Atos dos Apóstolos 15

1 Alguns homens, descendo da Judéia, puseram-se a ensinar aos irmãos o seguinte: Se não vos circuncidais, segundo o rito de Moisés, não podeis ser salvos.	1 And certain ones, descending from Judea, were teaching the brothers, “Unless you are circumcised according to the custom of Moses, you cannot be saved.”
2 Originou-se então grande discussão de Paulo e Barnabé com eles, e resolveu-se que estes dois, com alguns outros irmãos, fossem tratar desta questão com os apóstolos e os anciãos em Jerusalém.	2 Therefore, when Paul and Barnabas made no small uprising against them, they decided that Paul and Barnabas, and some from the opposing side, should go up to the Apostles and priests in Jerusalem concerning this question.
3 Acompanhados {algum tempo} dos membros da comunidade, tomaram o caminho que atravessa a Fenícia e Samaria. Contaram a todos os irmãos a conversão dos gentios, o que causou a todos grande alegria.	3 Therefore, being led by the church, they traveled through Phoenicia and Samaria, describing the conversion of the Gentiles. And they caused great joy among all the brothers.
4 Chegando a Jerusalém, foram recebidos pela comunidade, pelos apóstolos e anciãos, a quem contaram tudo o que Deus tinha feito com eles.	4 And when they had arrived in Jerusalem, they were received by the church and the Apostles and the elders, reporting what great things God had done with them.
5 Mas levantaram-se alguns que antes de ter abraçado a fé eram da seita dos fariseus, dizendo que era necessário circuncidar os pagãos e impor-lhes a observância da Lei de Moisés.	5 But some from the sect of the Pharisees, those who were believers, rose up saying, “It is necessary for them to be circumcised and to be instructed to keep the Law of Moses.”
6 Reuniram-se os apóstolos e os anciãos para tratar desta questão.	6 And the Apostles and elders came together to take care of this matter.
7 Ao fim de uma grande discussão, Pedro levantou-se e lhes disse: Irmãos, vós sabeis que já há muito tempo Deus me escolheu dentre vós, para que da minha boca os pagãos ouvissem a palavra do Evangelho e cressem.	7 And after a great contention had taken place, Peter rose up and said to them: “Noble brothers, you know that, in recent days, God has chosen from among us, by my mouth, Gentiles to hear the word of the Gospel and to believe.
8 Ora, Deus, que conhece os corações, testemunhou a seu respeito, dando-lhes o Espírito Santo, da mesma forma que a nós.	8 And God, who knows hearts, offered testimony, by giving the Holy Spirit to them, just as to us.
9 Nem fez distinção alguma entre nós e eles, purificando pela fé os seus corações.	9 And he distinguished nothing between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.
10 Por que, pois, provocais agora a Deus, impondo aos discípulos um jugo que nem nossos pais nem nós pudemos suportar?	10 Now therefore, why do you tempt God to impose a yoke upon the necks of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we have been able to bear?
11 Nós cremos que pela graça do Senhor Jesus seremos salvos, exatamente como eles.	11 But by the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, we believe in order to be saved, in the same manner also as them.”
12 Toda a assembléia o ouviu silenciosamente. Em seguida, ouviram Barnabé e Paulo contar quantos milagres e prodígios Deus fizera por meio deles entre os gentios.	12 Then the entire multitude was silent. And they were listening to Barnabas and Paul, describing what great signs and wonders God had wrought among the Gentiles through them.
13 Depois de terminarem, Tiago tomou a palavra: Irmãos, ouvi-me, disse ele.	13 And after they had been silent, James responded by saying: “Noble brothers, listen to me.
14 Simão narrou como Deus começou a olhar para as nações pagãs para tirar delas um povo que trouxesse o seu nome.	14 Simon has explained in what manner God first visited, so as to take from the Gentiles a people to his name.
15 Ora, com isto concordam as palavras dos profetas, como está escrito:	15 And the words of the Prophets are in agreement with this, just as it was written:
16 Depois disto voltarei, e reedificarei o tabernáculo de Davi que caiu. E reedificarei as suas ruínas, e o levantarei	16 ‘After these things, I will return, and I will rebuild the tabernacle of David, which has fallen down. And I will rebuild its ruins, and I will raise it up,
17 para que o resto dos homens busque o Senhor, e todas as nações, sobre as quais tem sido invocado o meu nome.	17 so that the rest of men may seek the Lord, along with all the nations over whom my name has been invoked, says the Lord, who does these things.’
18 Assim fala o Senhor que faz estas coisas, coisas que ele conheceu desde a eternidade {Am 9,11s.}.	18 To the Lord, his own work has been known from eternity.
19 Por isso, julgo que não se devem inquietar os que dentre os gentios se convertem a Deus.	19 Because of this, I judge that those who were converted to God from among the Gentiles are not to be disturbed,
20 Mas que se lhes escreva somente que se abstenham das carnes oferecidas aos ídolos, da impureza, das carnes sufocadas e do sangue.	20 but instead that we write to them, that they should keep themselves from the defilement of idols, and from fornication, and from whatever has been suffocated, and from blood.
