1 And Israel, setting out with all that he had, arrived at the Well of the Oath. And sacrificing victims there to the God of his father Isaac,	1 Partissi Israel con ogni cosa ch' egli avea, e venne al pozzo del giuramento; e fatti quivi i sa crificii a Dio del padre suo Isaac,
2 he heard him, by a vision in the night, calling him, and saying to him: “Jacob, Jacob.” And he answered him, “Behold, here I am.”	2 udì per la visione della notte, chiamando lui, e dicendo a lui: Iacob, Iacob. Il quale respuose: ecco ch' io sono presente.
3 God said to him: “I am the most strong God of your father. Do not be afraid. Descend into Egypt, for there I will make of you a great nation.	3 Disse a lui Dio: io sono fortissimo Iddio del padre tuo; non temere, e va in Egitto, imperciò che in grande gente farò quivi te.
4 I will descend with you to that place, and I will lead you back from there, returning. Also, Joseph will place his hands over your eyes.	4 Io verrò teco colà, ed io di quindi adducerò te ritornante; e Iosef porrà la mano sua sopra li occhii tuoi.
5 Then Jacob rose up from the Well of the Oath. And his sons took him, with their little ones and wives, in the wagons that Pharaoh had sent to carry the old man,	5 Levossi Iacob del pozzo del giuramento; e menarono lui li figliuoli suoi, con li fanciulli e colle mogli loro, nelle ceste che avea mandate Faraone a portare lo vecchio,
6 along with all that he possessed in the land of Canaan. And he arrived in Egypt with all his offspring:	6 e ogni cosa che possedeva nella terra Canaan; e venne in Egitto con ogni suo seme,
7 his sons and his grandsons, his daughters and all his progeny together.	7 e coi figliuoli suoi e nepoti e le figliuole sue, e poi insieme tutta la schiatta.
8 Now these are the names of the sons of Israel, who entered into Egypt, he with his children. The firstborn is Reuben.	8 Ma questi sono i nomi de' figliuoli d'Israel, i quali sono venuti in Egitto, cioè elli coi figliuoli suoi. Lo primogenito si è Ruben.
9 The sons of Reuben: Hanoch and Pallu, and Hezron and Carmi.	9 Li figliuoli di Ruben: Enoc e Fallu, Esron e Carmi.
10 The sons of Simeon: Jemuel and Jamin and Ohad, and Jachin and Zohar, and Shaul, the son of a Canaanite woman.	10 Li figliuoli di Simeon: Gemuel e lamin e Acod e Iachin e Soar e Saul figliuolo di Cananitide.
11 The sons of Levi: Gershon and Kohath, and Merari.	11 Li figliuoli di Levi: Gerson e Caat e Merari.
12 The sons of Judah: Er and Onan, and Shelah, and Perez and Zerah. Now Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan. And sons were born to Perez: Hezron and Hamul.	12 Li figliuoli di Iuda: Er ed Onan e Sela e Fares e Zara; ma morti sono Er ed Onan nella terra Canaan; e nati sono figliuoli di Fares: Esron ed Amul.
13 The sons of Issachar: Tola and Puvah, and Job and Shimron.	13 Li figliuoli di Issacar: Tola e Fua e Iob e Semron.
14 The sons of Zebulun: Sered and Elon and Jahleel.	14 Li figliuoli di Zabulon: Sared ed Elon e Iaelel.
15 These are the sons of Leah, whom she bore, along with his daughter Dinah, in Mesopotamia of Syria. All the souls of her sons and daughters are thirty-three.	15 Questi sono i figliuoli di Lia, li quali gene roe (Iacob) in Mesopotamia di Siria con Dina sua figliuola: tutte l'anime dei figliuoli suoi e delle figliuole sono XXXIII.

17 The sons of Asher: Imnah and Jesua, and Jessui and Beriah, and also their sister Sarah. The sons of Beria: Heber and Malchiel.	17 Li figliuoli d'Aser: Iamne e lesua e lessui e Beria, e ancora Sara loro sorella. Li figliuoli di Beria: Eber e Melchiel.
18 These are the sons of Zilpah, whom Laban gave to his daughter Leah. And these she bore to Jacob: sixteen souls.	18 E questi sono i figliuoli di Zelfa, la quale diede Laban a Lia sua figliuola; e costoro generò Iacob, XVI anime.
19 The sons of Rachel, the wife of Jacob: Joseph and Benjamin.	19 Li figliuoli di Rachel moglie di Iacob: Iosef e Beniamin.
