1 Indeed, she reaches from end to end mightily and governs all things well.	1 Ella despliega su fuerza de un extremo hasta el otro, y todo lo administra de la mejor manera.
2 Her I loved and sought after from my youth; I sought to take her for my bride and was enamored of her beauty.	2 Yo la amé y la busqué desde mi juventud, traté de tomarla por esposa y me enamoré de su hermosura.
3 She adds to nobility the splendor of companionship with God; even the LORD of all loved her.	3 Su intimidad con Dios hace resaltar la nobleza de su origen, porque la amó el Señor de todas las cosas.
4 For she is instructress in the understanding of God, the selector of his works.	4 Está iniciada en la ciencia de Dios y es ella la que elige sus obras.
5 And if riches be a desirable possession in life, what is more rich than Wisdom, who produces all things?	5 Si la riqueza es un bien deseable en la vida, ¿qué cosa es más rica que la Sabiduría que todo lo hace?
6 And if prudence renders service, who in the world is a better craftsman than she?	6 Si la prudencia es la que obra, ¿quién más que ella es artífice de todo lo que existe?
7 Or if one loves justice, the fruits of her works are virtues; For she teaches moderation and prudence, justice and fortitude, and nothing in life is more useful for men than these.	7 ¿Amas la justicia? El fruto de sus esfuerzos son las virtudes, porque ella enseña la templanza y la prudencia, la justicia y la fortaleza, y nada es más útil que esto para los hombres en la vida.
8 Or again, if one yearns for copious learning, she knows the things of old, and infers those yet to come. She understands the turns of phrases and the solutions of riddles; signs and wonders she knows in advance and the outcome of times and ages.	8 ¿Deseas, además, tener mucha experiencia? Ella conoce el pasado y puede prever el porvenir, interpreta las máximas y descifra los enigmas, conoce de antemano las señales y los prodigios, la sucesión de las épocas y de los tiempos.
9 So I determined to take her to live with me, knowing that she would be my counselor while all was well, and my comfort in care and grief.	9 Yo decidí tomarla por compañera de mi vida, sabiendo que ella sería mi consejera para el bien y mi aliento en las preocupaciones y la tristeza.
10 For her sake I should have glory among the masses, and esteem from the elders, though I be but a youth.	10 Gracias a ella, alcanzaré gloria entre la gente, y aun siendo joven, seré honrado por los ancianos.
11 I should become keen in judgment, and should be a marvel before rulers.	11 Me encontrarán perspicaz en el ejercicio de la justicia, y seré admirado en presencia de los grandes.
12 They would abide my silence and attend my utterance; and as I spoke on further, they would place their hands upon their mouths.	12 Si me callo, estarán a la expectativa, si hablo, me prestarán atención, si mi discurso se prolonga, permanecerán en silencio.
13 For her sake I should have immortality and leave to those after me an everlasting memory.	13 Gracias a ella, alcanzaré la inmortalidad y dejaré a la posteridad un recuerdo eterno;
14 I should govern peoples, and nations would be my subjects-	14 gobernaré a los pueblos, y las naciones me estarán sometidas;
15 terrible princes, hearing of me, would be afraid; in the assembly I should appear noble, and in war courageous.	15 terribles tiranos quedarán aterrados al oír hablar de mí; me mostraré bondadoso con mi pueblo y valiente en la guerra.
16 Within my dwelling, I should take my repose beside her; For association with her involves no bitterness and living with her no grief, but rather joy and gladness.	16 Al volver a mi casa, descansaré junto a ella, porque su compañía no causa amargura, ni dolor su intimidad, sino sólo placer y alegría.
17 Thinking thus within myself, and reflecting in my heart That there is immortality in kinship with Wisdom,	17 Al reflexionar sobre estas cosas, y considerando en mi corazón que en la familiaridad con la Sabiduría está la inmortalidad,
18 and good pleasure in her friendship, and unfailing riches in the works of her hands, And that in frequenting her society there is prudence, and fair renown in sharing her discourses, I went about seeking to take her for my own.	18 en su amistad, un gozo honesto, en los trabajos de sus manos, inagotables riquezas, en su trato asiduo, la prudencia, y en la comunicación con ella, la celebridad, yo iba por todas partes, tratando de poseerla.
19 Now, I was a well-favored child, and I came by a noble nature;	19 Yo era un muchacho naturalmente bueno y había recibido un alma bondadosa,
20 or rather, being noble, I attained an unsullied body.	20 o más bien, siendo bueno, vine a un cuerpo sin mancha;
21 And knowing that I could not otherwise possess her except God gave it-- and this, too, was prudence, to know whose is the gift-- I went to the LORD and besought him, and said with all my heart:	21 pero comprendiendo que no podía obtener la Sabiduría si Dios no me la concedía, y ya era un signo de prudencia saber de quién viene esta gracia, me dirigí al Señor y le supliqué, diciéndole de todo corazón:
