Proverbi 8

BIBBIA VOLGARE	CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAIN
1 E come? non clama frequentemente la sapienza, e grida la prudenza?	1 Does not wisdom call out, and prudence bestow her voice?
2 (data da Dio a Moisè nel monte). La qual sta in mezzo delle vie,	2 At the summits and the tops of exalted places, standing above the ways, in the midst of the paths,
3 appresso le porte della città, (per che la legge è manifesta negli luoghi pubblici); la qual grida in quelle, e dice:	3 beside the gates of the city, at the very doors, she speaks, saying:
4 O generazione umana, a voi sollecitamente clamo, e la mia voce a voi si drizza.	4 “O men, to you I call out, and my voice is to the sons of men.
5 O ignoranti, (venite che vi) voglio (ammaestrarvi e) farvi astuti (acciò voi sappiate difendervi dal male); e voi, insipienti, voltate il cuor vostro alle mie parole.	5 O little ones, understand discernment. And you who are unwise, turn your souls.
6 Uditemi, per che io ho a parlare di cose grandi (e magne); e le mie labbra s'apriranno a predicarvi cose rette.	6 Listen, for I will speak about great things, and my lips will be opened, so as to foretell what is right.
7 E sì vi parlerò cose vere, le quali ho per avanti pensato, le quali saranno a detestazione degli empii.	7 My throat shall practice truth, and my lips shall detest the impious.
8 Tutti i miei parlari sono giusti; e in loro non è alcuna sentenza prava nè perversa.	8 All my words are just. There is no depravity in them, and no perversity.
9 I miei parlari sono retti agli uomini intelligenti, e giusti agli uomini scientifici.	9 They are upright to those who understand, and equitable to those who discover knowledge.
10 Accettate il mio ammaestramento, e non pecunia; eleggetevi più presto dottrina, che auro.	10 Accept my discipline, and not money. Choose the doctrine that is greater than gold.
11 Per che è migliore la sapienza di tutte le preziosissime ricchezze; e tutto quello si puote desiderare non è da esser comparato a lei.	11 For wisdom is better than all that is most precious, and everything that is desirable cannot compare to her.
12 Io, sapienza, abito nel consiglio (cioè in quelli che volontieri consenteno agli ammaestramenti degli uomini buoni); e io son presente agli uomini (discreti ed) eruditi, disponendo di loro cogitazioni (e opere).	12 I, wisdom, dwell in counsel, and I am inside learned thoughts.
13 Lo timor del Signore ha odio al male; io escomunico la arroganza e la superbia, tutte le vie (manifeste) degli uomini pravi, e tutti gli uomini bilingui (e duplici).	13 The fear of the Lord hates evil. I detest arrogance, and pride, and every wicked way, and a mouth with a double tongue.
14 Mio è il consiglio e la equità (e sanza me non vi puote essere), mia è la prudenza, mia è la fortezza.	14 Counsel is mine, and equity. Prudence is mine. Strength is mine.
15 Per me regnano i re (quanto al consiglio); per me i conditori (e componitori) delle leggi cognoscono quello è giusto (quanto alla equitate).	15 Through me, kings reign and legislators decree just conditions.
16 Per me i principi comandano (e òrdinano quanto alla prudenza); per me i potenti cognoscono la giustizia (quanto alla fortezza, e pugnano per lei).	16 Through me, princes rule and the powerful decree justice.
17 Io quegli che mi amano, amo; e se nella gioventute sua mi cercheranno, mi troveranno.	17 I love those who love me. And those who stand watch for me until morning shall discover me.
18 Apresso a me sono le divizie e la gloria, e le ricchezze trapassanti ogni cosa temporale, e la giustizia.	18 With me, are wealth and glory, superb riches and justice.
19 Egli è migliore il mio frutto (il qual è vita eterna), che l'oro e le pietre preziose; e le mie virtù (le quali io do) sono migliori dell' argento eletto.	19 For my fruit is better than gold and precious stones, and my progeny better than choice silver.
20 Io men vo per le vie della giustizia, e nel mezzo de' sentieri del giudicio,	20 I walk in the way of justice, in the midst of the paths of judgment,
21 acciò ch' io facci ricchi quegli mi amano (de' doni spirituali), e i loro tesauri (che sono le potenze dell' anima nostra) riempia (di diverse grazie).	21 so that I may enrich those who love me, and thus complete their treasures.
22 Il Signore ha posseduto me (sapienza, cioè generato) in lo principio delle sue creature, avanti fusse fatto alcuna cosa.	22 The Lord possessed me in the beginning of his ways, before he made anything, from the beginning.
23 Ab eterno son ordinata (cioè generata) inanzi ogni tempo, inanzi fusse fatta la terra.	23 I was ordained from eternity, and out of antiquity, before the earth was formed.
24 Non erano anco (produtti) gli abissi, e io era concetta; e anco i fonti delle acque non erano creati;	24 The abyss did not yet exist, and I was already conceived; neither had the fountains of waters yet erupted.
25 nè i monti fondati; avanti fusse produtto alcuno colle, io era parturita;	25 The mountains, with their great mass, had not yet been established. Before the hills, I was brought forth.
26 anco la terra non era fatta, nè i fiumi, nè i cardini del mondo.	26 Still he had not made the earth, and the rivers, and the poles of the globe of the earth.
27 Quando sì facea i cieli, eravi presente; quando chiudeva il mare di certo termine;	27 I was already present: when he prepared the heavens; when, with a certain law and a circuit, he fortified the abyss;
28 quando facea il cielo empireo, quando ponea il termine ai fonti dell' acque;	28 when he made firm the sky above, and set free the fountains of waters;
29 quando circondava il mare, ponendovi il termine suo alle acque, le quali non passassero li suoi confini; quando ponea la terra come fondamento;	29 when he encompassed the sea within its limits, and laid down a law for the waters, lest they transgress their limits; when he weighed the foundations of the earth.
30 con lui era, componendo tutte le cose; e sì mi dilettava eternalmente, facendo festa con lui ogni tempo (cioè sempre),	30 I was with him in composing all things. And I was delighted, throughout every day, by playing in his sight at all times,
31 rallegrandomi di tutte le cose create; e le mie delizie fossero con i figliuoli degli uomini, (per che Iddio abita in noi per grazia).	31 playing in globe of the earth. And my delight was to be with the sons of men.
32 Allora, figliuoli, udite me: beati quegli che custodiscono le mie vie.	32 Therefore, sons, hear me now. Blessed are those who preserve my ways.
33 Audite l'ammaestramento mio, e siate savii, e non vogliate rimuoverlo da voi.	33 Listen to discipline, and become wise, and do not be willing to cast it aside.
34 Beato quello uomo, il qual mi aude, il qual vigila ogni di dinanzi alle mie porte (le quali sono la scrittura santa), e sta con diligenza alli sustentacoli della mia porta (i quali sono i predicatori).	34 Blessed is the man who listens to me, and who stands watch at my gates everyday, and who observes at the posts of my doors.
35 Quegli mi troveranno [troveranno] la vita, e acquisteranno la salute in el Signore (cioè vita eterna).	35 He who finds me, finds life, and he will draw salvation from the Lord.
36 Quegli che peccheranno contra a me, offenderanno l' anima sua. Tutti quelli m' hanno odiato, amano la morte (eterna).	36 But he who sins against me will wound his own soul. All who hate me love death.”
