KING JAMES BIBLENEW AMERICAN BIBLE
In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness.1 For the leader. A psalm of David.
Bow down thine ear to me; deliver me speedily: be thou my strong rock, for an house of defence to save me.2 In you, LORD, I take refuge; let me never be put to shame. In your justice deliver me;
For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name's sake lead me, and guide me.3 incline your ear to me; make haste to rescue me! Be my rock of refuge, a stronghold to save me.
Pull me out of the net that they have laid privily for me: for thou art my strength.4 You are my rock and my fortress; for your name's sake lead and guide me.
Into thine hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O LORD God of truth.5 Free me from the net they have set for me, for you are my refuge.
I have hated them that regard lying vanities: but I trust in the LORD.6 Into your hands I commend my spirit; you will redeem me, LORD, faithful God.
I will be glad and rejoice in thy mercy: for thou hast considered my trouble; thou hast known my soul in adversities;7 You hate those who serve worthless idols, but I trust in the LORD.
And hast not shut me up into the hand of the enemy: thou hast set my feet in a large room.8 I will rejoice and be glad in your love, once you have seen my misery, observed my distress.
Have mercy upon me, O LORD, for I am in trouble: mine eye is consumed with grief, yea, my soul and my belly.9 You will not abandon me into enemy hands, but will set my feet in a free and open space.
For my life is spent with grief, and my years with sighing: my strength faileth because of mine iniquity, and my bones are consumed.10 Be gracious to me, LORD, for I am in distress; with grief my eyes are wasted, my soul and body spent.
I was a reproach among all mine enemies, but especially among my neighbours, and a fear to mine acquaintance: they that did see me without fled from me.11 My life is worn out by sorrow, my years by sighing. My strength fails in affliction; my bones are consumed.
I am forgotten as a dead man out of mind: I am like a broken vessel.12 To all my foes I am a thing of scorn, to my neighbors, a dreaded sight, a horror to my friends. When they see me in the street, they quickly shy away.
For I have heard the slander of many: fear was on every side: while they took counsel together against me, they devised to take away my life.13 I am forgotten, out of mind like the dead; I am like a shattered dish.
But I trusted in thee, O LORD: I said, Thou art my God.14 I hear the whispers of the crowd; terrors are all around me. They conspire against me; they plot to take my life.
My times are in thy hand: deliver me from the hand of mine enemies, and from them that persecute me.15 But I trust in you, LORD; I say, "You are my God."
Make thy face to shine upon thy servant: save me for thy mercies' sake.16 My times are in your hands; rescue me from my enemies, from the hands of my pursuers.
Let me not be ashamed, O LORD; for I have called upon thee: let the wicked be ashamed, and let them be silent in the grave.17 Let your face shine on your servant; save me in your kindness.
Let the lying lips be put to silence; which speak grievous things proudly and contemptuously against the righteous.18 Do not let me be put to shame, for I have called to you, LORD. Put the wicked to shame; reduce them to silence in Sheol.
Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee; which thou hast wrought for them that trust in thee before the sons of men!19 Strike dumb their lying lips, proud lips that attack the just in contempt and scorn.
Thou shalt hide them in the secret of thy presence from the pride of man: thou shalt keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues.20 How great is your goodness, Lord, stored up for those who fear you. You display it for those who trust you, in the sight of all the people.
Blessed be the LORD: for he hath shewed me his marvellous kindness in a strong city.21 You hide them in the shelter of your presence, safe from scheming enemies. You keep them in your abode, safe from plotting tongues.
For I said in my haste, I am cut off from before thine eyes: nevertheless thou heardest the voice of my supplications when I cried unto thee.22 Blessed be the LORD, who has shown me wondrous love, and been for me a city most secure.
O love the LORD, all ye his saints: for the LORD preserveth the faithful, and plentifully rewardeth the proud doer.23 Once I said in my anguish, "I am shut out from your sight." Yet you heard my plea, when I cried out to you.
Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the LORD.24 Love the LORD, all you faithful. The LORD protects the loyal, but repays the arrogant in full.
Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the LORD.
