Genesis 35

1 Deus disse a Jacó: "Vamos, sobe a Betel e fica ali, e levanta um altar nesse lugar ao Deus que se manifestou a ti, quando fugias diante de teu irmão Esaú."	1 God said to Jacob: "Go up now to Bethel. Settle there and build an altar there to the God who appeared to you while you were fleeing from your brother Esau."
2 Jacó disse à sua família e à sua gente: "Tirai do meio de vós os deuses estrangeiros, purificai-vos e mudai vossos vestidos.	2 So Jacob told his family and all the others who were with him: "Get rid of the foreign gods that you have among you; then purify yourselves and put on fresh clothes.
3 Vamos subir a Betel, onde levantarei um altar ao Deus que me ouviu no dia de minha aflição, e que esteve comigo durante minha viagem."	3 We are now to go up to Bethel, and I will build an altar there to the God who answered me in my hour of distress and who has been with me wherever I have gone."
4 Entregaram a Jacó todos os deuses estrangeiros que tinham, assim como os brincos que traziam nas orelhas, e Jacó enterrou-os debaixo de um terebinto, perto de Siquém.	4 They therefore handed over to Jacob all the foreign gods in their possession and also the rings they had in their ears.
5 Partindo eles dali, Deus semeou o pânico nas cidades circunvizinhas, de sorte que não perseguiram os filhos de Jacó.	5 Then, as they set out, a terror from God fell upon the towns round about, so that no one pursued the sons of Jacob.
6 Chegou, portanto, Jacó com toda a sua gente à Luz, na terra de Canaã, hoje Betel.	6 Thus Jacob and all the people who were with him arrived in Luz (that is, Bethel) in the land of Canaan.
7 Levantou aí um altar e deu a esse lugar o nome de El-Betel, porque foi aí que Deus lhe aparecera, quando fugia diante de seu irmão.	7 There he built an altar and named the place Bethel, for it was there that God had revealed himself to him when he was fleeing from his brother.
8 Foi então que morreu Débora, ama de Rebeca. E foi ali sepultada, ao pé de Betel, debaixo de um carvalho, ao qual se chamou carvalho dos Prantos.	8 Death came to Rebekah's nurse Deborah; she was buried under the oak below Bethel, and so it was called Allonbacuth.
9 Quando Jacó voltou de Padã-Arã, Deus apareceu-lhe novamente e o abençoou.	9 On Jacob's arrival from Paddan-aram, God appeared to him again and blessed him.
10 "Teu nome, disse-lhe ele, é Jacó. Tu não te chamarás mais assim, mas Israel." E chamou-o Israel.	10 God said to him: "You whose name is Jacob shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel shall be your name." Thus he was named Israel.
11 Deus disse-lhe: "Eu sou o Deus todo-poderoso. Sê fecundo e multiplica-te. De ti nascerão um povo e uma assembléia de povos; e de teus rins sairão reis.	11 God also said to him: "I am God Almighty; be fruitful and multiply. A nation, indeed an assembly of nations, shall stem from you, and kings shall issue from your loins.
12 A terra que dei a Abraão e a Isaac, eu ta darei e à tua posteridade."	12 The land I once gave to Abraham and Isaac I now give to you; And to your descendants after you will I give this land."
13 Depois, Deus retirou-se de junto dele.	13 Then God departed from him.
14 No mesmo lugar onde Deus lhe falou, Jacó erigiu uma estela sobre a qual fez uma libação, e derramou óleo.	14 On the site where God had spoken with him, Jacob set up a memorial stone, and upon it he made a libation and poured out oil.
15 E deu o nome de Betel ao lugar onde Deus lhe tinha falado.	15 Jacob named the site Bethel, because God had spoken with him there.
16 E partiram de Betel. Quando estavam a pouca distância de Efrata, Raquel deu à luz, e o seu parto foi penoso.	16 Then they departed from Bethel; but while they still had some distance to go on the way to Ephrath, Rachel began to be in labor and to suffer great distress.
17 Durante as dores do parto, a parteira disse-lhe: "Não temas, porque ainda terás este filho."	17 When her pangs were most severe, her midwife said to her, "Have no fear! This time, too, you have a son."
18 E, estando prestes a render a alma - porque estava já agonizante - ela chamou o filho Benoni; o seu pai, porém, chamou-o Benjamim.	18 With her last breath--for she was at the point of death-she called him Ben-oni; his father, however, named him Benjamin.
19 Raquel expirou e foi sepultada no caminho de Efrata, hoje Belém.	19 Thus Rachel died; and she was buried on the road to Ephrath (that is, Bethlehem).
20 Jacó erigiu uma estela sobre seu túmulo; é a estela do túmulo de Raquel, que ainda hoje existe.	20 Jacob set up a memorial stone on her grave, and the same monument marks Rachel's grave to this day.
21 Israel partiu e plantou sua tenda além de Migdal-Eder.	21 Israel moved on and pitched his tent beyond Migdal-eder.
22 Foi durante sua estada nessa região que Rubem foi dormir com Bala, concubina de seu pai, e Israel soube.	22 While Israel was encamped in that region, Reuben went and lay with Bilhah, his father's concubine. When Israel heard of it, he was greatly offended. The sons of Jacob were now twelve.
23 Os filhos de Jacó foram em número de doze. Filhos de Lia: Rubem, primogênito de Jacó, Simeão, Levi, Judá, Issacar e Zabulon.	23 The sons of Leah: Reuben, Jacob's first-born, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, and Zebulun;
24 Filhos de Raquel: José e Benjamim.	24 the sons of Rachel: Joseph and Benjamin;
25 Filhos de Bala, escrava de Raquel: Dã e Neftali.	25 the sons of Rachel's maid Bilhah: Dan and Naphtali;
26 Filhos de Zelfa, escrava de Lia: Gad e Aser. Tais são os filhos nascidos a Jacó em Padã-Arã.	26 the sons of Leah's maid Zilpah: Gad and Asher. These are the sons of Jacob who were born to him in Paddan-aram.
27 Jacó foi para junto de seu pai Isaac em Mambré, em Quiriat-Arbé, hoje Hebron, onde tinham habitado Abraão e Isaac.	27 Jacob went home to his father Isaac at Mamre, in Kiriath-arba (that is, Hebron), where Abraham and Isaac had stayed.
28 E todos os dias da vida de Isaac foram cento e oitenta anos.	28 The lifetime of Isaac was one hundred and eighty years;
29 E morreu. A morte reuniu-o aos seus, velho e saciado de dias. Esaú e Jacó, seus filhos, sepultaram-no.	29 then he breathed his last. After a full life, he died as an old man and was taken to his kinsmen. His sons Esau and Jacob buried him.