20 And sons were born to Joseph in the land of Egypt, whom Asenath, the daughter of Potiphera, priest of Heliopolis, bore for him: Manasseh and Ephraim.	20 E nati sono a Iosef figliuoli nella terra di Egitto, li quali generò a lui Asenet, la figlia di Pu tifar prete di Eliopoleos: Manasse ed Efraim.
21 The sons of Benjamin: Bela and Becher, and Ashbel and Gera, and Naaman and Ehi, and Rosh and Moppim, and Huppim and Ard.	21 E li figliuoli di Beniamin: Bela e Becor ed Asbel e Gera e Naaman ed Echi e Ros, Mofim e Ofim e Ared.
22 These are the sons of Rachel, whom she bore to Jacob: all these souls are fourteen.	22 E questi sono i figliuoli di Rachel, li quali generò Iacob; tutte l'anime sono XIIII.
23 The sons of Dan: Hushim.	23 Li figliuoli di Dan: Usim.
24 The sons of Naphtali: Jahzeel and Guni, and Jezer and Shillem.	24 Li figliuoli di Neftali: Iasiel e Guni e leser e Sallem.
25 These are the sons of Bilhah, whom Laban gave to his daughter Rachel, and these she bore to Jacob: all these souls are seven.	25 E questi sono i figliuoli di Bala, la quale diede Laban a Rachel sua figliuola; e costoro ge nerò Iacob; tutte l'anime sono sette.
26 All the souls who went into Egypt with Jacob and who went out from his thigh, besides the wives of his sons, were sixty-six.	26 E tutte l'anime che vennero con Iacob in Egitto, ed uscite del fianco suo, sanza le mogli dei figliuoli, sono LXVI.
27 Now the sons of Joseph, who were born to him in the land of Egypt, were two souls. All the souls of the house of Jacob, who went into Egypt, were seventy.	27 Ma i figliuoli di Iosef, i quali sono nati a lui nella terra d'Egitto, sono due anime. Tutte le anime della casa di Iacob, le quali andarono in Egitto, furono LXX.
28 Then he sent Judah ahead of himself, to Joseph, in order to report to him, and so that he would meet him in Goshen.	28 E mandò Iuda, innanzi a sè, a Iosef acciò che nunciasse a lui, e quelli andasse insino a Gessen.
29 And when he had arrived there, Joseph harnessed his chariot, and he went up to meet his father at the same place. And seeing him, he fell upon his neck, and, amid embraces, he wept.	29 Il quale, conciosia cosa che vi fosse perve nuto, giunto Iosef col carro suo, andò incontro al padre suo a quello medesimo luogo; e vedendo lui, gittossi sopra lo collo suo, e nello abbracciamento pianse.
30 And the father said to Joseph, “Now I will die happy, because I have seen your face, and I am leaving you behind alive.”	30 E disse lo padre a Iosef: oggi mai io morrò allegro, perciò ch' io ho veduto la faccia tua.
31 And he said to his brothers and to all his father’s house: “I will go up and report to Pharaoh, and I will say to him: ‘My brothers, and my father’s house, who were in the land of Canaan, have come to me.	31 Quelli favellò a' fratelli suoi e ad ogni casa del padre suo, e disse: io anderò a Faraone, e nun cerogli, e dirò a lui: li fratelli miei e la casa del padre mio, li quali erano nella terra Canaan, sono venuti a me.
32 And these honorable men are pastors of sheep, and they have the task of feeding the flock. Their cattle, and herds, and all that they were able to hold, they have brought with them.’	32 E sono uomini pastori delle pecore, e hanno cura di nutricare le gregge; e le bestie sue e l'armenta, e ogni cosa che poterono avere, arrecarono con loro.
33 And when he will call you and will say, ‘What is your work?’	33 E quando egli chiamerà voi, e dirà a voi: che è lo lavorìo vostro?
34 You will respond, ‘Your servants are pastors of honor, from our infancy even to the present time, both we and our fathers.’ Now you will say this so that you may be able to live in the land of Goshen, because the Egyptians detest all pastors of sheep.”	34 respondete: uomini pastori siamo, tuoi servi, dalla fanciullezza nostra insino al presente, e noi e li padri nostri (a peregrinare nella terra tua siamo venuti). E queste cose direte, acciò che voi possiate abitare nella terra Gessen; imperciò che desprezzano quelli d'Egitto tutti li pastori delle pecore.
