1 Коли савська цариця почула про славу Соломона і, бажаючи перевірити його загадками, прибула до Єрусалиму з вельми великим почетом та з верблюдами, що везли пахощі, силу золота й дорогоцінного каміння; прибувши до Соломона, розмовляла з ним про все, що було в неї на серці.	1 The queen of Sheba heard of Solomon's fame and came to Jerusalem to test Solomon with difficultquestions, with a very large retinue with camels laden with spices and an immense quantity of gold and preciousstones. Having reached Solomon, she discussed everything that she had in mind with him,
2 Соломон же відповів їй на всі її питання: нічого не було для Соломона неясного, чого б він їй не з’ясував.	2 and Solomon had an answer for al her questions; not one of them was too obscure for Solomon toanswer for her.
3 Савська цариця, побачивши мудрість Соломона й палац, що він збудував,	3 When the queen of Sheba saw how wise Solomon was, the palace which he had built,
4 і страви до його столу, приміщення слуг його, розміщення челяді, одежу їхню, його підчаших та їхню одежу, всепалення, що він приносив у Господньому домі, — з захопленням	4 the food at his table, the accommodation for his officials, the organisation of his staff and the way theywere dressed, his cupbearers and the way they were dressed, and the burnt offerings, which he made in theTemple of Yahweh, it left her breathless,
5 мовила до царя: «Щира правда те, що я чула в моїй землі про твої діла та про твою мудрість;	5 and she said to the king, 'The report I heard in my own country about you and about your wisdom inhandling your affairs was true, then!
6 та я не йняла віри переказам про них, доки не прийшла й не побачила на свої очі. І оце мені й половину не було сказано про твою велику мудрість: у тебе її більше, ніж іде поголоска, що я чула.	6 Until I came and saw for myself, I did not believe the reports, but clearly I was told less than half aboutthe true extent of your wisdom. You surpass what was reported to me.
7 Щасливі твої люди, щасливі оці твої слуги, що повсякчас стоять перед тобою та слухають твою мудрість.	7 How fortunate your people are! How fortunate your courtiers, continually in attendance on you andlistening to your wisdom!
8 Нехай буде благословен Господь, Бог твій, що сподобав тебе й посадив тебе на свій престіл за царя в Господа, Бога твого! Це тому, що Бог полюбив Ізраїля й хотів зміцнити його навіки, настановив він тебе царем над ним, щоб чинити суд і правду.»	8 Blessed be Yahweh your God. Because your God loved Israel and meant to keep it secure for ever, hehas made you its king to administer law and justice.'
9 І подарувала вона цареві 120 талантів золота й превелику силу пахощів та дорогого каміння; не бувало ніколи таких пахощів, які савська цариця подарувала цареві Соломонові.	9 And she presented the king with a hundred and twenty talents of gold and great quantities of spicesand precious stones. There never were such spices as those which the queen of Sheba gave to King Solomon.
10 А слуги Хірама й слуги Соломона, що привезли золота з Офіру, привезли також і алґум-дерева і дорогоцінного каміння.	10 Similarly, the men employed by Huram and the men employed by Solomon, who brought the goldfrom Ophir, also brought back algum wood and precious stones.
11 Цар зробив з алґум-дерева сходи до дому Господнього й до царського палацу і цитри та гарфи для співців; не видано було нічого такого раніш у Юдейській землі.	11 Of the algum wood the king made steps for the Temple of Yahweh and for the royal palace, and harpsand lyres for the musicians, the like of which had never before been seen in Judah.
12 Цар же Соломон дав савській цариці все, чого вона бажала й просила, крім того, що дав їй на заміну за те, що вона йому привезла. І вибралась вона назад у свою землю, вона та її слуги.	12 And King Solomon, in his turn, presented the queen of Sheba with everything that she expressed awish for, besides what he gave her in exchange for what she had brought to the king. After which, she wenthome to her own country, she and her servants.
13 Золота, що приходило до Соломона лише за один рік, було вагою 666 талантів,	13 The weight of the gold received annually by Solomon amounted to six hundred and sixty-six talents ofgold,
14 крім того, що приносили купці та крамарі; та й усі арабські царі й правителі краю приносили золото й срібло Соломонові.	14 besides what tol s and foreign trade brought in; all the Arab kings and the provincial governors alsobrought gold and silver to Solomon.
