1 Взывай, если есть отвечающий тебе. И к кому из святых обратишься ты?	1 Make your appeal then. Wil you find an answer? To which of the holy ones wil you turn?
2 Так, глупца убивает гневливость, и несмысленного губит раздражительность.	2 Resentment kil s the senseless, and anger brings death to the fool.
3 Видел я, как глупец укореняется, и тотчас проклял дом его.	3 I have seen the senseless taking root, when a curse fel suddenly on his house.
4 Дети его далеки от счастья, их будут бить у ворот, и не будет заступника.	4 His children are deprived of prop and stay, ruined at the gate, and no one to defend them;
5 Жатву его съест голодный и из-за терна возьмет ее, и жаждущие поглотят имущество его.	5 their harvest goes to feed the hungry, God snatches it from their mouths, and covetous people thirst fortheir possessions.
6 Так, не из праха выходит горе, и не из земли вырастает беда;	6 No, misery does not grow out of the soil, nor sorrow spring from the ground.
7 но человек рождается на страдание, [как] искры, чтобы устремляться вверх.	7 It is people who breed trouble for themselves as surely as eagles fly to the height.
8 Но я к Богу обратился бы, предал бы дело мое Богу,	8 If I were you, I should appeal to God and lay my case before him.
9 Который творит дела великие и неисследимые, чудные без числа,	9 His works are great, past al reckoning, marvels beyond al counting.
10 дает дождь на лице земли и посылает воды на лице полей;	10 He sends down rain to the earth, pours down water on the fields.
11 униженных поставляет на высоту, и сетующие возносятся во спасение.	11 If his wil is to raise up the downcast, or exalt the afflicted to the heights of prosperity,
12 Он разрушает замыслы коварных, и руки их не довершают предприятия.	12 he frustrates the plans of the artful so that they cannot succeed in their intrigues.
13 Он уловляет мудрецов их же лукавством, и совет хитрых становится тщетным:	13 He traps the crafty in the snare of their own trickery, throws the plans of the cunning into disarray.
14 днем они встречают тьму и в полдень ходят ощупью, как ночью.	14 In daylight they come up against darkness, and grope their way as if noon were night.
15 Он спасает бедного от меча, от уст их и от руки сильного.	15 He rescues the bankrupt from their jaws, and the needy from the grasp of the mighty.
16 И есть несчастному надежда, и неправда затворяет уста свои.	16 Hope springs afresh for the weak, and wickedness must shut its mouth.
17 Блажен человек, которого вразумляет Бог, и потому наказания Вседержителева не отвергай,	17 Blessed are those whom God corrects! Do not then scorn the lesson of Shaddai!
18 ибо Он причиняет раны и Сам обвязывает их; Он поражает, и Его же руки врачуют.	18 For he who wounds is he who soothes the sore, and the hand that hurts is the hand that heals.
19 В шести бедах спасет тебя, и в седьмой не коснется тебя зло.	19 Six times he wil deliver you from sorrow, and the seventh time, evil wil not touch you.
20 Во время голода избавит тебя от смерти, и на войне--от руки меча.	20 In time of famine, he wil save you from death, and in wartime from the stroke of the sword.
21 От бича языка укроешь себя и не убоишься опустошения, когда оно придет.	21 You will be safe from the lash of the tongue, unafraid at the approach of the despoiler.
22 Опустошению и голоду посмеешься и зверей земли не убоишься,	22 You will laugh at drought and frost, and have no fear of the beasts of the earth.
23 ибо с камнями полевыми у тебя союз, и звери полевые в мире с тобою.	23 You will have a pact with the stones of the field, and live in amity with wild beasts.
24 И узнаешь, что шатер твой в безопасности, и будешь смотреть за домом твоим, и не согрешишь.	24 You will know that your tent is secure, and your sheepfold unharmed when you inspect it.
25 И увидишь, что семя твое многочисленно, и отрасли твои, как трава на земле.	25 You will see your descendants multiply, your offspring grow like the grass in the fields.
26 Войдешь во гроб в зрелости, как укладываются снопы пшеницы в свое время.	26 At a ripe age you wil go to the grave, like a wheatsheaf stacked in due season.
27 Вот, что мы дознали; так оно и есть: выслушай это и заметь для себя.	27 Al this we have observed and it is so! Heed it, you wil be the wiser for it!