21 Porque Moisés, desde muitas gerações, tem em cada cidade seus pregadores, pois que ele é lido nas sinagogas todos os sábados.	21 For Moses, from ancient times, has had in each city those who preach him in the synagogues, where he is read on every Sabbath.”
22 Então pareceu bem aos apóstolos e aos anciãos com toda a comunidade escolher homens dentre eles e enviá-los a Antioquia com Paulo e Barnabé: Judas, que tinha o sobrenome de Barsabás, e Silas, homens notáveis entre os irmãos.	22 Then it pleased the Apostles and elders, with the whole Church, to choose men from among them, and to send to Antioch, with Paul and Barnabas, and Judas, who was surnamed Barsabbas, and Silas, preeminent men among the brothers,
23 Por seu intermédio enviaram a seguinte carta: "Os apóstolos e os anciãos aos irmãos de origem pagã, em Antioquia, na Síria e Cilícia, saúde!	23 what was written by their own hands: “The Apostles and elders, brothers, to those who are at Antioch and Syria and Cilicia, brothers from the Gentiles, greetings.
24 Temos ouvido que alguns dentre nós vos têm perturbado com palavras, transtornando os vossos espíritos, sem lhes termos dado semelhante incumbência.	24 Since we have heard that some, going out from among us, have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, to whom we gave no commandment,
25 Assim nós nos reunimos e decidimos escolher delegados e enviá-los a vós, com os nossos amados Barnabé e Paulo,	25 it pleased us, being assembled as one, to choose men and to send them to you, with our most beloved Barnabas and Paul:
26 homens que têm exposto suas vidas pelo nome de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo.	26 men who have handed over their lives on behalf of the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
27 Enviamos, portanto, Judas e Silas que de viva voz vos exporão as mesmas coisas.	27 Therefore, we have sent Judas and Silas, who themselves also will, with the spoken word, reaffirm to you the same things.
28 Com efeito, pareceu bem ao Espírito Santo e a nós não vos impor outro peso além do seguinte indispensável:	28 For it has seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us to impose no further burden upon you, other than these necessary things:
29 que vos abstenhais das carnes sacrificadas aos ídolos, do sangue, da carne sufocada e da impureza. Dessas coisas fareis bem de vos guardar conscienciosamente. Adeus!	29 that you abstain from things immolated to idols, and from blood, and from what has been suffocated, and from fornication. You will do well to keep yourselves from these things. Farewell.”
30 Tendo-se despedido, a delegação dirigiu-se a Antioquia. Ali reuniram a assembléia e entregaram a carta.	30 And so, having been dismissed, they went down to Antioch. And gathering the multitude together, they delivered the epistle.
31 À sua leitura, todos se alegraram com o estímulo que ela trazia.	31 And when they had read it, they were gladdened by this consolation.
32 Judas e Silas, que eram também profetas, dirigiam aos irmãos muitas palavras de exortação e de animação.	32 But Judas and Silas, being also prophets themselves, consoled the brothers with many words, and they were strengthened.
33 Demoraram-se ali por algum tempo. Foram depois pelos irmãos despedidos em paz, voltando aos que lhos tinham enviado.	33 Then, after spending some more time there, they were dismissed with peace, by the brothers, to those who had sent them.
34 {A Silas contudo, pareceu bem ficar ali, e Judas partiu sozinho.}	34 But it seemed good to Silas to remain there. So Judas alone departed to Jerusalem.
35 Paulo e Barnabé detiveram-se também em Antioquia, ensinando e pregando com muitos outros a palavra do Senhor.	35 And Paul and Barnabas remained at Antioch, with many others, teaching and evangelizing the Word of the Lord.
36 Ao termo de alguns dias, disse Paulo a Barnabé: Tornemos a visitar os irmãos por todas as cidades onde temos pregado a palavra do Senhor, para ver como estão passando.	36 Then, after some days, Paul said to Barnabas, “Let us return to visit the brothers throughout all the cities in which we have preached the Word of the Lord, to see how they are.”
37 Barnabé queria levar consigo também João, que tinha por sobrenome Marcos.	37 And Barnabas wanted to take John, who was surnamed Mark, with them also.
38 Paulo, porém, achava que não devia ser admitido quem se tinha separado deles em Panfília e não os havia acompanhado no ministério.	38 But Paul was saying that he ought not to be received, since he withdrew from them at Pamphylia, and he had not gone with them in the work.
39 Houve tal discussão que se separaram um do outro, e Barnabé, levando consigo Marcos, navegou para Chipre.	39 And there occurred a dissension, to such an extent that they departed from one another. And Barnabas, indeed taking Mark, sailed to Cyprus.
40 Paulo, porém, tendo escolhido Silas, e depois de ter sido recomendado pelos irmãos à graça do Senhor, partiu.	40 Yet truly, Paul, choosing Silas, set out, being delivered by the brothers to the grace of God.
41 Ele percorreu a Síria, a Cilícia, confirmando as comunidades.	41 And he traveled through Syria and Cilicia, confirming the Churches, instructing them to keep the precepts of the Apostles and the elders.
