John 14

1 “Do not let your heart be troubled. You believe in God. Believe in me also.	1 "Que votre coeur ne se trouble pas! vous croyez en Dieu, croyez aussi en moi.
2 In my Father’s house, there are many dwelling places. If there were not, I would have told you. For I go to prepare a place for you.	2 Dans la maison de mon Père, il y a de nombreuses demeures; sinon, je vous l'aurais dit; je vais vouspréparer une place.
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will return again, and then I will take you to myself, so that where I am, you also may be.	3 Et quand je serai allé et que je vous aurai préparé une place, à nouveau je viendrai et je vous prendraiprès de moi, afin que, là où je suis, vous aussi, vous soyez.
4 And you know where I am going. And you know the way.”	4 Et du lieu où je vais, vous savez le chemin."
5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going, so how can we know the way?”	5 Thomas lui dit: "Seigneur, nous ne savons pas où tu vas. Comment saurions-nous le chemin?"
6 Jesus said to him: “I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.	6 Jésus lui dit: "Je suis le Chemin, la Vérité et la Vie. Nul ne vient au Père que par moi.
7 If you had known me, certainly you would also have known my Father. And from now on, you shall know him, and you have seen him.”	7 Si vous me connaissez, vous connaîtrez aussi mon Père; dès à présent vous le connaissez et vousl'avez vu."
8 Philip said to him, “Lord, reveal the Father to us, and it is enough for us.”	8 Philippe lui dit: "Seigneur, montre-nous le Père et cela nous suffit."
9 Jesus said to him: “Have I been with you for so long, and you have not known me? Philip, whoever sees me, also sees the Father. How can you say, ‘Reveal the Father to us?’	9 Jésus lui dit: "Voilà si longtemps que je suis avec vous, et tu ne me connais pas, Philippe? Qui m'a vua vu le Père. Comment peux-tu dire: Montre-nous le Père!?
10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I am speaking to you, I do not speak from myself. But the Father abiding in me, he does these works.	10 Ne crois-tu pas que je suis dans le Père et que le Père est en moi? Les paroles que je vous dis, je neles dis pas de moi-même: mais le Père demeurant en moi fait ses oeuvres.
11 Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me?	11 Croyez-m'en! je suis dans le Père et le Père est en moi. Croyez du moins à cause des oeuvres mêmes.
12 Or else, believe because of these same works. Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever believes in me shall also do the works that I do. And greater things than these shall he do, for I go to the Father.	12 En vérité, en vérité, je vous le dis, celui qui croit en moi fera, lui aussi, les oeuvres que je fais; et ilen fera même de plus grandes, parce que je vais vers le Père.
13 And whatever you shall ask the Father in my name, that I will do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.	13 Et tout ce que vous demanderez en mon nom, je le ferai, afin que le Père soit glorifié dans le Fils.
14 If you shall ask anything of me in my name, that I will do.	14 Si vous me demandez quelque chose en mon nom, je le ferai.
15 If you love me, keep my commandments.	15 Si vous m'aimez, vous garderez mes commandements;
16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give another Advocate to you, so that he may abide with you for eternity:	16 et je prierai le Père et il vous donnera un autre Paraclet, pour qu'il soit avec vous à jamais,
17 the Spirit of Truth, whom the world is not able to accept, because it neither perceives him nor knows him. But you shall know him. For he will remain with you, and he will be in you.	17 l'Esprit de Vérité, que le monde ne peut pas recevoir, parce qu'il ne le voit pas ni ne le reconnaît.Vous, vous le connaissez, parce qu'il demeure auprès de vous.
18 I will not leave you orphans. I will return to you.	18 Je ne vous laisserai pas orphelins. Je viendrai vers vous.
19 Yet a little while and the world will not see me any longer. But you will see me. For I live, and you shall live.	19 Encore un peu de temps et le monde ne me verra plus. Mais vous, vous verrez que je vis et vousaussi, vous vivrez.
20 In that day, you shall know that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.	20 Ce jour-là, vous reconnaîtrez que je suis en mon Père et vous en moi et moi en vous.
21 Whoever holds to my commandments and keeps them: it is he who loves me. And whoever loves me shall be loved by my Father. And I will love him, and I will manifest myself to him.”	21 Celui qui a mes commandements et qui les garde, c'est celui-là qui m'aime; or celui qui m'aime seraaimé de mon Père; et je l'aimerai et je me manifesterai à lui."
22 Judas, not the Iscariot, said to him: “Lord, how does it happen that you will manifest yourself to us and not to the world?”	22 Judas - pas l'Iscariote - lui dit: "Seigneur, et qu'est-il advenu, que tu doives te manifester à nous etnon pas au monde?"
23 Jesus responded and said to him: “If anyone loves me, he shall keep my word. And my Father will love him, and we will come to him, and we will make our dwelling place with him.	23 Jésus lui répondit: "Si quelqu'un m'aime, il gardera ma parole, et mon Père l'aimera et nousviendrons vers lui et nous nous ferons une demeure chez lui.
24 Whoever does not love me, does not keep not my words. And the word that you have heard is not of me, but it is of the Father who sent me.	24 Celui qui ne m'aime pas ne garde pas mes paroles; et la parole que vous entendez n'est pas de moi,mais du Père qui m'a envoyé.
25 These things I have spoken to you, while abiding with you.	25 Je vous ai dit cela tandis que je demeurais près de vous.
26 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will suggest to you everything whatsoever that I have said to you.	26 Mais le Paraclet, l'Esprit Saint, que le Père enverra en mon nom, lui, vous enseignera tout et vousrappellera tout ce que je vous ai dit.
27 Peace I leave for you; my Peace I give to you. Not in the way that the world gives, do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, and let it not fear.	27 Je vous laisse la paix; c'est ma paix que je vous donne; je ne vous la donne pas comme le monde ladonne. Que votre coeur ne se trouble ni ne s'effraie.
28 You have heard that I said to you: I am going away, and I am returning to you. If you loved me, certainly you would be gladdened, because I am going to the Father. For the Father is greater than I.	28 Vous avez entendu que je vous ai dit: Je m'en vais et je reviendrai vers vous. Si vous m'aimiez, vousvous réjouiriez de ce que je vais vers le Père, parce que le Père est plus grand que moi.
29 And now I have told you this, before it happens, so that, when it will happen, you may believe.	29 Je vous le dis maintenant avant que cela n'arrive, pour qu'au moment où cela arrivera, vous croyiez.
30 I will not now speak at length with you. For the prince of this world is coming, but he does not have anything in me.	30 Je ne m'entretiendrai plus beaucoup avec vous, car il vient, le Prince de ce monde; sur moi il n'aaucun pouvoir,
31 Yet this is so that the world may know that I love the Father, and that I am acting according to the commandment that the Father has given to me. Rise up, let us go from here.”	31 mais il faut que le monde reconnaisse que j'aime le Père et que je fais comme le Père m'a commandé.Levez-vous! Partons d'ici!