15 Цар Соломон зробив 200 великих щитів із кутого золота — по 6000 шеклів кутого золота пішло на кожний щит —	15 King Solomon made two hundred great shields of beaten gold, six hundred shekels of beaten goldgoing into one shield;
16 і 300 маленьких щитів із кутого золота — по 300 шеклів золота пішло на кожний щит; цар примістив їх у домі з ливанського дерева.	16 also three hundred smal shields of beaten gold, three hundred shekels of gold going into one shield;and the king put these into the House of the Forest of Lebanon.
17 Цар зробив також великий престол із слонової кости й покрив його щирим золотом;	17 The king also made a great ivory throne which he overlaid with refined gold.
18 6 ступенів до престолу, золоте ягня біля підніжжя престолу, поруччя по обидва боки сидіння, двох левів, що стояли коло поруччя,	18 The throne had six steps with a golden foot-rest attached to the throne, and arms on each side of theseat and two lions standing beside the arms,
19 і 12 левенят, що стояли там на шістьох східцях по обидва боки. Такого не було роблено ні в якому царстві.	19 and twelve lions stood on either side of the six steps. Nothing like it had ever been made in any otherkingdom.
20 Увесь посуд до пиття у царя Соломона був із золота та й все начиння у палаці, що був з ливанського дерева, було з чистого золота. Срібло за часів Соломона вважали нізащо,	20 Al King Solomon's drinking vessels were of gold, and al the plate in the House of the Forest ofLebanon was of pure gold; silver was little thought of in Solomon's days,
21 бо царські кораблі ходили в Таршіш із слугами Хірама; що три роки таршішські кораблі повертались і привозили золото, срібло, слонову кість, малп та пав.	21 since the king's ships went to Tarshish with Huram's employees, and once every three years themerchantmen would come back laden with gold and silver, ivory, apes and baboons.
22 Цар Соломон був більший від усіх царів на землі заможністю й мудрістю.	22 For riches and for wisdom, King Solomon surpassed al kings on earth,
23 Усі царі землі бажали бачити Соломона, щоб послухати його мудрість, яку Бог вклав йому в серце.	23 and al the kings in the world consulted Solomon to hear the wisdom which God had implanted in hisheart,
24 Кожен з них приносив свій дар: посуд срібний, посуд золотий, одежу, зброю, пахощі, коней та мулів, і так рік у рік.	24 and everyone would bring a present with him: objects of silver and of gold, robes, armour, spices,horses and mules; and this went on year after year.
25 Було у Соломона 4 000 стаєн на коней і колісниці та 12000 колісничників; він розмістив їх по містах для колісниць і при цареві, в Єрусалимі.	25 Solomon also had four thousand stal s for horses and chariots, and twelve thousand cavalrymen;these he stationed in the chariot towns and near the king in Jerusalem.
26 Він панував над усіма царями від Ріки до Філістимлянської землі та до єгипетської границі.	26 He was overlord of all the kings from the River to the territory of the Philistines and the Egyptianborder.
27 Цар зробив срібло в Єрусалимі таким звичайним, як каміння, а кедрину, як сикомори на Шефелі, така була її сила.	27 In Jerusalem the king made silver as common as stones, and cedar wood as plentiful as sycamore inthe Lowlands.
28 Коней приводили Соломонові з Єгипту та з усіх інших країн.	28 Horses were imported for Solomon from Muzur and all the other countries too.
29 Решта дій Соломона, від перших до останніх, записані у літописах пророка Натана, в пророцтві Ахії з Шіло та в видіннях Уддо, видющого за часів Єровоама, сина Навата.	29 The rest of the history of Solomon, from first to last, is this not all written down in the records ofNathan the prophet, in the Prophecy of Ahijah of Shiloh, and in the Vision of Iddo the seer concerning Jeroboamson of Nebat?
30 Соломон царював в Єрусалимі над Ізраїлем 40 років.	30 Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel for forty years.
31 І спочив Соломон зо своїми батьками, й поховали його в місті Давида, його батька. Замість нього став царем його син Ровоам.	31 When Solomon fel asleep with his ancestors, he was buried in the City of his father David; Rehoboamhis son succeeded him.
