KING JAMES BIBLENEW JERUSALEM
when Doeg the Edomite came and told Saul, and said unto him, David is come to the house of Ahimelech.1 [For the choirmaster Poem Of David When Doeg the Edomite went and warned Saul, 'David has goneto Abimelech's house'] Why take pride in being wicked, you champion in vil ainy, al day long
Thy tongue deviseth mischiefs; like a sharp rasor, working deceitfully.2 plotting crime? Your tongue is razor-sharp, you artist in perfidy.
Thou lovest evil more than good; and lying rather than to speak righteousness. Selah.3 You prefer evil to good, lying to uprightness. Pause
Thou lovest all devouring words, O thou deceitful tongue.4 You revel in destructive talk, treacherous tongue!
God shall likewise destroy thee for ever, he shall take thee away, and pluck thee out of thy dwelling place, and root thee out of the land of the living. Selah.5 That is why God wil crush you, destroy you once and for all, snatch you from your tent, uproot youfrom the land of the living.Pause
The righteous also shall see, and fear, and shall laugh at him:6 The upright wil be awestruck as they see it, they wil mock him,
Lo, this is the man that made not God his strength; but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness.7 'So much for someone who would not place his reliance in God, but relied on his own great wealth, and made himself strong by crime.'
But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God: I trust in the mercy of God for ever and ever.8 But I, like a flourishing olive tree in the house of God, put my trust in God's faithful love, for ever andever.
I will praise thee for ever, because thou hast done it: and I will wait on thy name; for it is good before thy saints.9 I shal praise you for ever for what you have done, and shal trust in your name, so ful of goodness, inthe presence of your faithful.
