1 In that day, Jesus, departing from the house, sat down beside the sea.	1 - In quel giorno Gesù, uscito di casa, sedette lungo la riva del mare;
2 And such great crowds were gathered to him that he climbed into a boat and he sat down. And the entire multitude stood on the shore.	2 subito molta folla si radunò attorno a lui; tanto che, entrato in una barca, vi si pose a sedere, mentre la folla stava sulla riva.
3 And he spoke many things to them in parables, saying: “Behold, a sower went out to sow seed.	3 E raccontò loro parecchie cose in parabole.«Un seminatore, uscì a seminare.
4 And while he was sowing, some fell beside the road, and the birds of the air came and ate it.	4 E nel seminare, una parte del seme cadde lungo la strada e vennero gli uccelli dell'aria e lo beccarono.
5 Then others fell in a rocky place, where they did not have much soil. And they sprung up promptly, because they had no depth of soil.	5 Parte cadde in luoghi sassosi ove non era molta terra e subito spuntò perchè la terra non era molto fredda;
6 But when the sun rose up, they were scorched, and because they had no roots, they withered.	6 ma, levatosi il sole, fu riarsa e, non avendo radice, si seccò.
7 Still others fell among thorns, and the thorns increased and suffocated them.	7 E un'altra cadde tra le spine e le spine crebbero e la soffocarono.
8 Yet some others fell upon good soil, and they produced fruit: some one hundred fold, some sixty fold, some thirty fold.	8 Un'altra finalmente cadde nella terra soffice e diede frutto, dove il cento, dove il sessanta e dove il trenta.
9 Whoever has ears to hear, let him hear.”	9 Chi ha orecchi da intendere, intenda».
10 And his disciples drew near to him and said, “Why do you speak to them in parables?”	10 Allora i suoi discepoli, accostatisi, gli chiesero: «Perchè parli loro in parabole?».
11 Responding, he said to them: “Because it has been given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but it has not been given to them.	11 Egli rispose loro: «Perchè a voi è dato di conoscere i misteri del regno de' cieli; ad essi invece non è dato.
12 For whoever has, it shall be given to him, and he shall have in abundance. But whoever has not, even what he has shall be taken away from him.	12 Infatti a chiunque ha, sarà dato e sarà nell'abbondanza; ma a chiunque non ha, sarà tolto anche quello che ha.
13 For this reason, I speak to them in parables: because seeing, they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand.	13 Per questo parlo loro in parabole; poichè vedendo non vedano, e udendo non odano e non intendano.
14 And so, in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah, who said, ‘Hearing, you shall hear, but not understand; and seeing, you shall see, but not perceive.	14 E si adempia in essi la profezia di Isaia, che dice:" Voi udrete con le vostre orecchie e non intenderete; guarderete coi vostri occhi e non vedrete.
15 For the heart of this people has grown fat, and with their ears they hear heavily, and they have closed their eyes, lest at any time they might see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and be converted, and then I would heal them.’	15 Perchè il cuore di questo popolo è diventato insensibile; son diventati duri d'orecchi e hanno chiuso i loro occhi affinchè non vedano con gli occhi e non ascoltino con gli orecchi e non intendano col cuore, e non si convertano, ed io non li guarisca ".
16 But blessed are your eyes, because they see, and your ears, because they hear.	16 Ma, in quanto a voi, beati gli occhi vostri perchè vedono, e i vostri orecchi perchè odono!
17 Amen I say to you, certainly, that many of the prophets and the just desired to see what you see, and yet they did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and yet they did not hear it.	17 In verità vi dico che molti profeti e giusti han desiderato di vedere le cose che voi vedete e non l'han viste; di udire ciò che voi udite e non l'hanno udito.
18 Listen, then, to the parable of the sower.	18 Voi dunque sentite un po' cosa significhi la parabola del seminatore.
19 With anyone who hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, evil comes and carries away what was sown in his heart. This is he who received the seed by the side of the road.	19 Quando uno ode la parola del regno e non vi pon mente, viene il maligno e porta via quello ch'è stato seminato nel cuore di lui; questi è l'uomo che ha ricevuto la semente caduta lungo la strada.
20 Then whoever has received the seed upon a rocky place, this is one who hears the word and promptly accepts it with joy.	20 Il seme caduto in luoghi sassosi vuol dire colui che ode la parola e subito la riceve con intima allegrezza;
21 But he has no root in himself, so it is only for a time; then, when tribulation and persecution occur because of the word, he promptly stumbles.	21 però non ha in sè radice, essendo incostante; e quando sopraggiunge la tribolazione o la persecuzione a cagion della parola, subito si scandalizza.
