NEW AMERICAN BIBLEDOUAI-RHEIMS
Jesus left the temple area and was going away, when his disciples approached him to point out the temple buildings.1 And Jesus being come out of the temple, went away. And his disciples came to shew him the buildings of the temple.
He said to them in reply, "You see all these things, do you not? Amen, I say to you, there will not be left here a stone upon another stone that will not be thrown down."2 And he answering, said to them: Do you see all these things? Amen I say to you there shall not be left here a stone upon a stone that shall not be destroyed.
As he was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples approached him privately and said, "Tell us, when will this happen, and what sign will there be of your coming, and of the end of the age?"3 And when he was sitting on mount Olivet, the disciples came to him privately, saying: Tell us when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the consummation of the world?
Jesus said to them in reply, "See that no one deceives you.4 And Jesus answering, said to them: Take heed that no man seduce you:
For many will come in my name, saying, 'I am the Messiah,' and they will deceive many.5 For many will come in my name saying, I am Christ: and they will seduce many.
You will hear of wars and reports of wars; see that you are not alarmed, for these things must happen, but it will not yet be the end.6 And you shall hear of wars and rumours of wars. See that ye be not troubled. For these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; there will be famines and earthquakes from place to place.7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there shall be pestilences, and famines, and earthquakes in places:
All these are the beginning of the labor pains.8 Now all these are the beginnings of sorrows.
Then they will hand you over to persecution, and they will kill you. You will be hated by all nations because of my name.9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall put you to death: and you shall be hated by all nations for my name's sake.
And then many will be led into sin; they will betray and hate one another.10 And then shall many be scandalized: and shall betray one another: and shall hate one another.
Many false prophets will arise and deceive many;11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall seduce many.
and because of the increase of evildoing, the love of many will grow cold.12 And because iniquity hath abounded, the charity of many shall grow cold.
But the one who perseveres to the end will be saved.13 But he that shall persevere to the end, he shall be saved.
And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached throughout the world as a witness to all nations, and then the end will come.14 And this gospel of the kingdom, shall be preached in the whole world, for a testimony to all nations, and then shall the consummation come.
"When you see the desolating abomination spoken of through Daniel the prophet standing in the holy place (let the reader understand),15 When therefore you shall see the abomination of desolation, which was spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place: he that readeth let him understand.
then those in Judea must flee to the mountains,16 Then they that are in Judea, let them flee to the mountains:
a person on the housetop must not go down to get things out of his house,17 And he that is on the housetop, let him not come down to take any thing out of his house:
a person in the field must not return to get his cloak.18 And he that is in the field, let him not go back to take his coat.
Woe to pregnant women and nursing mothers in those days.19 And woe to them that are with child, and that give suck in those days.
Pray that your flight not be in winter or on the sabbath,20 But pray that your flight be not in the winter, or on the sabbath.
for at that time there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until now, nor ever will be.21 For there shall be then great tribulation, such as hath not been from the beginning of the world until now, neither shall be.
And if those days had not been shortened, no one would be saved; but for the sake of the elect they will be shortened.22 And unless those days had been shortened, no flesh should be saved: but for the sake of the elect those days shall be shortened.
If anyone says to you then, 'Look, here is the Messiah!' or, 'There he is!' do not believe it.23 Then if any man shall say to you: Lo here is Christ, or there, do not believe him.
False messiahs and false prophets will arise, and they will perform signs and wonders so great as to deceive, if that were possible, even the elect.24 For there shall arise false Christs and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders, insomuch as to deceive (if possible) even the elect.
Behold, I have told it to you beforehand.25 Behold I have told it to you, beforehand.
So if they say to you, 'He is in the desert,' do not go out there; if they say, 'He is in the inner rooms,' do not believe it.26 If therefore they shall say to you: Behold he is in the desert, go ye not out: Behold he is in the closets, believe it not.
For just as lightning comes from the east and is seen as far as the west, so will the coming of the Son of Man be.27 For as lightning cometh out of the east, and appeareth even into the west: so shall the coming of the Son of man be.
Wherever the corpse is, there the vultures will gather.28 Wheresoever the body shall be, there shall the eagles also be gathered together.
"Immediately after the tribulation of those days, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.29 And immediately after the tribulation of those days, the sun shall be darkened and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of heaven shall be moved:
And then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming upon the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all tribes of the earth mourn: and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with much power and majesty.
And he will send out his angels with a trumpet blast, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.31 And he shall send his angels with a trumpet, and a great voice: and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the farthest parts of the heavens to the utmost bounds of them.
"Learn a lesson from the fig tree. When its branch becomes tender and sprouts leaves, you know that summer is near.32 And from the fig tree learn a parable: When the branch thereof is now tender, and the leaves come forth, you know that summer is nigh.
In the same way, when you see all these things, know that he is near, at the gates.33 So you also, when you shall see all these things, know ye that it is nigh, even at the doors.
Amen, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things have taken place.34 Amen I say to you, that this generation shall not pass, till all these things be done.
Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.35 Heaven and earth shall pass, but my words shall not pass.
"But of that day and hour no one knows, neither the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone.36 But of that day and hour no one knoweth, not the angels of heaven, but the Father alone.
For as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.37 And as in the days of Noe, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
In (those) days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day that Noah entered the ark.38 For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, even till that day in which Noe entered into the ark,
They did not know until the flood came and carried them all away. So will it be (also) at the coming of the Son of Man.39 And they knew not till the flood came, and took them all away; so also shall the coming of the Son of man be.
Two men will be out in the field; one will be taken, and one will be left.40 Then two shall be in the field: one shall be taken, and one shall be left.
Two women will be grinding at the mill; one will be taken, and one will be left.41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill: one shall be taken, and one shall be left.
Therefore, stay awake! For you do not know on which day your Lord will come.42 Watch ye therefore, because ye know not what hour your Lord will come.
Be sure of this: if the master of the house had known the hour of night when the thief was coming, he would have stayed awake and not let his house be broken into.43 But know this ye, that if the goodman of the house knew at what hour the thief would come, he would certainly watch, and would not suffer his house to be broken open.
So too, you also must be prepared, for at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come.44 Wherefore be you also ready, because at what hour you know not the Son of man will come.
"Who, then, is the faithful and prudent servant, whom the master has put in charge of his household to distribute to them their food at the proper time?45 Who, thinkest thou, is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath appointed over his family, to give them meat in season.
Blessed is that servant whom his master on his arrival finds doing so.46 Blessed is that servant, whom when his lord shall come he shall find so doing.
Amen, I say to you, he will put him in charge of all his property.47 Amen I say to you, he shall place him over all his goods.
But if that wicked servant says to himself, 'My master is long delayed,'48 But if that evil servant shall say in his heart: My lord is long a coming:
and begins to beat his fellow servants, and eat and drink with drunkards,49 And shall begin to strike his fellow servants, and shall eat and drink with drunkards:
the servant's master will come on an unexpected day and at an unknown hour50 The lord of that servant shall come in a day that he hopeth not, and at an hour that he knoweth not:
and will punish him severely and assign him a place with the hypocrites, where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth.51 And shall separate him, and appoint his portion with the hypocrites. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
