Ephesians 1

1 Paul, an Apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, to all the saints who are at Ephesus and to the faithful in Christ Jesus.	1 Lettre de Paul, apôtre du Christ Jésus par décision de Dieu, aux saints qui vivent (à Éphèse), à tous ceux qui ont la foi chrétienne
2 Grace and peace to you from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.	2 Recevez grâce et paix de Dieu notre Père et du Christ Jésus le Seigneur.
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavens, in Christ,	3 Béni soit Dieu, le Père du Christ Jésus notre Seigneur! Oui, il nous a donné dans les cieux, dans le Christ, toute bénédiction spirituelle.
4 just as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, so that we would be holy and immaculate in his sight, in charity.	4 En lui il nous a choisis avant la création du monde pour être devant lui saints et sans tache. Par amour
5 He has predestined us to adoption as sons, through Jesus Christ, in himself, according to the purpose of his will,	5 il décidait dès ce moment qu’il ferait de nous ses fils par Jésus Christ et pour lui. Tel a été son vouloir et son bon plaisir,
6 for the praise of the glory of his grace, with which he has gifted us in his beloved Son.	6 afin que soit louée et glorifiée sa grâce, ce don qu’il nous faisait dans le Bien-Aimé.
7 In him, we have redemption through his blood: the remission of sins in accord with the riches of his grace,	7 Rachetés par son sang, nous avons en lui le pardon de nos fautes, à la mesure même de la richesse de sa grâce,
8 which is superabundant in us, with all wisdom and prudence.	8 car elle a débordé sur nous. Ses dons de sagesse, d’intelligence,
9 So does he make known to us the mystery of his will, which he has set forth in Christ, in a manner well-pleasing to him,	9 nous ont fait connaître sa décision mystérieuse, cet amour pour nous qu’il a déposé dans le Christ.
10 in the dispensation of the fullness of time, so as to renew in Christ everything that exists through him in heaven and on earth.	10 En lui Dieu voulait réunir sous une seule tête, quand le temps serait accompli, tout ce qui est au ciel et ce qui est sur terre.
11 In him, we too are called to our portion, having been predestined in accord with the plan of the One who accomplishes all things by the counsel of his will.	11 C’est ainsi qu’en lui nous avons été choisis; Celui qui agit en tout selon sa libre volonté, avait en effet décidé de nous mettre à part.
12 So may we be, to the praise of his glory, we who have hoped beforehand in Christ.	12 Nous devions porter cette attente du Messie, pour qu’en résulte à la fin la louange de sa gloire.
13 In him, you also, after you heard and believed the Word of truth, which is the Gospel of your salvation, were sealed with the Holy Spirit of the Promise.	13 Vous aussi, après avoir entendu la parole de vérité, l’Évangile qui vous sauve, vous avez cru en lui; en lui vous avez été marqués de l’Esprit Saint, cela même qu’il promettait.
14 He is the pledge of our inheritance, unto the acquisition of redemption, to the praise of his glory.	14 C’est là le premier acompte de notre héritage, dans l’attente d’une délivrance pour le peuple que Dieu s’est donné pour sa louange et pour sa gloire.
15 Because of this, and hearing of your faith that is in the Lord Jesus, and of your love toward all the saints,	15 On m’a dit comment, dans le Christ Jésus, vous vivez la foi et l’amour pour tous les saints, (pour nos frères).
16 I have not ceased giving thanks for you, calling you to mind in my prayers,	16 Aussi je vous tiens présents dans mes prières et sans cesse je rends grâce pour vous.
17 so that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give a spirit of wisdom and of revelation to you, in knowledge of him.	17 Que le Dieu de Jésus Christ, notre Seigneur, le Père qui est dans la Gloire, se révèle à vous et vous donne un esprit de sagesse pour le connaître en vérité.
18 May the eyes of your heart be illuminated, so that you may know what is the hope of his calling, and the wealth of the glory of his inheritance with the saints,	18 Qu’il illumine le regard de votre cœur! Vous saurez alors quelle espérance s’offre à vous à la suite de son appel, et quel riche héritage, quelle gloire il a réservée à ses saints,
19 and the preeminent magnitude of his virtue toward us, toward we who believe in accord with the work of his powerful virtue,	19 et quelle force extraordinaire il met en œuvre pour nous qui croyons. C’est la même énergie toute-puissante
20 which he wrought in Christ, raising him from the dead and establishing him at his right hand in the heavens,	20 qui a agi dans le Christ quand il l’a ressuscité d’entre les morts et l’a fait siéger à sa droite dans le monde d’en-haut.
21 above every principality and power and virtue and dominion, and above every name that is given, not only in this age, but even in the future age.	21 Il y est plus haut que toute Principauté, Autorité, Majesté ou Puissance (angéliques), au dessus de tout ce qui compte dans ce monde et dans l’autre.
22 And he has subjected all things under his feet, and he has made him the head over the entire Church,	22 Dieu a tout mis sous ses pieds, et a fait de lui, de façon spéciale, la tête de l’Église.
23 which is his body and which is the fullness of him who accomplishes everything in everyone.	23 Elle est son corps, et en elle se déploie pleinement celui qui est tout en tous.