22 And whoever has received the seed among thorns, this is he who hears the word, but the cares of this age and the falseness of riches suffocate the word, and he is effectively without fruit.	22 Il seme caduto tra le spine vuol dire colui che ode la parola, ma le sollecitudini del tempo presente e la seduzione delle ricchezze soffocano la parola, tanto ch'essa resta infruttuosa.
23 Yet truly, whoever has received the seed into good soil, this is he who hears the word, and understands it, and so he bears fruit, and he produces: some a hundred fold, and another sixty fold, and another thirty fold.”	23 Il seme poi seminato in buon terreno vuol dire colui che ode la parola e vi pon mente e porta frutto e rende, or il cento, or il sessanta, or il trenta».
24 He proposed another parable to them, saying: “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field.	24 Egli propose loro un'altra parabola, dicendo: «Il regno dei cieli è simile a un uomo che seminò buon seme nel suo campo.
25 But while the men were sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds amid the wheat, and then went away.	25 Ma intanto che gli uomini dormivano, venne il suo nemico e seminò della zizzania in mezzo al frumento e se ne andò.
26 And when the plants had grown, and had produced fruit, then the weeds also appeared.	26 Quando l'erba nacque e fece frutto, comparve anche la zizzania.
27 So the servants of the Father of the family, approaching, said to him: ‘Lord, did you not sow good seed in your field? Then how is it that it has weeds?’	27 I servi del padrone di casa vennero a raccontargli la cosa: - Signore, non hai tu seminato buon seme nel tuo campo? Com'è dunque che c'è della zizzania? -
28 And he said to them, ‘A man who is an enemy has done this.’ So the servants said to him, ‘Is it your will that we should go and gather them up?’	28 Egli rispose loro: - Un uomo nemico ha fatto questo. - Ripresero i servi: - Vuoi dunque che andiamo a raccoglierla? -
29 And he said: ‘No, lest perhaps in gathering the weeds, you might also root out the wheat together with it.	29 - No, - rispose loro - affinchè raccogliendo la zizzania, non strappiate, per avventura, anche il frumento.
30 Permit both to grow until the harvest, and at the time of the harvest, I will say to the reapers: Gather first the weeds, and bind them into bundles to burn, but the wheat gather into my storehouse.’ ”	30 Lasciateli crescere insieme, l'uno e l'altra, fino a mietitura: al tempo della raccolta dirò ai mietitori: "Estirpate prima la zizzania e legatela in fasci per bruciarla; il frumento invece ponetelo nel mio granaio" -».
31 He proposed another parable to them, saying: “The kingdom of heaven is like a grain of mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field.	31 Un'altra parabola propose loro dicendo: «Il regno dei cieli è simile a un granellino di senapa, che un uomo prende e semina nel campo;
32 It is, indeed, the least of all seeds, but when it has grown, it is greater than all the plants, and it becomes a tree, so much so that the birds of the air come and dwell in its branches.”	32 esso è il più piccolo di tutti i semi, ma quand'è cresciuto è più grande di tutti gli erbaggi e si fa un albero; tanto che gli uccelli del cielo vengon a riposarsi tra i suoi rami».
33 He spoke another parable to them: “The kingdom of heaven is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of fine wheat flour, until it was entirely leavened.”	33 E raccontò anche quest'altra parabola: «Il regno dei cieli è simile al lievito, che una donna prende e rimescola in tre staia di farina, finchè tutta la massa lievita».
34 All these things Jesus spoke in parables to the crowds. And he did not speak to them apart from parables,	34 Gesù disse alla folla tutte queste cose in parabole e senza parabole non raccontava nulla,
35 in order to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet, saying: “I will open my mouth in parables. I will proclaim what has been hidden since the foundation of the world.”	35 perchè si adempisse quant'era stato detto dal profeta: «Aprirò la mia bocca in parabole: manifesterò cose nascoste fin dalla fondazione del mondo».
36 Then, dismissing the crowds, he went into the house. And his disciples drew near to him, saying, “Explain to us the parable of the weeds in the field.”	36 Allora Gesù, congedate le turbe, tornò in casa, e i suoi discepoli gli s'accostarono, dicendo: «Spiegaci la parabola della zizzania del campo».
