in aiuto suo contro a' suoi (nemici e) avversarii. | 7 And this he said of Judah: "Hear, O LORD, the voice of Judah, and bring him in to his people. With thy hands contend for him, and be a help against his adversaries." |
| 8 E a Levi si disse: la tua perfezione e la tua dottrina all'uomo santo tuo, il quale provasti nella (sua) tentazione, e all'acque della contraddizione (e della mormorazione) giudicasti. | 8 And of Levi he said, "Give to Levi thy Thummim, and thy Urim to thy godly one, whom thou didst test at Massah, with whom thou didst strive at the waters of Meribah; |
| 9 Il quale (Levi) disse al padre e alla madre sua: non vi conosco (e non so chi voi vi siete), e alli fratelli suoi: io non so chi vi siete; e non sep pono chi si fossono i loro figliuoli. Costoro sì (man darono e) servarono la parola tua, e il tuo patto servarono, | 9 who said of his father and mother, 'I regard them not'; he disowned his brothers, and ignored his children. For they observed thy word, and kept thy covenant. |
| 10 i tuoi giudicii, o Iacob, e la tua legge, o Israel; loro porranno l'incenso nel tuo furore, e lo olocausto (e l'offerta e il sacrificio) sopra il tuo altare. | 10 They shall teach Jacob thy ordinances, and Israel thy law; they shall put incense before thee, and whole burnt offering upon thy altar. |
| 11 Signore, benedici la fortezza sua, e ricevi l'opere delle sue mani. Percuoti (e batti) i dorsi dei suoi nemici; non si levi chi l'hae avuto in odio. | 11 Bless, O LORD, his substance, and accept the work of his hands; crush the loins of his adversaries, of those that hate him, that they rise not again." |
| 12 E disse a Beniamin: l’amoroso di Dio Signore (istà e) abita sicuramente con lui; e quasi tutto di istarà nel suo luogo secreto e delicato, e si riposerà tra le sue spalle. | 12 Of Benjamin he said, "The beloved of the LORD, he dwells in safety by him; he encompasses him all the day long, and makes his dwelling between his shoulders." |
| 13 E a Iosef sì disse: la terra sua si è della be nedizione di Dio Signore, de' frutti del cielo, e della rugiada e dell' abisso che sta di sotto, | 13 And of Joseph he said, "Blessed by the LORD be his land, with the choicest gifts of heaven above, and of the deep that couches beneath, |
| 14 de' frutti e de' pomi del sole e della luna, | 14 with the choicest fruits of the sun, and the rich yield of the months, |
| 15 e delle cime de monti antiqui, de' pomi dei monti eterni, | 15 with the finest produce of the ancient mountains, and the abundance of the everlasting hills, |
| 16 delle biade della terra, e di ogni cosa che piena venga. La benedizione, venga sopra il capo di Iosef, di colui che apparì nel pruno del fuoco (cioè ch' era acceso, e non si consumava), e sopra il capo (venga) del Nazareo che sarà tra' suoi fratelli. | 16 with the best gifts of the earth and its fulness, and the favor of him that dwelt in the bush. Let these come upon the head of Joseph, and upon the crown of the head of him that is prince among his brothers. |
| 17 La sua bellezza, siccome del toro primoge nito (che in prima nasce); le sue corna come d'uni cornio sono; per queste corna percuoterà tutte le genti, insino ai termini di tutta quanta la terra. Queste sono le moltitudini di Efraim, e queste sono le migliaia di Manasse. | 17 His firstling bull has majesty, and his horns are the horns of a wild ox; with them he shall push the peoples, all of them, to the ends of the earth; such are the ten thousands of Ephraim, and such are the thousands of Manasseh." |
| 18 E disse a Zabulon: nella uscita tua rallie grati; e tu, Issacar, ne' tabernacoli tuoi. | 18 And of Zebulun he said, "Rejoice, Zebulun, in your going out; and Issachar, in your tents. |
| 19 Costoro chiameranno i popoli a' monti, e qui faranno sacrificii di giustizia; i quali succhieranno (e beranno) il latte, quasi come abbondanze d'onde di mare, e' tesori che sono nascosti nell'arena (del mare). | 19 They shall call peoples to their mountain; there they offer right sacrifices; for they suck the affluence of the seas and the hidden treasures of the sand." |
| 20 E disse a Gad: benedetto in larghezza (e in ampiezza) Gad; siccome leone si riposoe, e sì pigliò il braccio e il capo. | 20 And of Gad he said, "Blessed be he who enlarges Gad! Gad couches like a lion, he tears the arm, and the crown of the head. |
| 21 E vide il suo principato, che nella sua parte era riposto il dottore; si ficcoe colli principi del popolo, e fece la giustizia del Signore, e il suo giudicio con esso Israel. | 21 He chose the best of the land for himself, for there a commander's portion was reserved; and he came to the heads of the people, with Israel he executed the commands and just decrees of the LORD." |
| 22 E a Dan disse: Dan, come uno catello di leone, sì gli uscirà largamente di Basan. | 22 And of Dan he said, "Dan is a lion's whelp, that leaps forth from Bashan." |
| 23 E a Neftali disse: Neftali si avrà frutto di grande abbondanza, e sarà pieno della benedizione di Dio; la mattina e di mezzodì sì possederà (e terrà). | 23 And of Naphtali he said, "O Naphtali, satisfied with favor, and full of the blessing of the LORD, possess the lake and the south." |
| 24 E ad Aser sì disse: benedetto ne' figliuoli di Aser; sia piacente a' suoi fratelli, e sì intinga nell'olio il piede. | 24 And of Asher he said, "Blessed above sons be Asher; let him be the favorite of his brothers, and let him dip his foot in oil. |
| 25 È il suo calzamento ferro e metallo; come i dì della tua gioventù, così nella tua vecchiezza. | 25 Your bars shall be iron and bronze; and as your days, so shall your strength be. |
| 26 Non è alcuno altro Iddio, come Iddio salitore direttissimo (e ritto) del cielo; il quale è tuo aiutatore. Per la sua magnificenzia i nuvoli vanno in quà e in là. | 26 "There is none like God, O Jeshurun, who rides through the heavens to your help, and in his majesty through the skies. |
| 27 Il suo abitacolo (e la sua abitazione) si è di sopra, e di sotto le braccia sempiterne; egli caccerà dinanzi alla tua faccia il tuo nemico, e diragli: (vieni meno; e) cadi a terra. | 27 The eternal God is your dwelling place, and underneath are the everlasting arms. And he thrust out the enemy before you, and said, Destroy. |
| 28 E Israel (solo) abiterà sicuramente e solo. Gli occhii di Iacob diventeranno iscuri nella terra del grano e del vino e nella rugiada del cielo. | 28 So Israel dwelt in safety, the fountain of Jacob alone, in a land of grain and wine; yea, his heavens drop down dew. |
| 29 Beato se tu, o Israel; o popolo, chi è simigliante a te, il quale ti salvi in Dio Signore? Lo scudo dello tuo aiuto e coltello della tua gloria; i tuoi nemici sì ti negheranuo, e tu istarai a calcare i loro colli. | 29 Happy are you, O Israel! Who is like you, a people saved by the LORD, the shield of your help, and the sword of your triumph! Your enemies shall come fawning to you; and you shall tread upon their high places." |
