1 The descendants of Judah were: Perez, Hezron, Carmi, Hur, and Shobal.	1 Fils de Juda : Pharès, Hesron, Charmi, Hur, et Sobal.
2 Reaiah, the son of Shobal, became the father of Jahath, and Jahath became the father of Ahumai and Lahad. These were the clans of the Zorathites.	2 Raïs, fils de Sobal, engendra Jahath, père d'Ahumaï et de Laad, d'où sont sortis les Sarathites (familles de Sarathi, note).
3 These were the descendants of Hareph, the father of Etam: Jezreel, Ishma, and Idbash; their sister was named Hazzelelponi.	3 Voici encore la postérité d'Etam : Jezrahel, Jéséma, et Jédébos, qui eurent une sœur nommée Asalelphuni.
4 Penuel was the father of Gedor, and Ezer the father of Hushah. These were the descendants of Hur, the first-born of Ephrathah, the father of Bethlehem.	4 Phanuel fut père de Gédor, et Ezer père d'Hosa : ce sont là les descendants de Hur, fils aîné d'Ephratha et père de Bethléem.
5 Ashhur, the father of Tekoa, had two wives, Helah and Naarah.	5 Assur, père de Thécua, eut deux femmes : Halaa et Naara.
6 Naarah bore him Ahuzzam, Hepher, the Temenites and the Ahashtarites. These were the descendants of Naarah.	6 De Naara il eut Oozam, et Hépher, et les Thémaniens (Thémani), et les Ahasthariens (Ahasthari), qui sont tous descendus de Naara.
7 The sons of Helah were Zereth, Izhar, Ethnan, and Koz.	7 Fils de Halaa : Séreth, Isaar, et Ethnan.
8 Koz became the father of Anub and Zobebah, as well as of the clans of Aharhel, son of Harum.	8 Cos engendra Anob et Soboba, et la famille d'Aharéhel, fils d'Arum.
9 Jabez was the most distinguished of the brothers. His mother had named him Jabez, saying, "I bore him with pain."	9 Mais Jabès devint plus illustre que ses frères ; et ce fut sa mère qui lui donna le nom de Jabès, en disant : C'est parce que je l'ai enfanté dans la douleur.
10 Jabez prayed to the God of Israel: "Oh, that you may truly bless me and extend my boundaries! Help me and make me free of misfortune, without pain!" 11 Chelub, the brother of Shuhah, became the father of Mehir, who was the father of Eshton.	11 Caleb, frère de Sua, engendra Mahir, qui fut père d'Esthon.
12 Eshton became the father of Bethrapha, Paseah, and Tehinnah, the father of the city of Nahash. These were the men of Recah.	12 Esthon engendra Bethrapha, Phessé et Téhinna, qui fut le père de la ville de Naas. Ce sont là les hommes de Récha.
13 The sons of Kenaz were Othniel and Seraiah. The sons of Othniel were Hathath and Meonothai;	13 Cénez eut pour fils Othoniel et Saraïa. Othoniel fut père d'Hathath et de Maonathi.
14 Meonothai became the father of Ophrah. Seraiah became the father of Joab, the father of Geharashim, so called because they were craftsmen.	14 Maonathi engendra Ophra ; Saraïa engendra Joab, le père de la Vallée des ouvriers. Car il y avait là toutes sortes d' (des) ouvriers.
15 The sons of Caleb, son of Jephunneh, were Ir, Elah, and Naam. The sons of Elah were. . . and Kenaz.	15 Fils de Caleb, fils de Jéphoné : Hir, Ela, et Naham. Ela fut père de Cénez.
16 The sons of Jehallelel were Ziph, Ziphah, Tiria, and Asarel.	16 Fils de Jaléléel : Ziph, Zipha, Thiria, et Asraël.
17 The sons of Ezrah were Jether, Mered, Epher, and Jalon. Jether became the father of Miriam, Shammai, and Ishbah, the father of Eshtemoa. (. . . . . .)	17 Fils d'Ezra : Jéther, Méred, Epher, et Jalon. Il eut encore Mariam, Sammaï et Jesba, père d'Esthamo.
