Psalms 72

1 A Psalm of Asaph. How good is God to Israel, to those who are upright in heart.	1 (Vennero meno le laude ovver li inni di David figliuolo di Iesse,) salmo di Asaf. Come è buono l'Iddio d'Israel a' dritti di cuore!
2 But my feet were nearly moved; my steps had nearly slipped.	2 Ma a pena sono mossi li miei piedi; quas? sono sparti li miei sentieri.
3 For I was zealous over the iniquitous, seeing the peacefulness of sinners.	3 Per che feimi molesto sopra gl' iniqui, vedendo la pace de' peccatori.
4 For they have no respect for their death, nor do they have support in their wounds.	4 Però [che] non è rispetto alla loro morte, e firmamento in loro piaghe.
5 They are not with the hardships of men, nor will they be scourged with men.	5 Non sono nella fatica delli uomini; e con li uomini non saranno flagellati.
6 Therefore, arrogance has held on to them. They have been covered with their iniquity and impiety.	6 Però halli tenuti la superbia; sono coperti colla iniquità ed empietà sua.
7 Their iniquity has proceeded, as if from fat. They have parted from the affection of the heart.	7 Loro iniquità apparse come da grassezza, andanti nel desiderio del cuore.
8 They have thought and spoken wickedness. They have spoken iniquity in high places.	8 Pensorono la nequizia, e hanno parlato; hanno detta la iniquità contra l'eccelso.
9 They have set their mouth against heaven, and their tongue has traversed the earth.	9 In cielo hanno posto la sua bocca; e loro lingua passata è in terra.
10 Therefore, my people will be converted here, and fullness of days will be found in them.	10 Però sarà convertito il mio popolo quivi; e in loro ritroveransi li giorni pieni.
11 And they said, “How would God know?” and, “Isn’t there knowledge in high places?”	11 E dissero come il sa Iddio? e s'egli è scienza nell' eccelso?
12 Behold, these are sinners, and, abounding in this age, they have obtained riches.	12 Ecco che li peccatori, e abbondanti nel mondo, hanno conseguito le ricchezze.
13 And I said: So then, it is without purpose that I have justified my heart and washed my hands among the innocent.	13 E dissi adunque senza cagione giustificai il cuore mio, e tra li innocenti lavai le mani mie;
14 And I have been scourged all day long, and I have received my chastisement in the mornings.	14 e fui flagellato tutto il giorno, e la mia castigazione fu nel mattino.
15 If I were to say that I would explain this: Behold, I would condemn this nation of your sons.	15 E se io dico: vi racconterò così; ecco che riprovai la nazione de' tuoi figliuoli.
16 I considered, so that I might know this. It is a hardship before me,	16 E credeva di conoscere; questa fatica è dinanzi a me,
17 until I may enter into the Sanctuary of God, and understand it to its last part.	17 insino ch' io entri nel santuario di Dio, e ch' io intenda nelle loro fini.
18 So, because of deceitfulness, truly, you have placed it before them. While they were being lifted up, you were casting them down.	18 E però a loro ponesti per inganno; scancellastili mentre che si alzavano.
19 How have they been brought to desolation? They have suddenly failed. They have perished because of their iniquity.	19 Come sono fatti in desolazione, sùbito vennero meno; e' perirono per la sua iniquità.
20 As a dream is to those who awaken, O Lord, so will you reduce their image to nothing in your city.	20 Il Signore riducerà a niente loro imagine nella sua città, come sogno di risveglianti.
21 For my heart has been inflamed, and my temperament has been changed.	21 Per che inflammato è il cuore mio, e commutate sono le mie reni;
22 And so, I have been reduced to nothing, and I did not know it.	22 e io son ridotto a niente, e nol seppi.
23 I have become like a beast of burden to you, and I am always with you.	23 Come giumento appresso di te fatto sono; e io son sempre teco.
24 You have held my right hand. And in your will, you have conducted me, and with your glory, you have taken me up.	24 Tenesti la mano mia destra; e ha'mi menato nella tua volontà, e con gloria ricevuto.
25 For what is there for me in heaven? And what do I wish for on earth before you?	25 Certo che cosa è [a me] in cielo? e da te che ho vogliuto sopra la terra?
26 My body has failed, and my heart: O God of my heart, and God my portion, into eternity.	26 Venuta è meno la mia carne e il mio cuore, sei Iddio del mio cuore, e mio padre, o Iddio, in eterno.
27 For behold, those who put themselves far from you will perish. You have perished all those who fornicate away from you.	27 Per che ecco che chi s'allungano da te periranno; hai distrutto tutti quelli che fanno fornica'zione contra di te.
28 But it is good for me to adhere to God, to put my hope in the Lord God, so that I may announce all your prophecies, at the gates of the daughter of Zion.	28 Ma a me è buono accostarmi a Dio; ponerò la mia speranza nel Signore Iddio mio, acciò ch' io annunzii le tue predicazioni, nelle porte della figliuola di Sion.
