Proverbios 12

EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS	NEW JERUSALEM
1 El que ama la corrección, ama la ciencia, y el que detesta la reprensión se embrutece.	1 Whoever loves discipline, loves knowledge, stupid are those who hate correction.
2 El hombre de bien obtiene el favor del Señor, pero el Señor condena al malicioso.	2 The honest obtains Yahweh's favour, the schemer incurs his condemnation.
3 Nadie se afianza por medio de la maldad, pero la raíz de los justos será inconmovible.	3 No one is made secure by wickedness, but nothing shakes the roots of the upright.
4 Una mujer perfecta es la corona de su marido, la desvergonzada es como caries en sus huesos.	4 A capable wife, her husband's crown, a shameless wife, a cancer in his bones.
5 Los proyectos de los justos son rectos, las maquinaciones de los malvados no son más que engaño.	5 The plans of the upright are honest, the intrigues of the wicked are full of deceit.
6 Las palabras de los malvados son emboscadas sangrientas, pero a los hombres rectos los libra su propia boca.	6 The words of the wicked are snares to shed blood, what the honest say keeps them safe.
7 Apenas derribados, los malvados no existen más, pero la casa de los justos se mantiene en pie.	7 Once thrown down, the wicked are no more, but the house of the upright stands firm.
8 A un hombre se lo alaba por su buen juicio, pero el de corazón falso cae en la ignominia.	8 Prudence wins praise, but a tortuous heart incurs only contempt.
9 Más vale hombre sencillo que se basta a sí mismo, que jactancioso al que le falta el pan.	9 Better a common fel ow who has a slave than someone who gives himself airs and has nothing to eat.
10 El justo provee a las necesidades de su ganado, pero las entrañas de los malvados son crueles.	10 The upright has compassion on his animals, but the heart of the wicked is ruthless.
11 El que cultiva su tierra se saciará de pan, pero el que persigue quimeras es un insensato.	11 Whoever works his land shall have bread and to spare, but no one who chases fantasies has anysense.
12 El malvado codicia la presa de los impíos, pero la raíz de los justos está bien afianzada.	12 The godless delights in the snare of the wicked, but the root of the upright bears fruit.
13 En el pecado de los labios hay una trampa funesta, pero el justo escapa del peligro.	13 In the sin of the lips lies a disastrous trap, but the upright finds a way out of misfortune.
14 El hombre se sacia con el fruto de sus palabras, y cada uno recibe el salario de su trabajo.	14 Abundance of good things is the fruit of the lips; labour brings its own return.
15 Al necio le parece que su camino es recto, pero el sabio escucha un consejo.	15 Fools think the way they go is straight, the wise listens to advice.
16 El necio manifiesta en seguida su disgusto pero el hombre prudente disimula una afrenta.	16 The fool shows anger straightaway, the discreet conceals dislike.
17 El que dice la verdad declara lo que es justo, pero el testigo falso es un impostor.	17 To tel the truth is to further justice, a false witness is nothing but deceit.
18 El charlatán corta como una espada, pero la lengua de los sabios es un remedio.	18 Thoughtless words can wound like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.
19 Los labios veraces permanecen para siempre, pero la lengua mentirosa, sólo por un instante.	19 Sincere lips endure for ever, the lying tongue lasts only a moment.
20 Hay engaño en el corazón de los que traman el mal, y alegría para los que dan consejos saludables.	20 Deceit is in the heart of the schemer, joy with those who give counsels of peace.
21 Al justo no le pasará nada malo, pero los malvados están llenos de desgracias.	21 No harm can come to the upright, but the wicked are swamped by misfortunes.
22 Los labios mentirosos son abominables para el Señor, pero los que practican la verdad gozan de su favor.	22 Lying lips are abhorrent to Yahweh; dear to him those who make truth their way of life.
23 El hombre prudente disimula lo que sabe, pero el corazón de los necios proclama su insensatez.	23 The discreet keeps knowledge hidden, the heart of fools proclaims their folly.
24 La mano laboriosa dominará, la indolente pagará tributo.	24 For the diligent hand, authority; for the slack hand, forced labour.
25 La inquietud deprime el corazón del hombre, pero una buena palabra lo reconforta.	25 Worry makes a heart heavy, a kindly word makes it glad.
26 El justo aventaja a los demás, pero a los malvados los extravía su conducta.	26 The upright shows the way to a friend; the way of the wicked leads them astray.
27 El indolente no tiene presa de caza para asar, y el bien más preciado es un hombre laborioso.	27 The idle has no game to roast; diligence is anyone's most precious possession.
28 En el sendero de la justicia está la vida, y el camino que ella sigue no lleva a la muerte.	28 In the way of uprightness is life, the ways of the vengeful lead to death.
