II Livro das Crônicas 2

SAGRADA BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Decidiu Salomão edificar um templo ao nome do Senhor, e construir para si próprio um palácio.	1 And Solomon allocated seventy thousand men to be porters and eighty thousand to quarry in the hillsand three thousand six hundred overseers for them.
2 Ele alistou setenta mil carregadores, oitenta mil cortadores de pedra na montanha, e três mil e seiscentos guardas de obras.	2 And Solomon sent this message to Huram king of Tyre, 'Do as you did for my father David when yousent him cedars for him to build himself a palace to live in.
3 Em seguida, mandou dizer a Hirão, rei de Tiro: Digna-te fazer para mim o que fizeste para meu pai Davi, a quem enviaste cedros para construir uma residência.	3 You see, I am building a house for the name of Yahweh my God, to acknowledge his holiness so thatperfumed incense may be burnt before him, the loaves of permanent offering be perpetual y laid out and theburnt offerings be made morning and evening, on the Sabbaths, New Moons and solemn festivals of Yahwehour God, as prescribed to Israel for ever;
4 Quero edificar um templo ao nome do Senhor, meu Deus; a ele eu o consagrarei e nele farei queimar em sua presença perfumes aromáticos. Mandar-lhe-ei apresentar continuamente pães, e oferecer os holocaustos da manhã e da tarde, dos sábados, das neomênias e das festas do Senhor, nosso Deus, segundo a lei eterna prescrita a Israel.	4 and the house which I am building must be large, for our God is greater than al gods;
5 O templo que vou construir deve ser grande, pois nosso Deus é maior que todos os deuses.	5 even so, who would not find it an impossible task to build a house for him, when the heavens and theheavens of the heavens cannot contain him? And who am I to build a house for him except to burn incensebefore him?
6 Mas, quem será capaz de construir-lhe uma casa, uma vez que o céu e os céus dos céus não o podem conter? Quem sou eu para fazer isso? And, my servants will work with your servants
8 Manda-me do Líbano madeira de cedro, cipreste e sândalo, pois eu sei que teus súditos são muito peritos em cortar as madeiras do Líbano. Meus servos auxiliarão os teus.	8 in preparing a vast quantity of timber for me, since the house which I intend to build is to be of a size tomarvel at.
9 Manda-me preparar madeira em grande quantidade, porque o templo que vou construir será grande e magnífico.	9 Furthermore, for the upkeep of the woodcutters whom you employ to cut the timber, I shal providetwenty thousand kor of wheat, twenty thousand kor of barley, twenty thousand bat of wine and twenty thousandbat of oil.'
10 A teus servos que hão de cortar as madeiras, darei por alimento vinte mil coros de trigo, vinte mil coros de cevada, vinte mil batos de vinho e vinte mil batos de azeite.	10 In a letter sent to King Solomon, Huram king of Tyre replied, 'Because Yahweh loves his people hehas made you their king!'
11 Hirão, rei de Tiro, respondeu numa carta que enviou a Salomão: É porque o Senhor ama seu povo, que te constituiu rei sobre ele.	11 Huram went on to say, 'Praised be Yahweh, God of Israel, who made heaven and earth and has givenKing David a wise son, endowed with discretion and discernment, to build a house for Yahweh and a palace inwhich to reign!-
12 Bendito seja o Senhor, Deus de Israel, que fez os céus e a terra, que deu ao rei Davi um filho sábio, inteligente e prudente, que vai construir um templo ao Senhor, assim como um palácio real.	12 I am now sending you a skil ed and intelligent man, Huram-Abi
13 Envio-te, portanto, um homem hábil e entendido, Hurão-Abi,	13 the son of a Danite woman by a Tyrian father. He knows the arts of working in gold, silver, bronze,iron, stone, wood, scarlet, violet, fine linen and crimson materials, and is competent to carry out any kind ofengraving and to execute any design which may be entrusted to him, in col aboration with your skilled men andthose of my lord David, your father.
14 Filho de uma mulher da tribo de Dã, e de um pai tírio. Ele sabe trabalhar em ouro, em prata, em bronze, em ferro, em madeira, em púrpura azul e violeta, em linho fino e em carmezim; ele sabe fazer todas as espécies de esculturas e elaborar todo plano que se lhe confie. Trabalhará ele com teus artífices e com os de meu senhor Davi, teu pai.	14 'So now let my lord send his servants the wheat, barley, oil and wine as promised
15 Que meu senhor envie, portanto, a seus servos o trigo, a cevada, o azeite e o vinho de que falou.	15 and we wil fel all the wood you need from Lebanon, and bring it you in rafts by sea to Jaffa; and it wilbe your responsibility to transport it to Jerusalem.'
16 Nós cortaremos madeiras do Líbano, tanta quanta precisares, e enviar-te-emos pelo mar, em jangadas, até Jope, donde farás subir até Jerusalém.	16 Solomon then took a census of al the aliens resident in Israel similar to the census which his fatherDavid had taken; it was found that there were a hundred and fifty-three thousand six hundred.
17 Salomão fez o recenseamento de todos os estrangeiros que habitavam em Israel, segundo o recenseamento que já tinha feito seu pai Davi; encontraram-se cento e cinqüenta e três mil e seiscentos.	17 He impressed seventy thousand of them as porters, eighty thousand as quarrymen in the hil s andthree thousand six hundred as overseers to make sure the people worked.
18 Deles designou setenta mil carregadores, oitenta mil que cortassem pedras na montanha, e três mil e seiscentos inspetores de obras para incentivar toda essa gente.