37 Responding, he said to them: “He who sows the good seed is the Son of man.	37 Egli rispose loro: «Colui che semina il buon seme è il Figliuol dell'uomo;
38 Now the field is the world. And the good seeds are the sons of the kingdom. But the weeds are the sons of wickedness.	38 il campo è il mondo; il buon seme sono i figli del Regno; la zizzania sono i figli del maligno;
39 So the enemy who sowed them is the devil. And truly, the harvest is the consummation of the age; while the reapers are the Angels.	39 il nemico che l'ha seminata è il diavolo; la mietitura è la fine del tempo presente e i mietitori son gli angeli.
40 Therefore, just as weeds are gathered up and burned with fire, so shall it be at the consummation of the age.	40 Come dunque si raccoglie la zizzania e la si brucia nel fuoco, così succederà alla fine del mondo.
41 The Son of man shall send out his Angels, and they shall gather from his kingdom all who lead astray and those who work iniquity.	41 Il figliuol dell'uomo manderà i suoi angeli a toglier dal suo regno tutti gli scandali e tutti gli operatori d'iniquità
42 And he shall cast them into the furnace of fire, where there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.	42 per gettarli nella fornace ardente, dove sarà pianto e stridor di denti.
43 Then the just ones shall shine like the sun, in the kingdom of their Father. Whoever has ears to hear, let him hear.	43 Allora i giusti risplenderanno come il sole nel regno del Padre loro. Chi ha orecchi da intendere, intenda.
44 The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in a field. When a man finds it, he hides it, and, because of his joy, he goes and sells everything that he has, and he buys that field.	44 Il regno de' cieli è simile a un tesoro nascosto nel campo; l'uomo che l'ha trovato, lo nasconde di nuovo e, tutto contento va, vende quanto ha e compra quel campo.
45 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking good pearls.	45 Il regno de' cieli è ancora simile a un mercante che va in cerca di belle perle;
46 Having found one pearl of great value, he went away and sold all that he had, and he bought it.	46 e, trovata una margarita di gran pregio, va, vende quanto ha e la compra.
47 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net cast into the sea, which gathers together all kinds of fish.	47 Il regno de' cieli è ancora simile a una rete calata in mare e che ha preso ogni sorta di pesci.
48 When it has been filled, drawing it out and sitting beside the shore, they selected the good into vessels, but the bad they threw away.	48 Quando è colma, i pescatori la traggono alla riva e postisi a sedere, metton da parte i buoni nei canestri, e i cattivi li buttan via.
49 So shall it be at the consummation of the age. The Angels shall go forth and separate the bad from the midst of the just.	49 Così succederà alla fin del mondo; verranno gli angeli a separare i cattivi di mezzo ai buoni,
50 And they shall cast them into the furnace of fire, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.	50 per gettarli nella fornace di fuoco: dove sarà pianto e stridor di denti.
51 Have you understood all these things?” They say to him, “Yes.”	51 Avete inteso tutte queste cose?». «Sì», risposero essi.
52 He said to them, “Therefore, every scribe well-taught about the kingdom of heaven, is like a man, the father of a family, who offers from his storehouse both the new and the old.”	52 Ed egli aggiunse: «Per questo ogni scriba, istruito in ciò che riguarda il regno de' cieli, è simile a un padre di famiglia, il quale cava fuori dal suo tesoro cose nuove e cose vecchie».
53 And it happened that, when Jesus had completed these parables, he went away from there.	53 Gesù, finito di raccontar queste parabole, se ne andò.
54 And arriving in his own country, he taught them in their synagogues, so much so that they wondered and said: “How can such wisdom and power be with this one?	54 E recatosi nella sua patria, insegnava in quella sinagoga, talchè la gente stupiva e diceva: «Donde ha costui tanta sapienza e questi miracoli?
55 Is this not the son of a workman? Is not his mother called Mary, and his brothers, James, and Joseph, and Simon, and Jude?	55 Non è egli il figlio del legnaiuolo? E sua madre non si chiama Maria? E i suoi fratelli, Giacomo, Giuseppe, Simone e Giuda?
56 And his sisters, are they not all with us? Therefore, from where has this one obtained all these things?”	56 E le sue sorelle non son tutte fra noi? Donde sono venute a lui tutte queste cose?».
57 And they took offense at him. But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor, except in his own country and in his own house.”	57 E si scandalizzavano di lui. Ma Gesù disse loro: «Un profeta non è sprezzato che nella sua patria e nella sua casa».
58 And he did not work many miracles there, because of their unbelief.	58 E non fece colà molti miracoli a motivo della loro incredulità.