18 His (Mered's) Egyptian wife bore Jered, the father of Gedor, Heber, the father of Soco, and Jekuthiel, the father of Zanoah. These were the sons of Bithiah, the daughter of Pharaoh, whom Mered married.	18 Sa femme Judaïa enfanta Jared, père de Gédor, et Héber, père de Socho, et Icuthiel, père de Zanoé. 19 The sons of his Jewish wife, the sister of Naham, the father of Keilah, were Shimon the Garmite and Ishi the Maacathite.	19 Fils de la femme d'Odaïa, sœur de Naham, père de Céila : Garmi, et Esthamo, qui était de Machathi.
20 The sons of Shimon were Amnon, Rinnah, Benhanan, and Tilon. The son of Ishi was Zoheth and the son of Zoheth. . . .	20 Fils de Simon : Amnon, et Rinna, fils de Hanan, et Thilon. Fils de Jési : Zoheth et Benzoheth.
21 The descendants of Shelah, son of Judah, were: Er, the father of Lecah; Laadah, the father of Mareshah; the clans of the linen weavers' guild in Bethashbea;	21 Fils de Séla, fils de Juda : Her, père de Lécha, et Laada, père de Marésa, et les familles de ceux qui travaillent aux ouvrages de fin lin dans la Maison du serment ;
22 Jokim; the men of Cozeba; and Joash and Saraph, who held property in Moab, but returned to Bethlehem. 26 The descendants of Mishma were his son Hammuel, whose son was Zaccur, whose son was Shimei.	26 Le fils de Masma fut Hamuel, celui de Hamuel fut Zachur, et celui de Zachur fut Séméi.
27 Shimei had sixteen sons and six daughters. His brothers, however, did not have many sons, and as a result all their clans did not equal the number of the Judahites.	27 Séméi eut seize fils et six (cinq) filles ; mais ses frères n'eurent pas beaucoup d'enfants, et toute leur postérité ne put égaler le nombre des enfants de Juda.
28 They dwelt in Beer-sheba, Moladah, Hazar-shual,	28 Ils s'établirent à Bersabée, à Molada, à Hasarsuhal ;
29 Bilhah, Ezem, Tolad,	29 à Bala, à Asom, à Tholad,
30 Bethuel, Hormah, Ziklag,	30 à Bathuel, à Horma, et à Sicéleg,
31 Beth-marcaboth, Hazar-susim, Bethbiri, and Shaaraim. Until David came to reign, these were their cities	31 à Bethmarchaboth, à Hasarsusim, à Bethbéraï, et à Saarim. Ce sont les villes qu'ils possédèrent jusqu'au règne de David.

33 together with all their outlying villages as far as Baal. 34 Meshobab, Jamlech, Joshah, son of Amaziah,	34 Mosobab, Jemlech, et Josa, fils d'Amasias ;

40 They found abundant and good pastures, and the land was spacious, quiet, and peaceful.	40 Ils en trouvèrent de fertiles et d'excellents, et une terre très spacieuse, paisible et fertile, où des gens de la postérité de Cham s'étaient établis.
41 They who have just been listed by name set out during the reign of Hezekiah, king of Judah, and attacked the tents of Ham (for Hamites dwelt there formerly) and also the Meunites who were there. They pronounced against them the ban that is still in force and dwelt in their place because they found pasture there for their flocks.	41 Ces hommes, que nous avons nommés plus haut, vinrent donc sous le règne d'Ezéchias roi de Juda ; ils renversèrent leurs tentes (attaquèrent leurs tabernacles), et tuèrent ceux qui y habitaient, et ils en sont demeurés jusqu'à présent les maîtres, s'y étant établis à leur place, à cause des pâturages très gras qu'ils y trouvèrent.
42 Five hundred of them (the Simeonites) went to Mount Seir under the leadership of Pelatiah, Neariah, Rephaiah, and Uzziel, sons of Ishi.	42 Quelques autres de la même tribu de Siméon, au nombre de cinq cents, s'en allèrent à la montagne de Séir, sous la conduite de Phaltias, de Naaria, de Raphaïa, et d'Oziel, fils de Jési ;
43 They attacked the surviving Amalekites who had escaped, and have resided there to the present day.	43 et ayant défait les restes des Amalécites, qui avaient pu échapper jusqu'alors, ils se rendirent maîtres du pays, où ils sont demeurés jusqu'à ce jour.
