Geremia 8

LA SACRA BIBBIA	CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAIN
1 In quel tempo, oracolo del Signore, si estrarranno dai loro sepolcri le ossa di tutti i re di Giuda e le ossa dei suoi prìncipi, le ossa dei sacerdoti e le ossa dei profeti e le ossa degli abitanti di Gerusalemme,	1 “In that time, says the Lord, they will cast out the bones of the kings of Judah, and the bones of its leaders, and the bones of the priests, and the bones of the prophets, and the bones of those who were living in Jerusalem, from their graves.
2 e saranno esposte al sole e alla luna e a tutto l'esercito celeste che hanno prediletto e che hanno servito, ai quali sono andati dietro e che hanno consultato e ai quali si sono prostrati; non saranno raccolte né saranno seppellite, ma saranno come letame sulla superficie della terra.	2 And they will spread them out before the sun and the moon and the entire army of the heavens, which they have loved, and served, and followed, and which they have sought and adored. They will not be collected, and they will not be buried. They will be like manure upon the face of the earth.
3 Allora sarà preferibile la morte alla vita per tutto il resto che sopravvivrà di questa malvagia famiglia in ogni luogo dove li avrò dispersi, oracolo del Signore degli eserciti.	3 And they will greatly prefer death to life: all those who will have been left from this wicked kindred, in all the forsaken places to which I will cast them out, says the Lord of hosts.
4 Dunque dirai loro: "Così dice il Signore: Chi cade, forse che non si rialza? O chi si svia, forse non ritorna?	4 And you will say to them: Thus says the Lord: He who falls, will he not rise again? And he who has been turned away, will he not return?
5 Perché s'è sviato questo popolo, Gerusalemme, con una ribellione perpetua? Sono attaccati all'inganno, rifiutano di ritrarsi indietro.	5 Then why have this people in Jerusalem turned away with a contentious loathing? They have taken hold of what is false, and they are not willing to return.
6 Ho prestato attenzione e ho ascoltato: non parlano rettamente; nessuno si pente della sua malvagità, dicendo: "Cosa abbiamo fatto?". Ognuno torna alla propria corsa, qual cavallo lanciato alla battaglia!	6 I paid close attention and I listened carefully. No one is speaking what is good. There is no one who does penance for his sin, saying: ‘What have I done?’ They have all turned to their own course, like a horse rushing with fury into battle.
7 Perfino la cicogna nel cielo conosce i tempi suoi, e la colomba, la rondine e la gru osservano il tempo del loro ritorno; ma il popolo mio non conosce il giudizio del Signore!	7 The hawk in the heavens has known her time. The turtledove, and the swallow, and the stork have kept the time of their arrival. But my people have not known the judgment of the Lord.
8 Come potete dire: "Noi siamo saggi e la legge del Signore è con noi"? Certo, ecco: a menzogna l'ha ridotta la penna menzognera degli scribi.	8 How can you say: ‘We are wise, and the law of the Lord is with us?’ Truly, the lying pen of the scribes has wrought falsehood.
9 Saranno svergognati i saggi, sconcertati e intrappolati. Ecco: la parola del Signore han rigettato: che cosa è, dunque, sapienza per loro?	9 The wise men have been confounded; they were terrified and captured. For they cast aside the word of the Lord, and there is no wisdom in them.
10 Per questo consegnerò le loro donne a stranieri, i loro campi ai conquistatori, perché dal piccolo al grande tutti essi compiono frode; dal profeta al sacerdote, tutti essi praticano la menzogna.	10 Because of this, I will give their wives to outsiders and their fields to others as an inheritance. For from the least, even to the greatest, they all pursue avarice; from the prophet, even to the priest, they all act with deceit.
11 Essi curano la ferita del mio popolo alla leggera. Dicono: "Salute, salute", ma salute non c'è.	11 And they healed the destruction of the daughter of my people with disgrace, by saying: ‘Peace, peace,’ though there was no peace.
12 Arrossiscano, perché compiono abominazioni! Di nessuna onta arrossiscono più né sanno più vergognarsi! Per questo cadranno tra coloro che cadono, saranno prostrati quando io li visiterò. Oracolo del Signore.	12 They have been confounded because they committed abomination. Or rather, they have not been confounded with shame, for they do not know how to blush. For this reason, they will fall among the fallen. In the time of their visitation, they will fall, says the Lord.
13 Vorrei raccogliere il loro raccolto, oracolo del Signore, ma non c'è uva nella vigna e non ci sono fichi sulla ficaia; anche il fogliame è avvizzito! Ho procurato loro, quindi, chi li calpesti!".	13 When gathering, I will gather them together, says the Lord. There are no grapes on the vine, and there are no figs on the fig tree. The leaves have fallen. And I have given them the things that have passed away.”
14 "Perché ce ne stiamo seduti? Radunatevi ed entriamo nelle città fortificate e ivi saremo distrutti: tanto il Signore, Dio nostro, ci vuole distruggere e farci bere acque avvelenate perché abbiamo peccato contro il Signore!	14 “Why are we sitting still? Assemble, and let us enter the fortified city, and let us remain silent there. For the Lord our God has brought us to silence, and he has given us the water of gall as a drink. For we have sinned against the Lord.
15 Aspettavamo la salvezza, ma senza profitto; il tempo della guarigione ed ecco il terrore".	15 We expected peace, but there was nothing good. We expected a time of health, and behold, dread.”
16 Da Dan si ode lo sbuffare dei suoi cavalli; per lo strepito dei nitriti dei suoi stalloni trema tutto il paese; arrivano e divorano il paese e quanto contiene, la città e i suoi abitanti.	16 “From Dan, the snorting of his horses was heard; the entire land was shaken by the voice of the neighing of his fighters. And they arrived and devoured the land and its plenitude, the city and its inhabitants.
17 "Sì, eccomi a mandare contro di voi serpenti velenosi contro i quali non avete incantesimo, cosicché vi morderanno". Oracolo del Signore.	17 For behold, I will send among you serpents, king snakes, against which there is no charm, and they will bite you, says the Lord.
18 Senza rimedio cresce il dolore, dentro di me il mio cuore languisce.	18 My sorrow is beyond sorrow; my heart mourns within me.
19 Ecco un clamore: è il grido della figlia del mio popolo da terra di vasta estensione! "Forse che il Signore non sta in Sion, ovvero il suo re non è in essa?". Perché mi hanno irritato con i loro idoli con nullità straniere?	19 Behold, the voice of the daughter of my people from a far away land. Is the Lord not with Zion, and is her king not within her? Then why have they provoked me to wrath by their graven images, and by their strange vanities?
20 E' passata la mietitura, terminata l'estate, e noi non siamo stati salvati.	20 The harvest has passed by, the summer is at an end, and we have not been saved.
21 Per la ferita della figlia del mio popolo sono ferito, sono costernato, lo spavento mi afferra.	21 Over the destruction of the daughter of my people, I am contrite and saddened; astonishment has taken hold of me.
22 Non c'è più balsamo in Gàlaad? non c'è più ivi alcun medico? Perché, allora, non migliora la ferita della figlia del mio popolo?	22 Is there no balm in Gilead? Or is there no physician there? Then why has the wound of the daughter of my people not been closed?”
23 Chi renderà la mia testa una fonte e i miei occhi una sorgente di lacrime, perché io pianga giorno e notte gli uccisi della figlia del popolo mio?
