Psalms 107

1 Give glory to the Lord, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.	1 Alleluia. Celebrate il Signore perché è buono, perché eterna è la sua misericordia.
2 Let them say so that have been redeemed by the Lord, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy: and gathered out of the countries.	2 Lo dicano i riscattati del Signore, che egli liberò dalla mano del nemico
3 From the rising and the setting of the sun, from the north and from the sea.	3 e radunò da tutti i paesi, dall'oriente e dall'occidente, dal settentrione e dal mezzogiorno.
4 They wandered in a wilderness, in a place without water: they found not the way of a city for their habitation.	4 Vagavano nel deserto, nella steppa, non trovavano il cammino per una città dove abitare.
5 They were hungry and thirsty: their soul fainted in them.	5 Erano affamati e assetati, veniva meno la loro vita.
6 And they cried to the Lord in their tribulation: and he delivered them out of their distresses.	6 Nell'angoscia gridarono al Signore ed egli li liberò dalle loro angustie.
7 And he led them into the right way: that they might go to a city of habitation.	7 Li condusse sulla via retta, perché camminassero verso una città dove abitare.
8 Let the mercies of the Lord give glory to him: and his wonderful works to the children of men.	8 Ringrazino il Signore per la sua misericordia, per i suoi prodigi a favore degli uomini;
9 For he hath satisfied the empty soul, and hath filled the hungry soul with good things.	9 poiché saziò il desiderio dell'assetato, e l'affamato ricolmò di beni.
10 Such as sat in darkness and in the shadow of death: bound in want and in iron.	10 Abitavano nelle tenebre e nell'ombra di morte, prigionieri della miseria e dei ceppi,
11 Because they had exasperated the words of God: and provoked the counsel of the most High:	11 perché si erano ribellati alla parola di Dio e avevano disprezzato il disegno dell'Altissimo.
12 And their heart was humbled with labours: they were weakened, and their was none to help them.	12 Egli piegò il loro cuore sotto le sventure; cadevano e nessuno li aiutava.
13 Then they cried to the Lord in their affliction: and he delivered them out of their distresses.	13 Nell'angoscia gridarono al Signore ed egli li liberò dalle loro angustie.
14 And he brought them out of darkness, and the shadow of death; and broke their bonds in sunder.	14 Li fece uscire dalle tenebre e dall'ombra di morte e spezzò le loro catene.
15 Let the mercies of the Lord give glory to him, and his wonderful works to the children of men.	15 Ringrazino il Signore per la sua misericordia, per i suoi prodigi a favore degli uomini;
16 Because he hath broken gates of brass, and burst the iron bars.	16 perché ha infranto le porte di bronzo e ha spezzato le barre di ferro.
17 He took them out of the way of their iniquity: for they were brought low for their injustices.	17 Stolti per la loro iniqua condotta, soffrivano per i loro misfatti;
18 Their soul abhorred all manner of meat: and they drew nigh even to the gates of death.	18 rifiutavano ogni nutrimento e già toccavano le soglie della morte.
19 And they cried to the Lord in their affliction: and he delivered them out of their distresses.	19 Nell'angoscia gridarono al Signore ed egli li liberò dalle loro angustie.
20 He sent his word, and healed them: and delivered them from their destructions.	20 Mandò la sua parola e li fece guarire, li salvò dalla distruzione.
21 Let the mercies of the Lord give glory to him: and his wonderful works to the children of men.	21 Ringrazino il Signore per la sua misericordia e per i suoi prodigi a favore degli uomini.
22 And let them sacrifice the sacrifice of praise: and declare his works with joy.	22 Offrano a lui sacrifici di lode, narrino con giubilo le sue opere.
23 They that go down to the sea in ships, doing business in the great waters:	23 Coloro che solcavano il mare sulle navi e commerciavano sulle grandi acque,
24 These have seen the works of the Lord, and his wonders in the deep.	24 videro le opere del Signore, i suoi prodigi nel mare profondo.
25 He said the word, and there arose a storm of wind: and the waves thereof were lifted up.	25 Egli parlò e fece levare un vento burrascoso che sollevò i suoi flutti.
26 They mount up to the heavens, and they go down to the depths: their soul pined away with evils.	26 Salivano fino al cielo, scendevano negli abissi; la loro anima languiva nell'affanno.
27 They were troubled, and reeled like a drunken man; and all their wisdom was swallowed up.	27 Ondeggiavano e barcollavano come ubriachi, tutta la loro perizia era svanita.
28 And they cried to the Lord in their affliction: and he brought them out of their distresses.	28 Nell'angoscia gridarono al Signore ed egli li liberò dalle loro angustie.
29 And he turned the storm into a breeze: and its waves were still.	29 Ridusse la tempesta alla calma, tacquero i flutti del mare.
30 And they rejoiced because they were still: and he brought them to the haven which they wished for.	30 Si rallegrarono nel vedere la bonaccia ed egli li condusse al porto sospirato.
31 Let the mercies of the Lord give glory to him, and his wonderful works to the children of men.	31 Ringrazino il Signore per la sua misericordia e per i suoi prodigi a favore degli uomini.
32 And let them exalt him in the church of the people: and praise him in the chair of the ancients.	32 Lo esaltino nell'assemblea del popolo, lo lodino nel consesso degli anziani.
33 He hath turned rivers into a wilderness: and the sources of water into dry ground:	33 Ridusse i fiumi a deserto, a luoghi aridi le fonti d'acqua
34 A fruitful land into barrenness, for the wickedness of them that dwell therein.	34 e la terra fertile a palude per la malizia dei suoi abitanti.
35 He hath turned a wilderness into pools of water, and a dry land into water springs.	35 Ma poi cambiò il deserto in lago, e la terra arida in sorgenti d'acqua.
36 And hath placed there the hungry; and they made a city for their habitation.	36 Là fece dimorare gli affamati ed essi fondarono una città dove abitare.
37 And they sowed fields, and planted vineyards: and they yielded fruit of birth.	37 Seminarono campi e piantarono vigne, e ne raccolsero frutti abbondanti.
38 And he blessed them, and they were multiplied exceedingly: and their cattle he suffered not to decrease.	38 Li benedisse e si moltiplicarono, non lasciò diminuire il loro bestiame.
39 Then they were brought to be few: and they were afflicted through the trouble of evils and sorrow.	39 Ma poi, ridotti a pochi, furono abbattuti, perché oppressi dalle sventure e dal dolore.
40 Contempt was poured forth upon their princes: and he caused them to wander where there was no passing, and out of the way.	40 Colui che getta il disprezzo sui potenti, li fece vagare in un deserto senza strade.
41 And he helped the poor out of poverty: and made him families like a flock of sheep.	41 Ma risollevò il povero dalla miseria e rese le famiglie numerose come greggi.
42 The just shall see, and shall rejoice, and all iniquity shall stop their mouth.	42 Vedono i giusti e ne gioiscono e ogni iniquo chiude la sua bocca.
43 Who is wise, and will keep these things: and will understand the mercies of the Lord?	43 Chi è saggio osservi queste cose e comprenderà la bontà del Signore.
